DescriptionThe particle filter box type FK-FF with fluid seal at the filter cellhas been developed especially for use in clean rooms required bythe pharmaceutical, electronic, precision mechanical and opticalindustries in hospitals, nuclear power plants and laboratories.The integrated particle filter (to DIN EN 1822) removes parti-cles, radioactive dust, mist, bacteria, viruses, etc. from thesupply or return air. This ensures that the incoming and outgoingair is extremely clean and germ-free. The fluid is located at the filter cell and pressed into a sealingdevice especially developed for this purpose in the filter boxwhen the filter cell is installed. Owing to the properties of thefluid, the filter cell can be mounted and dismounted severaltimes without having to change the fluid.The filter box type FK-FF-H consists of electrolytically galvanisedsheet steel painted to RAL 9010 (white), with a round connectionpipe for hose connection or for the type FK-FF-RE with a rectan-gular connection pipe with connection flange. A filter pressuredevice in the filter box ensures a safe seal. As a standard feature,a differential pressure measuring device is integrated into theparticle filter box.The particle filter box types FK-FF-HV, FK-FF-E and FK-FF-EF areadditionally fitted with a shut-off damper sealing air-tight. Withthe type FK-FF-HV this shut-off damper can be manually adjustedfrom below after the air diffuser is removed. The type FK-FF-E isactuated by an electric actuator OPEN/CLOSED 24 V and the typeFK-FF-EF by a spring return actuator.Leakage at closed shut-off damper according to DIN EN 1751,class 3, at a duct pressure of up to 1000 Pa.

Attention!We would like to point out that we supply the filter boxes with in-tegrated spacer for fitting the filter clamps and the outlet assem-bly pole brace. This makes it possible to fit the outlet withoutadditional expense, even when the filter has not yet been insertedinto the filter box.

The assembly of the air diffusers is effected via a central fasteningdevice (VM). Through this, the diffuser can be easily taken off tochange filter cells and to de-contaminate. The following ceilingdiffusers in the supply and return air models are suitable for fit-ting the particle filter box type FK-FF: DQJA-SR, DQJA-SQ, PIL-Q,PIL-G-Q, DQD-L, 4-DE, 4-DF, DAF-F. If required, suitable particlefilters can be included in the delivery

The filter boxes in stainless steel model 1.4301/1.4571 powder-coated in the colour sand silver are suitable for use in visible ar-eas.

We would like to point out that for cleaning stainless steel models,only suitable cleaning materials may be used!

Attention:Please note that the O-rings (seals) of the bulkhead stuffing boxmay dry out over the months. Once the O-rings have dried out,the hoses can only be inserted, applying higher force. A com-mon method of reoiling these bulkhead stuffing boxes is to im-pregnate a cloth with a universal oil, for example from Ballistol,and wipe it across the hose, before inserting it. This smallamount is sufficient to make the bulkhead stuffing boxes run-ning smoothly again.

InstallationFilter assembly instruction

InstallationLoosen filter clamp (pos. 4) and remove it along with shippingbrace. Press the particle filter unit (pos. 6) with the fluid seal(see detail Z) pointing upwards into the filter housing (pos. 7)Take care that the filter material is not destroyed.The filter unit can be easily locked using two diagonal filterclamps (pos. 1 and 3). Next, the VM pole brace (pos. 5) is in-serted and fastened using the other two filter clamps (pos. 2 and4) Care must be taken that the filter clamps are at first tightenedonly slightly cross-wise (e.g. in the sequence filter clamps 1, 3,2, 4). After tightening the filter clamps slightly, they can betightened properly, again cross-wise and evenly until the filterunit has a tight fit. Care must be taken that the filter clamps aretightened to 2 Nm maximum. A buffer prevents the immersingsword from severing the fluid.

DismountingUnscrew the air diffuser, loosen the filter clamps, take off theVM pole brace. The particle filter cell can easily be taken offdownwards with an assembly lever. The assembly lever is leadsideways from the filter upwards and then hooked on the filtertop edge. Gently pulling on the assembly lever removes the filterfrom the box.

Attention!The particle filter unit may fall out of the filter housing whenthe filter clamps are removed!

Before the particle filter unit can be inserted, the shippingbrace clamped by means of the filter clamps must be re-moved!

Mounting lever

MaintenanceIn addition to keeping machines and equipment clean, the main-tenance of the filters is especially important. A constant controlof the filters is as essential as changing them when the maxi-mum allowed particle absorption has been reached. The inspec-tion must take place at short enough intervals to allow faults thathave occurred or become apparent to be eliminated in time. Thenecessary intervals are set depending on the local conditions.The measured variable for the particle absorption of the filter isthe pressure difference. This is why a differential pressuremeasuring device must be attached to each filter step to monitorits operating condition.

The filter is changed when the terminal resistance is reached,which is set in advance when designing the ventilator capacityof the ventilation system. The terminal resistance is normallytwice the starting resistance.
