Mint is an easy-to-use portable payment and invoicing system that enables businesses to process payments while they are out on the road. It can be used with both BlackBerry and Microsoft Windows Mobile smartphones.

With Mint, a smartphone becomes a portable cash register that can process any type of transaction (credit card, cash, cheque payments and account transactions), and print out an invoice and tax receipt on the spot, from wherever Optus Mobile network coverage is available.

A subscription to Mint also includes access to a personalised online administration system for up-to-the-minute business reporting.

All transactions taken on the smartphone are stored in the online system and can be downloaded into accounting software reducing time-consuming paperwork. Transactions are protected by 128-bit SSl security – the same technology banks use for internet banking.

how Mint works:

n A business sets up its product or service list in the Mint online administration system. The list is then wirelessly transferred onto the business’ smartphones.

n A user enters the transaction details on their smartphone and automatically generates a tax invoice by selecting the items purchased from the price book.

n If the customer pays by credit card, the user swipes their card in the card reader. Payment details are sent through secure, encrypted communications and authorised by the banks within seconds.

n The user prints a tax invoice with transaction details, including approval signature. Payment is then deposited into the business’ nominated bank account.
