Core Concepts in SAP Fashion Management

    Fashion product

Fashion products (generic articles) with up to three dimensions such as color, size, or drop can be

managed efficiently with FMS throughout the processes.

    Season, Collection, Theme

All processes are controlled by season, collection and theme. Each fashion product is assigned to

one or multiple seasons (optional) and the season master data determines the purchasing and sales

period of the product. Purchasing and sales document will carry the season information and also

inventory can be split by season if desired.

Demand (requirement) and supply (stock) segmentation

Segmentation in FMS offers the possibility to categorize demand as well as supply based on logical

and/or physical aspects of a product. Quality and country of origin are typical physical aspects which

require segmentation. Logical aspects could be the sales channel for which the product quantity is

    intended.

    Value Added Services

Value added services represent additional services to a fashion product on the way from production to

sales. Typically a vendor will charge a separate cost for a service such as labeling or ticketing.

    Structured Articles / Non-Production BOMS

Products in fashion are often packed together for multiple purposes. Different types of structured

articles for different use cases are supported in FMS: prepacks, displays, sets, customer assortment.

The Path From SAP AFS to SAP Fashion Management

SAP Fashion Management implementation needs to be conducted with all of the

respective project phases necessary for any other implementation

SAP Fashion Management needs to be implemented like a new ERP, where the

data can be migrated. The following hints are to be taken into consideration:

Definition of the business blueprint for SAP Fashion Management (reengineering might be

sometimes necessary, however should be checked what impact will be caused on data

migration, changing the organizational structure are most critical for migration)

Re-implementation of all custom coding Z-reports, etc. manually, which will still be

required in SAP Fashion Management environment

Customizing of the SAP Fashion Management to the business needs but also aligned withAFS settings

Taking care of all interfaces which are required in SAP Fashion Management due to

changed data structures (inbound and outbound, impact on legacy systems)

Users and authorizations have to be created manually in SAP Fashion Management

Transition From SAP Retail to Fashion Management

SAP Fashion Management is based on the IS Retail, a technical migration is not necessary

In case of the active SAP Retail installation the first step, if not already in place, would be

migration from ECC to ECC on HANA environment

In some cases a green field implementation approach can be favored in order to leveragethe Fashion Management implementation as a new process basis

After activating SAP Fashion Management business functions some of the data has to be

    enriched (e.g. season, Arun relevancy)

In case of the necessity to utilize the segmentation concept for the articles, which have been

created before the SAP Fashion Management business functions have been activated, an

implementation project specific solution has to be analyzed Analyze integration to the other SAP components (e.g. Business Suite or BW) and the impact

of activating the SAP Fashion Management in its integration.

Take into consideration the restrictions to the retail functionalities, after activating of the SAP

Fashion Management and their overall integration.
