I also routinely see MI, PCI, and Post-Op CABG and Valve patients. We also see many pre-cardiac transplant and post-transplant patients. My primary role is to constantly assess and interpret patient’s cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and responses to exercise. I utilize my clinical expertise and judgment to determine a safe exercise framework for the patient. Up to 16 patients may be on telemetry in any given exercise class, with a daily total of up to 65 patients per day spread out over 6 exercise classes.

Professional Experience:

I am part of an integrated, interdisciplinary team made up of Exercise Physiologists, Registered Nurses, and Respiratory Therapy. I frequently find myself training or mentoring my co-workers, as I utilize my extensive cardiovascular nursing experience to teach them how to think more critically in crises situations.

As one of my responsibilities, I do a formal presentation for ourpatients and their families on cardiovasculardisease, procedures, and medicines several times per year as part of ourLeap for Life educational program here at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano. I also have spoken to our Women-Heart group here at THHBP, and have been asked to return in March of2016 to speak again.

In my short time at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano (THHBP), I havebeen in the running for Employee of the Year (2014), as well as havingreceived a Compassionate Nurse award (2014). In addition, I haveearned my board certification as a Cardiac-Vascular nurse in 2013.(This is my second nursing certification, as I have also previouslyheld my CCRN (Critical Care Nursing certification), while working inthe Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

I have served on the Cardiac Innovations program planning committee-CardiacInnovations is annual program THHBP puts on for physicians andcardiovascular healthcare professionals in the North Texas area. Ihave also served on the Staff Nurse Council for The Heart HospitalBaylor Plano for 2 years. This committee serves to implement nursing policy changes throughout the hospital.

September 2011-2012: Clinical Specialist for LifeSync Corporation:Clinical support for a single-use, disposable EKG product with awireless component. I covered the entire Western US, as well as areasin the Northeast. I supported multiple sales representatives, andconducted product trials in their accounts as needed.

October 2010-September 2011: Cardiac Catheterization Lab Staff Nurseat Texas Regional MedicalCenter @ Sunnyvale: Duties include the direct patient care of variouspatients-including circulating and physiologic monitoring of patients undergoing Interventional Cardiology and Interventional Radiology procedures included among these were MI, PCI, CHF, and Arrhythmia patients.

November 2007-September 2010:Galt Medical Clinical Specialist:Responsible for training and development of 65 dealer salesrepresentatives for a vascular access product line which includedguide wires, micro-introducers, and sheaths. Primary purpose waseducation of the sales representatives in terms of clinicalapplications of the product line. Nationwide territory included fieldvisits with the representatives to various institutions across thecountry.

May 2005-September 2007: Baylor Regional Medical Center, Grapevine,TX, Cardiac Catheterization Lab: Performed nursing, monitoring,circulating duties. Went on behalf of the department to G.E.headquarters to train on the G.E. Cardiolab system for a newelectrophysiology program; also carried out Preop and Postop recoveryof Cath. Lab and Electrophysiology patients.

1993-2000 Harris Methodist H.E.B. & Harris Methodist Fort WorthCardiac Catheterization Labs: Performed scrubbing, circulating, andmonitoring duties in various cardiac procedures, i.e., heartcatheterizations, angioplasties, pacemakers, rotational atherectomies,as well as coronary & peripheral stenting procedures.

1981-1992 Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Santa Rosa, California: Workedon a cardiac critical care unit, caring for cardiovascular patients,after cardiac catheterization and open heart surgery, as well aspatients with multiple IV infusions, hemodynamic catheters, mechanicalventilators, and transvenous pacemakers. Developed a cardiovascularpatient education program for the unit. Participated in an amiodaroneinfusion drug study.
