Fast Fact:In Norway, the seasons are very distinct. In the

winter, there is snow all over, but in the summer, it is as hot as a tropical country. In the spring, the cold harsh weather of winter is transformed into warm, peaceful weather. The fall is as colorful as

a peacock and warm just like spring.

Fast Fact:This photo, taken in Rainbow Falls in Monashee

Provincial Park, Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada, is completely natural. It is not

photoshopped or edited in any way, but appear just as you see it. The sunʼs rays refract with the

water, and thatʼs why it looks fake.

The Seussical ScoopBy Kiersten Campbell

" In the past, the Bedminster Drama Club has performed “Annie”, “Willy Wonka”, and “High School Musical”. Now, Mr. Lefurge and our talented Drama Club are excited to entertain our school with the new play...”Seussical”!

" What is “Seussical”? Mr. Lefurge says,” Itʼs sort of like a Seuss opera”. There isnʼt as many lines as in a normal musical, but there is a whole lot of great music! A variety of songs that go from Latin to ballad style, flow in a creative way. There are characters youʼre sure to recognize and some new ones youʼre sure to love. The plot of the story follows mainly “Horton Hears A Who”, but also includes scenes from “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Cat in The Hat”.

" Not into acting, but want to get involved in the play? There are plenty of opportunities for you! If you are artistic, you can join the Scenery Art Club. Show your creativity by painting the the props and backdrops for the play. Youʼll be amazed at what you can create with just a paintbrush, paints, and an outline!

" If youʼd rather be behind the curtain, try out Behind the Scenes Club. You can raise the curtain, distribute props, change scenery, or even control the spotlight. Actors are definitely important, but it would be really hard to perform a play without a backstage crew. For more information, talk to Mr. Lefurge for schedules and permission slips. Your final option, is just to enjoy the play. Either way, everyone is sure to enjoy the play. You can see the play on March 29 and March 30. You can watch it during school or after school at 7:00 PM.

!"#$%#&Everything you wear, you might think is totally fashionable. Well, everyone has different

styles, but if you wear the same clothes every single week, itʼs not right! Yeah, so you washed it, but you need something else, something bolder, something outstanding!!!

Girls: First of all, donʼt wear shorts in the Winter to look cool, unless it really is hot outside. Youʼre just hurting yourself and this doesnʼt really appeal to anyone. In the fall, spring, and summer is a good time to wear cute dresses, capris, and skirts. If youʼre not in to dresses or skirts, wear something bright and outstanding. If you wear black a couple of times, itʼs fine, but if you wear dark colors in the sun, youʼll really start sweating! Green is a very beautiful color, it can be vibrant, cheerful, exotic, and astonishing! Whether itʼs on any piece of clothing, purple matches to every color! If youʼre a ʻtomboyʼ, try wearing a pretty cocoa color or something that suits you. Donʼt just wear t-shirts and sweat pants, once in a while you need to ʻdress upʼ to feel good and Iʼm sure everyone loves to be complimented on what they wear...

# Boys: I know most boys wear shorts in the Winter because they like soccer, but that doesnʼt mean you always have to wear them! Wash them, or get another pair, but at least buy another color to be a little different once in a while! Most girls like when boys wear white, so be sure to add that color in once in a while, maybe a sweatshirt. Be sure to buy some new clothes at least every three months. Don't have the same style all the time, that is boring. Maybe wear something funny, but wearable. For example, suspenders. You might say, “Wow, thatʼs so old”, but really, itʼs cool if you bring the fashion back, or start a new one. Iʼve seen that jerseys have been very fashionable. This might not count as clothing, but mohawks are also becoming the new hair fashion for guys.

MakeupI see that many people are starting to wear make-up. But some of you wear too much!

Here are some tips to help you.

Girls: Almost every girl that I see in school wears makeup, it doesn’t matter if you don’t. A natural glow is all you need:) If you would like to start, follow these tips:

! Start with some light and natural colors! Ask your mom to show you some cool eye shadow combinations! Don’t spend all your money on new cosmetics! Blondie's look nicer with brown eyeliner, not black because black is too harsh! Glitter isn’t such a good idea unless your using it out of school

I’ll see you around girls!

Boys: You guys don’t wear make-up, but if you do or want to, stick only with foundation, nothing else...unless you want to go goth. That’s a whole other story. Check out some tips on the web.pg 5

Page 7: Paw Prints Magazine Edition 2

AccessoriesAccessories are things that make you look somewhat different or ʻprettyʼ, but if you

donʼt wear accessories, thatʼs fine! You actually donʼt need accessories to be ʻprettyʼ.

Girls: Most of you love being fashionable! You wear necklaces and pretty bracelets, but donʼt wear TOO much! 80 bracelets on one hand is way too much. At the most, wear ten bracelets, but thatʼs enough. I donʼt think anyone really wears more than two necklaces, but if you do, it probably looks wrong. Too much bling and sparkles.....UGH! One or two necklaces are fine. Now earrings, try not too wear REALLY long earrings because someone might accidentally pull them off and you will have a bad injury, so the length of your pinkie is maximum. You may wear hoops, but also not too big, its is the same situation with the long earrings. Studs are perfect. The donʼt fall off, unless you donʼt have a back for them, they can be VERY cute and creative, and there is only a 2% chance that anyone will ever accidentally pull them off. So, what Iʼm trying to say is, too much accessories equals BAD.

Boys: You boys really donʼt care about accessories or anything like that, but there is one thing you boys show off.....shoes! Whether itʼs cleats or basketball shoes, you like to show them off. Maybe some of you like to wear necklaces and thatʼs okay, necklaces arenʼt JUST for girls. If you wear TOO much bling or chains, then you will not look good! This does not appeal to any girls, trust me.....Maybe you have piercings on your ears, thatʼs cool, but I donʼt think you should wear long earrings or hoops because that would be weird, theyʼre only for girls. A diamond stud would be fine....it doesnʼt even need to be real diamonds, just something nice.# Check back next week for more Teen Scene tricks and tips!

CrushesSince Valentineʼs Day is coming up, I wanted to talk about something related to the

holiday...CRUSHES! Donʼt pretend you never had one.

Girls: Us girls are all about how to impress our crushes. Whether itʼs showing off your hair, make-up, or clothes. Itʼs also great to show him that youʼre nice and sweet. If a guy likes you, show him that youʼre happy he is interested. If you like a guy, itʼs fine to look pretty, but donʼt go TOO crazy with the make-up, it does not look right. A boy sometimes acts weird around a girl he likes, but do not jump to conclusions because he might just be like that in general. Donʼt get frustrated when a guy doesnʼt like you, just wait and maybe something will change! There is definitely no reason to cry, itʼs only middle school! Happy V-Day!

Boys: You guys probably donʼt even care about girls. Sports and TV are more important to you! Well, I know that there is at least one girl that likes you, but you are too busy to notice. If someone says that so + so likes you and everybody also knows, donʼt make her feel embarrassed, itʼs not a good feeling. Itʼs not the best idea to ask a girl who she likes because you never know...it could be YOU! Drama is horrible especially in middle school and when you get to high school, so try to avoid it. But if you like a girl and she like you back, get up and donʼt be  toad, be a lion! Valentineʼs Day is coming up, and so is the dance, do something special for the one you have an interest in! Buy a carnation for only $1.00! They will be selling carnations in the cafeteria on Jan. 30th through Feb. 7th. pg 6

A CrimeCheesy

Marshmallow

One day in Mrs. Palmeri’s class,!we decided to make s’mores. I don’t know what the other kids were thinking, but I know what I was. How on Earth are we going to make s’mores without a campfire? She said we can put the

marshmallows in the microwave to make them puffy, fluffy, and most importantly, squishy. Then an

image appeared in my head of the marshmallows catching on fire or worse... exploding. But I put the thought behind me because she took out a jumbo bag of marshmallows and we began. I took out the graham crackers and the Hershey chocolate. I was tempted to eat the chocolate, but I knew it would ruin my appetite. Finally it was time to put the marshmallows in the microwave. I set it for 10 seconds and hit START. It grew bigger and bigger until the timer beeped and the moment I opened the door it shrunk and looked like a marshmallow puddle. I put it in between the chocolate and crackers and it tasted great.

Special Joke Story:Winters are fierce in Minnesota where he lives, so the owner of a construction project felt he was doing a good deed when he bought earmuffs for his foreman. Noticing, however, that the foreman wasn't wearing the earmuffs even on the bitterest day, the project manager asked, "Didn't you like the muffs?" The foreman said, "They're a thing of beauty." "Why don't you wear them?" The Project Manager said. The foreman explained, "I was wearing them the first day, and somebody offered to buy me lunch, but I didn't hear him! Never again, never again!"

Android vs iPhoneBy Alan Luo and Abi Cheriath

! Everyone wants to know, which is better, the Android or the iPhone? We donʼt have an opinion but we will take a comprehensive look at both products. Clearly, the Droids have the upper hand in the notifications department: weather, stocks, etc. However, the iPhone IOS-5 catches up to the Android there. The iPhone wins in the category of multitasking. All its apps are easy to get

to from everywhere. For the Android, you have to hold the power button for some time before you get to the main apps page. On the other hand, the Android is better in its social networking aspect. While the iPhone 4 goes in depth with Twitter, Android goes to a whole new level with upgraded Twitter and Facebook capabilities. Both the iPhone and the Android have the same level of camera quality though. With the ever so popular app categories, the result is Apple coming ahead of Verizon. This is because the Android got into

the app system late. With Siri, the iPhone wins in the category of special features. So, all and all, one could say that the iPhone might be just a bit better than the Android. But, that may not be the case sooner or later. Another person could easily argue that the best is yet to come with the Android. I guess we will have to just wait and see. For now, this battle ends in the fact that the iPhone adapted new technology faster than the Android, so I cannot speculate on which one is better. However, the iPhone does not have Flash which Android does. On Android you have more Internet capabilities.

Bubble GumJohn Jean and Lia Jacobs

History:Did you know that bubble gum was an accident? When it was invented, Walter E. Diemer was down in his basement testing how to make flavor last longer in gum. He ended up with gum that was less sticky and more flexible. Hence, bubble gum was born. The first and only bubble gum for awhile was Double Bubble, but then came Bazooka. In the later years, people wrongly thought that bubble gum could cause cancer.

• The world record for the largest bubble blown is 23 inches.

• Pink was the only dye available to Diemer when he

• created bubble gum so all bubble gum was pink for a very long time.

• Walter Diemer was an accountant for a chewing gum factory who was just playing around with gum one day.

• Bubble gum has less gum base in it than regular chewing gum which is what helps make it more flexible.

• Walter Diemer never patented his• invention. • 100,000 tons of gum is chewed every• year.• An average American chews 300 sticks of gum

per year.• There is an alley with brick walls covered in ABC

(already been chewed) gum in San Luis Obispo, CA. (Click Here)

• The official gum of major league baseball• is Bubble Yum.

Valentine’s Day

• Women purchase 85% of all Valentine’s• About 1,000,000,000 Valentine’s day cards are exchanged in the US• Parents receive 1 out of 5 Valentine’s• 73% of people who buy roses on Valentine’s Day are men• The Italian city of Verona, where Shakespeare’s lovers Romeo• and Juliet lived, receives about 1,000 letters addressed to• Juliet every Valentine’s Day• Alexander Graham Bell applied for his patent on the• telephone, an ”Improvement in Telegraphy” on Valentines Day 1876• Worldwide, over 50 million roses are given on Valentine’s Day• each year•About 3% of pet owners will give Valentine’s Day gifts to their pets• Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day are the biggest holidays for giving roses

! My friend is currently anorexic. I am trying to get her to eat! How can I help her!?

Love,Concerned Friend

Delilah’s Response I have never experienced having someone I know being anorexic. I think the best thing I have to say is make her forget about it. Distract her at one point and she might even reach for the food. Try to find a meal that she enjoys and help her get used to it. When she is feeling down, let her know that you are there to help her every step of the way. If she will not eat at all, I believe you should just talk with her parents or the school nurse and don’t get too tied into it. Being anorexic can be very depressing, so try to cheer her up by hanging out. This is all I really can tell you, but if you have another question, ask me, I will always answer you back with all my knowledge.

Delilah! What is the best band in the world!!!???

Music Lover

Delilah’s Response These types of questions I do not usually answer, but it depends. If a person likes rock and another likes country, they can think differently. On the other hand, I myself like pop and country so my favorite band would have to be The Plain White T’s because they sing my favorite song, “Hey There Delilah”. If you would like to ask me any more reasonable questions, please put your question in the box in Mrs. Palmeri’s room. Delilah

# Good morning! This is the 10:00 A.M. News. Today, our first story is a remarkably unexpected story. One day, five girls made a club for only girls like them, but these girls are a little different the all the others. For some scientific unknown reason, when these girls became friends, they became the most popular people on Earth and we are here to interrogate their everyday lives. # "Yo, Bessy! Catch!" A big red dodge-ball hit Bessy in the face. For the sixth time in a row. Bessy is a total outcast because of her weight. She can't even fit through a doorway without a teacher helping her out. Her real name isn't even Bessy, it's Becky. See, total outcast.

# "The answer to that question is 4,299,905,835. It is, right?" Missy. Another total outcast. Missy has glasses too big for her head and is a big brainiac. Whenever she tries to make small-talk, it turns into big-talk. Yeah, "Blah, blah, blah..." until she finally scares kids away. Outcast #2.

# "Uh... cat... the... yard... for... lake... um, can I start over?" Didi is a dyslectic girl with flaming red hair and over a million freckles to match. Oh, did I mention her

overly big teeth. Outcast #3. # "Mira... Mira! Answer the question!"# "Huh?" Mira the doodler, day-dreamer, total hippy. Only one thing, she only wears black. Which makes her Outcast #4.

# "Can you help me out (spit sprays everywhere)? I got sum gum thuck in ma braces." Kora, the one girl on Earth who doesn't know the expression, "Say it, don't spray it." I guess when she got those braces the

dentist never told her to not eat hard sticky stuff because that's all she eats. No one will help her because she spits so much making her the last Outcast #5.

# Together these five girls make a club where it doesn't matter what anyone says, The Outcast Club. There is only one obstacle. Cici, the most perfect girl ever that can never mind her own business.

pg 17

Page 19: Paw Prints Magazine Edition 2

# "I saw them hanging out and isn't it, like, a little suspicious, like, for, like, all these outcasts to be, like, hanging out. I had to, like, find out what was going on," explained Cici.

# "Why isn't Cici an outcast! Well, aside from her thousands of dollars and perfectness, she is such a mean and hurtful person," bellowed Bessy into the# news microphone.# After we begged Mira to talk she finally said, "I don't really care. Life is life, things happen. Can I go to sleep now?" Maybe we should have just left her alone. # "Um... how do I read the teleprompter thingy again. Cici... show... no... bee... popcorn,” said Didi confused.# "It says, Cici should not be popular."# "Oh, sorry," This girl really needs to learn how to read. # "According  to my calculations, Cici's popularity is 97.89% of the school. So, because we are on the news, we're more popular. Yes!"# "Sure thing." Let's just go. # "Well, I like caramel, gum, taffy, my favorite holiday is Halloween because of the candy, what was the question again?" Our last and only hope of answering any questions was the teacher. # "I would never call the children outcasts! Every child is special, but if you ask me... I've noticed some social issues with Cici." # Well there you have it, 5 girls who once were nobodies are now world-wide stars and maybe even more popular than the town's popular princess, Cici Maroon. # "No! I, like, demand for someone to, like, stop this broadcast right, like, now! Get away from me! NO ONE'S MORE POPULAR THAN ME, like!"
