The only thing I want other than

a triple word score is to score a loving, forever home. My name

is Furball (A312863) and I am homeless through no fault of my own. My

dad is in the military and was being deployed. I was sad to see him go but was

happy that someone

stepped up, adopted me and

promised to take care of me. Well, their definition of taking care of me meant leaving me on the doorstep

of a shelter. I am just 4-years-old, current on vaccinations, neutered and litterbox-trained. I love

to be brushed and scratched under the neck. Despite being bounced around and abandoned, I am the most loving, easy-going companion you

could ever want. I was so well-behaved at the cover shoot and I purred the entire time. I was even good

in the car! I really enjoy feeling loved and hope you’ll rescue me! If you don't need a dictionary to know what the definition of a forever family truly is, please call New Hanover Sheriff’s Office Animal Services at 910-798-7500 today. A special thank you to photographer Dick Parrott for taking my pic and giving me the chance at ‘Words with Friends’.

Howdy! My name is PJ and I’m an 8 pound female

Chihuahua who is

9-years-old. I’ve already

been spayed and I’m cur-rent on vac-cinations. I lived in a home my

entire life, I have excel-lent house

manners, I get along with everyone and I’m even ‘pad-trained’. To say I am the ideal small dog is an understate-

ment! I hope someone adopts me soon because I am used to living with a family and other dogs. If you would like to make me the happiest girl in the world, please call 910-383-2100 or visit Furever Friends Animal Rescue’s

website online at fureverfriendsanimalrescue.org.

I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach. Thank you!

COOL DUDE

ALERT! My name is Adonis and I'm a 5-year-old sweet-heart of a boy. I'm neutered and up to date on all

my vaccina-tions and

you can find me at Pet-Sense in

Shallotte. I am one cool

dude who is easy-going and laid-back and I can go with the flow. So if you have a crazy household, just know it won’t bother me in the least. Not many cats can say that! If you would like to know more about me or would like to inquire

about the adoption process, please call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557. You may also visit www.adoptanangel.net

for more details.

I am sponsored by Perry Davis. Thank you!

A SHELTER FRIEND

My name is Cooper and I’m still here, still waiting for you to realize that we belong together. If you re-member, I was horribly abused and my former owner did jail time on ac-count of it. I have closed the book on that chapter. In my new life, to

say I’m intelligent and affectionate is putting it mildly – I CRAVE human contact! I love to run and play and

see and smell every new thing around that was denied me in my past. I've had profes-sional obedience training and I am neutered, vaccinated

and on heartworm preventative. Please call Emily at 910-862-1806 to learn even more about me! You can visit A

Shelter Friend online at www.AShelterFriend.org.

ONSLOW COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES

My name is Unique (A079439). I’m still young and still a “work in progress” as they say. I know

there are some aggravating stages I’m going through, but these are

just stages and I will learn because I’m smart. I’m a Treeing Walker Hound pup. I can promise you

this, once I’m trained, you’ll never regret your decision to help me through these awkward

days I’m experiencing. Please give me a chance to prove myself to you by coming into the shelter and asking to see me, Unique, “the special needs double gender” dog with a heart as big as Texas. I will love my human family and will make adjustments needed to fit into your life. I just need a

loving family to watch over and one that will also watch over me! The shelter is located at 244 Georgetown Road

in Jacksonville. To adopt me, call 910-455-0182.

ALL 4 CATS

All 4 Cats is introducing a pro-gram designed to place senior

cats with senior citizens. "Seniors 4 Seniors" aims at

improving the lives of seniors through pet ownership as well

as helping senior cats, who are often overlooked, find loving

forever homes. All adoptable cats are spayed/neutered,

microchipped, vaccinated, and have been analyzed physically and behaviorally. With Seniors 4 Seniors the adoption fee is waived. My name is Kate and I’m a senior girl who is ready to offer affection to a senior or other aged, loving person. Please call 919-710-3872 to visit

with me in my Wilmington foster home.

OPERATION TOPCAT

My name is Bettina and I’m a sweet, gentle 1-year-old

girl with a quiet per-sonality. I’m dark

gray and white with cool white whiskers. I was rescued along with 4 babies that I was caring for after losing my own babies. I like to be petted and would make a

wonderful companion. I am looking for a safe, loving, inside home with toys, of course - especially little stuffed mice. If you or someone you know is looking for a cutie

pie, please email [email protected] or call 910-200-0612.

PENDER ENDANGERED ANIMAL RESCUE

I’m Da Kidd, an English Bull Dog mix! I came to P.E.A.R.

from the side of the road, where I had been wandering

the streets of Wilmington. I am now being boarded in a vet’s

office and I have been operated on several times for a major

problem with my male parts. I have been through a lot and the bills are getting larger for my stay at the vet and for the operations. Please, if anyone

can help with the vet bills, please contact us today! Every-one loves me and they just want me to get healthy and live a happy life with a loving family. For more information, call

910-675-0867 or email [email protected].

ONSLOW PARTNERS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE

We are a litter of 7-week-old kittens who were found in an abandoned house. We are playful, curious and very sweet little ones who are ready to give you love, happiness, en-

tertainment and kisses. Please contact OCPAW at 484-883-3552 or [email protected].

PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM

I am a WINNER and I have the certificate to prove it! My name is Jordan and I came in 3rd in all of

NC in a contest where I per-formed tricks and showed how well-trained I am. I sure made my trainer proud! As awesome as I am, I haven't yet found that special someone who wants to make me his or her forever dog. I'm a tiny bit shy but I will warm up to you quickly. I will be your best pal forever. I’m not quite a

year old, a small male mixed breed about 25 pounds. So please come visit me and let me show you why I was on

the winner's stand! Visit Monty's Home online at www.montyshome.org. Write to [email protected]

for more details, or call us at 910-297-1338.

CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY

My name is Milo. I am a handsome, neutered male (born April 2010). I was

returned when my family no longer wanted me. I can't explain to my foster mom what happened while I was living

at my other home but I am afraid of heavy shoes/boots. I had a difficult time transitioning to my foster home

because I needed to learn that it was okay to trust some-one again. Once I trust you, I am very sweet. I love to

have my foster mom scratch my neck and back. I follow her around the house because I am interested in every-

thing she does. I would love a home with a patient family and lots of love. I have lots of love to give and I am worth it. To learn more about me, please call 910-330-1376 or

email [email protected].

COLUMBUS HUMANE SOCIETY

My name is Parker and I am around 2-years-old. I am a Lab mix and a

very nice fellow. I have made a very positive adjustment from being a

yard Hound in the dirt of Columbus County to being a snuggly, affection-ate indoor pet with perfect manners and a new lease on life. My sister Moxie and I were at the shelter for days and days, easily overlooked,

until we ran out of time. CHS came to the rescue and took me to the vet,

where I was neutered and vaccinated. Here is what I like: all humans, other dogs, running and swimming, chewing on any available toy or bone, and having a soft bed in the warm sunshine. If you can hook me up with the above,

please contact my foster mom, Jennifer, at [email protected] or 910-619-3015.

PET FRIENDS OF DUPLIN COUNTY

I'm a handsome Walker Hound

named Camper. I'm a happy dog who loves every-one, other dogs, cats, and people of all sizes. I'm 2 to 3-years-old, neutered, up to

date on vaccina-tions and on

heartworm prevention. I did ok in the house, but I'm really happier outside. My dream is to find a family with a farm

or property where I can run around in the day, then curl up on a rug inside in the evening. Maybe you can make my

dream come true, call 910-271-3101 to meet me.

COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (C.A.R.E.)

Hello, my name is Castille and I was

surrendered to C.A.R.E. with injuries

that were suspected to have been caused

from being hit by a car. The volunteers of

C.A.R.E. have been great in treating me. I am ready to find my

new home. Could it be with you? If you are

interested in adopting me, please call

910-256-2624 or visit www.carewilmington.org and fill out an application.

FUREVER FRIENDS ANIMAL

RESCUE

Hi, my name is Percy and I’m a 4-month-old, 11 pound, male Pug and Beagle mix. A

kind lady named Chris saved me from a horri-ble fate and got me the treatment I needed for a skin condition. I am feeling great now. I’m a healthy, sweet and

loving little boy who enjoys being with other animals and humans. I will stay a medium-sized pup when full grown.

Please make me a member of your family by calling 910-383-2100 or visiting fureverfriendsanimalrescue.org.

URGENT, URGENT! My Time Is Running Out!

If it saddens you to see such a happy, friendly boy

like me in a precarious situation, I hope you’ll come get to know me! My name is Benjamin

(A013980) and I’m a Lab mix who is already neu-tered. I have the cutest underbite which makes everyone smile (so I’m sure I’d be a hit in your

neighborhood as you walk me around.) I walk very

well on a leash and I keep a clean kennel, which sug-

gests I’ve been house-trained or crate-trained. I’m a 7-year-old sweetheart who would prefer a home with no

other dogs - you and I can just love on each other! I’m not much of a barker and I get along with all the people I meet.

I’ve been waiting for a home since early September, so please hurry! There are many dogs arriving and not enough room for us all. My adoption fee includes Distemper/Parvo vaccine, Kennel Cough vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, deworm-ing and 30 day flea/tick treatment. The shelter is open on Sundays, from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week. It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm.

For more info, please call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-1484 or email [email protected].

I am sponsored in loving memory of Hank Harrington.

URGENT, URGENT! My Time Is

Running Out! Hello! I’m Stevie

(A014136) and I’m a wonderful male kitten. The folks at the shelter just love me and can’t

understand why I’ve been waiting for a home since September 19! As you

can see, I love being held in a person’s arms - I purr the whole time and I don’t struggle to get down like some felines do. I’m still

just a baby at 5-months-old and I get along well with other cats. I’m super-sweet and friendly and would be a wonder-ful companion for a family with kids, a single person, or a retired couple. And a house, apartment, or condo would

be a fine place to live! My point is, I’d be a loving friend to anyone, anywhere, and I hope you’ll come meet me! But hurry: cats arrive at the shelter daily and there is simply

not enough room for us all. My adoption fee includes vac-cines, deworming, 30 day flea/multiparasite treatment and my neuter surgery. The shelter is open on Sundays, from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week. It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. For info, call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-1484 or email

[email protected]. I can’t wait to be your new best friend!

I am sponsored by Pine Valley Animal Hospital.

Adopt-An-ANGEL

►My name is Kirby and I am a little shy. I would benefit from being

adopted into a home with another well-balanced dog. I am young enough that I will overcome this if you’ll be pa-tient and give me

TLC and socializa-tion. I am just 9-

months old and will probably grow to be only 50 pounds at most. I also need

a quiet home without small kids (who can be noisy at times). I am absolutely beautiful with my pretty golden fur.

◄My name is Bo, and if I do say so myself, I am drop dead gorgeous!! I

have deep chocolate fur that is almost

black. I am a dream on a leash, have

excellent manners and am super easy. I do well with other

dogs and I am house-trained. I weigh about 55

pounds so I am a mid-sized family dog who is already fixed and vaccinated.

►My name is Belle and I am a vision-

impaired Black Lab/Pit mix who is home-

less. I’ve had a rough life so far, hav-ing lived my life in a junk yard, but you

can help change that. I can’t see very well

so I can't find my family. Please share

your eyes with me and help me. I can-not see out of one eye and I only see shadows out of my

other. I am a gentle, funny, easy dog who gets along with cats and dogs. I do need a patient, stable, quiet family because of my rough

start. I need someone who doesn’t have a lot of company in and out. I like to carry tennis balls and hoard toys! I am house-trained, fixed, vaccinated and heartworm negative.

►My name is Hazel and I am a doll. I am a miniature Lab who

weighs 35 pounds. I do well with kids and other animals and I am

super sweet, easy-going and quiet. I would make a great little apart-

ment dog or even a first time pet for someone. I am black and did you know that black dogs and cats are

the most overlooked animals in ani-mal shelters? You can change that statistic for me if you come running to adopt me FIRST! I can be seen at Petco every Saturday

and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

◄My name is Mona Lisa and check out my Mona Lisa smile! My beauty and personality can put

Julia Roberts to shame. I am an absolute doll. I came in to the animal

shelter pregnant and de-livered my puppies there.

I raised them all and watched while every one of them got adopted. I

couldn't be more proud of them out there making all

of their families happy. Unfortunately, that means I have been homeless since June

- which is a long time for anyone to go without feeling the warmth and contentment that a real home has to offer. I am

now undergoing heartworm treatment and that is my next hurdle to jump although they tell me I have to remain quiet throughout the treatment. Adopt-An-ANGEL is paying for it

so my new family won't have that burden to carry. I do great with other animals and kids and appear very stable and well balanced. If you adopt me, I promise you will never regret it

and I will be ever so grateful to finally be HOME.

►Hello there! My name is Armstrong and I am a very good boy. I am happy and exuberant. I seem to

do well with other dogs but I’m just not too fond of cats. I enjoy having

fun and I love to pull my foster mom on a skate-board or run alongside a bike. I love to play, but I am really calm

inside a house. If you are active people, I would even do well in an apartment. I am neutered, heartworm negative, vaccinated and weigh

around 50 to 60 pounds.

I am Skittles and, like all the dogs in my "candy" group, I am named after candy. I'm

just a young boy, 10-months-old and full of pep! I'm a mix of two completely awesome breeds - Border Collie and Hound. I'm house-trained,

neutered and up to date with my shots. I'm being trained by inmates at a local prison and, though I'm a great boy

as is, the training I will get will make me sheer perfection.

Check out my photo - it's kind of surprising that someone would cast off a beautiful doggy like me. But I don't

want to think about my sad past. I just want to think about you, the person who will adopt me and bring me into a

loving home for the rest of my life. For adoption info, visit www.montyshome.org, write to [email protected],

or call us at 910-297-1338. PLEASE LIKE US ON FACEBOOK at www.facebook.com/montyshome.

I am sponsored by Barb Raab in honor of the

volunteers of Monty’s Home. Thank you!

Hey there, my name is

Melanie! I was a young

mommy, and I was

very good at it. My baby Sunny was

adopted recently,

and I would be so grate-

ful if you would take

me home with you today! You see, I’m spayed so that there will be no more babies in my future. In fact, I would like to be the baby that is cuddled and kissed in my new

family! I’m also vaccinated and litterbox-trained. My per-sonality is most definitely friendly and loving, and I get

along well with others. So how about it - won’t you come meet me? Call Cat Adoption Team at 910-792-9014 if

you’d like more information. I’m also at Petsmart in Wilmington seven days a week!

I am sponsored by ECM Corporation. Thank you!

►Hi Guys! My name is Libra (A075280) and I

am a 6-month-old domestic short hair cat. So here's the thing: I am on a

search, or maybe we will just call it an adven-ture. On this search I am looking for some-

thing very important to me, a friend, a com-

panion, and someone to wake up with every

morning. Are you on the same search? Here I am!

►Hi, PawPrints read-ers! My name is Nova (A075288) and I am a 9-month-old Labrador

Retriever mix girl. I am only 30 pounds! What a perfect size: not too big and not too small. More important than

my weight is my ability to make you laugh. I'll admit it, I am quite the

comedian and I can't wait to entertain you. So if you’re ready to

smile and have a great time the rest of your

life, come get me!

homes, it's my turn! Like everyone else on this page, I’m fixed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. Let’s go home!

◄I'm a curious and sweet girl

named Caylie. I love to play with feather toys and walk around with

you! Sometimes I am shy at first, but once I know you, I'll be your best

buddy. I'm a very loving girl looking for a forever home

where I can settle down for good. I’m also spayed, vacci-nated and litterbox-trained. Won't you come meet me?

▲I'm Marcus, a big boy with a really sweet, gentle nature. I'm a 1-year-old orange Tabby who is friendly and gets

along well with others, but I can be a bit shy until I get to know you. Please consider giving me a chance!

▲I'm Maggie, a sweet and playful girl! I have lived with one other cat and loved wrestling with him. I am also

used to children and ok with dogs, too. Please take me home and give me all the love and attention I deserve!

everyone calls me

Mama. We think I’m a Shepherd/

Lab mix and I’ll even tell

you my weight – about 75

pounds! I’ve come a long way since

my arrival with my puppies. They have been adopted and now, I look forward to when I go for walks and I even wag my tail when I see people come into the kennel. I frighten easily and I still have a lot to learn, but I have a good soul that just needs a person or family that will have patience with me. I have completed my treatment for heartworms and now I’m healthy. I’m the first dog you will see when

you arrive here. Please call Paw’s Place at 910-845-7297 and tell them you’d like to meet me. We’re open every day

from 9am-Noon so pick your day and come on over!

I am sponsored in loving memory of Grace Harrington.

Is a fluffy, adorable kitten in your future? I hope so, be-cause I’m Mac and I happen to be one! I'm a little boy who loves cuddles and snuggles with humans. I enjoy playing with toys - jingly ones, dangly ones, furry ones -

and I’m already neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I am not a big fan of dogs or young children, but I get along great with other cats. If you’d like to meet me and see how sweet I am in person, swing on by Petsmart in Wilmington. You can also call Cat Adoption Team at 910-792-9014 if you’d like more information. Thanks for

reading and I hope to be cuddling with you soon!

▲We sound like we should be a couple of cows, Gussie and Garnett. Guess we’re kinda like cows, ‘cause we are

black and white. We are 7-month-old sisters. We look a lot alike, but that silly Gussie is kinda cross-eyed. I warned

her that her eyes would stay that way if she kept doing that when we were kittens and well, I guess I was right! We are both fixed and vaccinated and ready to go home with you.

◄With a sweet name like Cupcake, I have a very sad story. At

9-years-old, my owner didn’t want me anymore. I cried for quite a while, but I realize this is just a

chance for me to find someone who will

love me forever. I am sure I am not the first

female who was dumped when she got a little older. I am a beautiful white

kitty with one blue eye and one green eye and lots of love to give. Maybe I can be your cougar?

►I like to think they named

me after Gina Lollobrigida, because we

are both beau-tiful and love attention. I

am a 3-year-old pastel Cal-ico with blue eyes. Yep,

you read that correctly…blue eyes.

Frank Sinatra has nothing on

me either. So I guess I have the best of two well-known and attractive movie stars but what I really want is to be

your star. We could make lots of movies together.

◄Watson, come quickly, I need you. That’s what Bell said but in reality, you need me. I am a 5-year-old boy who is black and white, tall and thin, very active and playful. I’ve been waiting around quite a while to find a home. Won’t you be the one to phone me?

►They gave me a dog’s name, Spot. How humili-

ating for a cat! I don’t fetch and I don’t drool. I am a 9-month-old pastel Calico. I know, you’re going to say I

look buff and white, but looks can be deceiving and really, I am a Calico. They

say I’m really sweet and love everyone, but I am a Calico, so be forewarned.

►With a name like Teddy, you know I must love to be snuggled. I

make such a great teddy bear, even rolling

over to give you my tummy for a nice belly

rub. I am a unique, dark orange kitty with no stripes, just a lot of

“ticked” fur. They say I look like an Abyssinian mix. I am 8-months-old

so I’m young enough to play but old enough to sleep at night. We all need our beauty rest!

Gussie Garnett

◄I wish I lived at the top of a skyscraper like the girl I’m named after, Eloise. I don’t have a pet turtle how-ever. Cats don’t want pets, as they reign supreme. I am a 7-month-old, black and white, energetic kitten. I am not a cat for someone who is sedate because I love to run and jump all over the room and toss my toys in the air.

Page 18: PawPrints Magazine November 2014

My name is Skippy

(A078190). Just when I

thought I had most of life’s prob-

lems all ironed out -

along comes a

big wrinkle in my life and I’ve

found my-self at the

Animal Shelter and have no idea why. But anyway, here I am, in a real mess. Oh, it’s not like the people here aren’t

loving and kind because they are - it’s not the same as hav-ing your very own family to love up on you. By the way, I’m

7-years-old and loved to play with my human family. At present I’m looking for a new family to love me, so please

come see me at the Onslow County Animal Shelter. If you’ll just visit with me you’ll know I’m exactly what you’ve been looking for! After all, how many cats have all these quali-ties: Well-behaved, vaccinated, friendly, good with dogs,

litter-box trained, declawed, and neutered. Hope to see you soon! The shelter is located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville. To adopt me, please call 910-455-0182.

I am sponsored by Dan and Sue Tuman in honor of all

the cats who are waiting for homes at the shelter.

Hello everyone! My name is Angel and everyone that meets me agrees that my name fits me perfectly. I

came from a bad situation. You see, I was never spayed

or taken to see a veterinarian for routine medical

care. Therefore, I have had several litters of puppies, I

was covered in fleas, and I had

intestinal parasites. But all of that

changed when my foster mom rescued me. I am now spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies, I am

heartworm negative, and my intestinal parasites are gone. I am now taking monthly heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention. I am a Lab mix, approxi-

mately 3-years-old and am a deep chocolate color. I am house-trained and crate-trained, walk well on a leash, am good with other dogs, and I tend to ignore cats. My foster

mom wants you to know that I am super-sweet, calm in the house, and I REALLY want to please my people. If you think that I might be the Angel you've been looking

for, please call my foster mom at 910-763-7263 or email [email protected].

◄Hi there! I’m Zoe and I’m a 4-year-old Tabby girl. I found myself at the shelter when my family moved away. I’m already spayed, litterbox-trained, friendly to children and accustomed to living with a friendly dog and another cat. I’m also used to living indoors and I love dry food. Adopt me!

◄We are a brother/sister pair

named Tee (girl) and

Toby (boy) and we

would be great family cats! We

love everyone we meet

and couldn’t be nicer if we tried. We’re in superb health, we’re friendly to kids, we’re used to living indoors-only and we’re fantastic kissers and cuddlers. Adopt us!

▲Kittens, Kittens! We are a sister/brother pair who are waiting for loving homes. I’m the girl on the left, sitting

up tall. My brother is on the right, relaxing in front of the window. We haven’t yet been named because we want our new families to do the honors! We’re 12-weeks-old and sweet as can be. We love to cuddle and play with

toys and can be adopted together or separately.

Weather permitting, our annual yard sale will be held at the

shelter (2405 North 23rd Street across

from the airport) on Saturday, November

15, from 8am to 2pm. All proceeds benefit the animals at the shelter. Call 910-763-6692 for more information.

◄When you visit me, you’re gonna see I’m a true beauty! I have dazzling

green eyes and fluffy Calico fur.

The prettiest thing about me, though, is my personality. My name is Cali and I’m

a 1½-year-old girl who is already spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I once lived in a home with a 9-year-old child and we got along well. I’m also okay with other cats.

(I’ve never yet met a dog!) Could I be the one for you?

Tee Toby

◄I’m an adorable, purebred Chihuahua named Pequeňo! (That means ‘little’ in Spanish.) I’m good with kids, house-trained, neutered, up to date on shots and on heartworm pre-vention. I enjoy be-ing held (I weigh just 13 pounds) and I’m simply darling. Let’s fall in love today!

I'm Savannah, a 3-year-old

female Tabby. I have already

been spayed and I’m current on vaccinations,

too. I'm a laid-back and easy-going gal who

enjoys the sim-ple pleasures in life: a nap in a

sunny window, a nice person who knows just the right spot to

scratch under my chin, and deli-

cious cat treats! I'd love to settle down with a great family. Pick me! If you would like to know more about me or would like to inquire about the adoption process, please give Adopt-An-ANGEL

I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster

My name is Marge and I’m a dear, sweet

girl who is always passed by. I am to-tally perfect but, be-cause I’m a black

dog, I’m often totally overlooked. At one

adoption, where peo-ple were looking at all the other dogs except me, I put my paw on a passerby, as if to

say, “Please don't go. I would like someone

to visit me, too.” Please come see me

(I’m named after Marge Simpson) and you will fall in love with me just like

everyone else has! I’m beautiful inside and out. I’m house-trained, spayed and up to date with shots. I was trained by inmates at a local prison in the Pawsitive Partners Prison

◄My name is Smokey (A312020) and I’m a British Shorthair boy. I’m only 2-years-old and just want someone to love me. My handsome looks and loving nature will captivate you the moment we meet. Playing with cat toys and exploring my surroundings make me happy. I’ve al-ready been neutered and I’m current on vaccinations. So you know what that means - I can go home with you today!

◄Orange Tabby Cats Rule! My name is Mitchell (A313261) and I’m 2-year-old, neutered and vaccinated boy. I like to talk and I’m a good listener. I’m social and adventurous and I don't like being in a cage with-out a family. I don't like it one bit! I really love hu-man contact and crave being petted. After all, I am a companion animal! Please come by the shel-ter and adopt me today.

►My name is Little Girl (A312582) and my fam-

ily surrendered me when they could no

longer care for me. I came in with two of my dog family members so if you have any dogs, I would probably be ac-

cepting of them. At just 3-years of age, I have

mastered the art of mak-ing people feel loved. I crave being rubbed and brushed, I purr all of the time, I give head butts

and I will rub and nuzzle against you. I’m very

sweet and social and I enjoy being by your side (or in your lap). I’m also laid-back and gentle. What more could you ask for? Come meet me and I promise your day will be

better for it (or your life will be better for it if you adopt me).

►If you are looking to adopt a great dog who is good with

children of all sizes, then we should meet each other. My

name is Pluto (A313948) and I’m a 2-year-old Lab mix who

rarely barks and never bites. I was originally adopted from the shelter but my mom is

very sick and in the hosptial. While I was with them, I loved my family unconditionally but

understand why I need to move forward with finding a new home. I’m a really nice guy who knows how to sit,

stay and lay down on command. I am house-trained and crate-trained and I like to be brushed. Rescue me!

►My ear was tipped when I went through a feral cat

program to be neutered but I am the polar opposite of

feral. I am one of the, if not the most friendly cat in the world. I love everyone, I love being held, I’m a Lap

Cat, I’m extremely affectionate, I like playing

with feathered toys (see my picture) and I love neck and head massages. My name

is Buddikins (A311868) and I will rub against your hand, leg, foot, arm...well, you get the idea. I’ll even

stand up on my hind legs to nudge your hand with my head. I’m a charming guy who will make you feel like you’re the center of the universe. So if you have narcissitic qualities

and require excessive admiration, I’m the cat for you!

◄I’m Romo (A313949) and I’m looking for someone to

help support my addiction to love. Other than food and shelter, that’s ALL I really

want...love. I was once part of a family and was the center of everyone’s attention until a

tiny human came along. It was just too much for me to

feel pushed to the back burner so I’m here at the shel-

ter hoping to find a forever home. I know how to sit for treats, I love being brushed,

I’m eager to please, and I’ll be your faithful companion. I’m already neutered and vacci-

nated and looking for a home without small kids.

Page 22: PawPrints Magazine November 2014

My name is Harley and I am a super, loveable BIG

cat. I do great with cats, kids and dogs, too. In fact, I am part dog or

maybe I was a dog in a former

life. I follow you around

and want to be near you just like a dog. I

am a little older and I have

diabetes which is easily con-trolled with

insulin. The vet thinks it is possible that I can get off this insulin soon and maybe get it managed with just special food. That’s my goal along with finding a loving home. It is very easy for you to give me shots twice a day and I am feeling so much better now. If you are interested in meeting me,

please call and my groupie girls can tell you more about me and more about this diabetes stuff. Honestly, it’s easy stuff and not too much money either. Adopt-An-ANGEL’s phone number is 910-392-0557 - I highly recommend you call it.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to DJ Donna Plowman (Creator and Event Coordinator of our largest fundraising event...the

Annual Cause for the Paws, now in its 3rd year) and her husband, Larry, and the many supporters who donated to and/or attended.

This event is increasingly success-ful each year and gives us the opportunity to continue our low cost spay/neuter program, the

Patriot Fund and the Building Fund for our Wildlife Sanctuary.

(see website www.oc-paw.com & Facebook pages for details)

We are Jade and Tiggeret.

Our mother was killed in traffic when we were

very young. We are now 12-

weeks-old and very precious,

playful little kittens who will

fill your days with laughs and kisses. We are litterbox-trained, play well with other cats, dogs and children and we come with a certificate for spay/

neuter. We hope you will give us a new chance at life. We’ve been told that Tuxedo cats are significantly more

intelligent than regular cats (including all other breeds and varieties). Research indicates that this difference may be

as great as 200%. To adopt, contact OCPAW at [email protected] or call 484-883-3552.

Thank you to Taylor Greene for the donation of the meat for the BBQ Plates! Scott Hoffman

My name is Bud and I am a 2-year Golden Retriever mix who is neutered and vaccinated. I was rescued from the backyard of people who fed me very little, kept me outside in the snow and heat, and never took me to the vet. I

endured 2-years of ear infections that rendered surgery the only option for me. Since I was penniless and neglected, my future looked hopeless. But, luck fell upon me and a group of foster families nurtured me and got me medical care. The first surgery to open my ear canals was unsuccessful. I endured a second procedure in an attempt to

remove the infection and scar tissue, but to no avail - I was a sick pup. However, I got lucky again (must be karma since I am such a good boy) and with the quick intervention of Dr. Stolls at ECVM and coordination and financial aid of OCPAW, I had a final surgery that removed my infected middle ear and canals. I feel so good now and I look just as handsome as I did before. I can still hear my foster siblings bark, the doorbell ring, my humans whistle and my

name spoken loudly. I know that I have been fortunate, my only remaining desire is to find a forever home. I am so very loving, 100% potty-trained, and I am a wonderful companion to both my canine and human siblings. Please consider my adoption. Love and licks, Bud. Contact OCPAW at [email protected] or call 484-883-3552 for

more information. Donations for my medical expenses can be made on our website at www.oc-paw.com.

◄▲PICK A PUPPY!!! We are called the

September puppies, because that is when we arrived. We were born in the middle of August and we are

considered to be Feist mixes. Mom was about 30 pounds and Dad was 15 pounds, so we don’t

think we will get too big. There are seven of

us – 6 boys and 1 girl! We tend to be a little on the shy side and we’re fairly quiet. Paw’s Place thinks that we will be available for adoption by the end of November. At that time, we will all be vaccinated, spayed, neutered and

microchipped. Come on out NOW to meet us and fill out a pre-adoption application!

◄I was named Murphy by the lady who found me. She saw me standing in

the middle of the road. I had no more energy to

go on. She opened her arms

and I walked right into them. Little did I know that a fresh new life was about to begin for me as I found my way to Paw’s Place. I was evaluated by a vet and given all of my shots. They

also determined that I had a bad mouth infection and needed surgery. So now I have eight less teeth, but I don’t miss them. I’m not a youngster at about 8-years-

old, but I’m a happy-go-lucky dog. It would be so nice to have a family of my own. How about yours?

◄My name is Winnie and I am so

grateful to the couple who found me on the highway a few months

ago. I was starving and in need of medical atten-

tion. As you can see, I am a Hound mix

who weighs about 45 pounds. I’m up to date

on everything AND heartworm negative! I’m

about 3-years-old and my favorite thing to do is to sit on top of my igloo watching everything.

I get a better view from up there. Come on out to Paw’s Place and pay me a visit. You will be happy you did!

RAISE THE RUFF WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! THANK YOU!!!!

The net proceeds for this event was $52,300 which will go towards our indoor facility for our dogs. Thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors, supporters and volunteers.

It is through your efforts we are one step closer to our dream becoming a reality.

My name is Brady. I'm a Labrador Retriever and Pit mix who is a very playful 1-year-old. I love all people and other dogs. I'm around 55 to 60 pounds of lap dog. I love to be close to you and cuddle and I also love chil-

dren. In fact, I would love to find a home with children or other dogs and a fenced yard to play in. My favorite time

of day is when my foster mom comes home from work and takes me outside and plays ball with me. I love to chase the ball and I’ll bring it back to her so she can throw it again. I'm house-trained and crate-trained. I also love to ride in the car, go to the beach, take long walks and go in the fenced backyard and play with my

foster brother. I'm neutered, vaccinated, heartworm free and just waiting on someone to call Cape Fear Rescue League at 910-207-2071. Hope to hear from you soon.

URGENT, URGENT! I’m Running Out of

Time! I’m a true Family Dog who needs your help! My name is Malachi (A014049) and I

just don’t understand my predicament. I’ve got all the qualities everyone hopes for

in a dog - house-trained, leash-trained, friendly to

children, friendly to adults, good with commands such as ‘sit’ - and yet I’m running out of time! I’m 9-years-old,

but please don’t let that number fool you: I have the

heart of a youth and love to play. I’ll be right by your side on the beach, around the neighborhood and at the park. I’d be best in a home with female dogs rather than males, and no cats, please. I have the sweetest, most loving personality and I’m a Black Lab - one of the most popular breeds in America! Please hurry over, okay? My adoption fee in-cludes Distemper/Parvo vaccine, Kennel Cough vaccine,

Rabies Vaccine, deworming, 30 day flea/tick treatment and my neuter surgery. The shelter is open on Sundays, from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week. It’s

also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. For more infor-mation, please call Pender County Animal Shelter at

I get along just great with other dogs and I’m fine with cats and kids, too! At 3-years-old, I was found as a stray but I keep a very clean kennel. I’m just waiting for someone to love me!

▲KITTEN BROTHERS! Aren’t we precious? We were so happy to see the visitors outside our cage. We purr when you look at us, and we love to be held and kissed. Come on over and ask for us, Simon (A014376) and Garfunkel

◄An adorable kitten is look-ing at you! Hi, my name is Taylor (A014489) and I’m a sweet baby girl who just wants to be cuddled and kissed. I have a curious, playful and affectionate per-sonality and I bet I’d love some kitten toys in my new household. I hope you’ll hurry over to the shelter and hold me in your arms. There are a lot of kittens here and not enough room for us all. Give me a chance, you’ll fall in love!

►I’m a petite beauty with a purry, cuddly personal-ity. So why am I living in

a cage at the shelter? Hello, my name is Pita

(A014231) and I hope to be adopted very soon!

There are so many cats waiting for homes here,

and not enough room for everyone. I’m a very

friendly 7-month-old who enjoys being with every

person I meet. Touch me, hold me, play with

me. And adopt me!

◄I’m a tiny kitten boy named Jimmy Neutron (A014429) and I’m looking for someone who will take me on my next adventure: a new home! I’m sure there will be much to discover there. I was found as a stray on October 13 so I’m really ready to be part of a loving family. I enjoy being kissed and cuddled and I love to play. Please come over and meet me. You’ll love me!

►I’m a gorgeous, 2-year-old girl named

Noelle (A014465) and I’m already spayed. I was found as a stray,

but I love being with people and feeling their

touch on my soft, me-dium-length fur. I went

to the Salty Paws Festi-val recently, but some-

how my beauty was overlooked! I hope you

notice me and I hope you’ll be standing out-

side my door real soon!

It’s me, Cinnamon (A071774)! I’m a stunning German Shepherd mix girl who weighs in at

we German Shep-herds tend to have amazing work eth-ics, an eagerness

to please and we’re very intelligent. This is a perfect

description of me! Come say hello

and see if you can resist spending the rest of your life with such a darling puppy. My adoption fee includes a physical examination, heartworm test, rabies vaccination and spay surgery - wow! For driving directions or more information, please call Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective

Pender Humane Society Please call 910-259-7022 to adopt us!

◄I’m a social and friendly little girl named Nala and if you let me sit in your lap, I’ll be even happier! Every bone in my body is gentle and loving. I was found all alone, hungry and thin, but I adore every person I meet and I’m putting on weight. I’ll be a petite girl - 35 pounds would be perfect for me. I’m spayed, friendly to other dogs and a complete lovebug. Adopt me!

◄It’s a mystery how a friendly, well-behaved Chocolate Lab like me ended up at Animal Control, but that’s where my new friends found me. Now I’m here at Pender Humane Society, stealing hearts. My name is Tiana and I’m a 2-year-old, kennel-trained girl who knows how to sit and stay on command. I’m so very sweet to everyone I meet. Labs are great family dogs, so hurry!

◄I’m an adorable brown Tabby boy with a unique name: Nonamy! Someone dumped me outside but, luckily, I found my way into loving hands. I am now neutered, up to date on shots and litter-box-trained. I am ready to find my forever home! I just love to be petted and held and will be a very fine companion for you. Let’s go!

▲We two baby brothers may not look alike (I’m Maximus, a black and sleek panther, while

Mr. Darcy is a golden lion) but we have the same happy, purry, cuddly attitudes! We love to be held and kissed, and we also enjoy hopping around the room, chasing

toys. You’ll fall in love as soon as you meet us!

►PRECIOUS PUPPY ALERT! Hello there, my name is Abby and I was once bouncing along out-side, completely lost. Ani-mal Control picked me up and, when no one claimed me, Pender Humane Soci-ety took me in. They want

you to know that I’m as loveable as the day is long, and my soft, brown eyes will

just melt your heart. I get along great with other dogs and am a bit shy at first, but I warm up real quick to kind words and a tasty treat. I’m a Lab/Shepherd mix who is ready to go home and cuddle!

◄It’s me, Champ! Ready to enjoy life with your new best friend? I sure am! I’m a 1½-year-old Shepherd mix who

never meets a stranger. I am very friendly and I love to

run and play. A fenced yard would be great! I’m a big boy,

about 70 pounds, and I’m already neutered

and vaccinated. I know how to sit and stay on command and I learn very

quickly. It would make me so happy to go home with you!

URGENT, URGENT! My Time Is

Running Out! Hi there! I’m Lisa Marie

(A014299) and my smiling face says it all. I just

love people and I love being with them. I’m not

your typical Bea-gle: I don’t bark like one and I’m definitely not a hunter. I’m a

lover and my hap-piest place is not in the woods, it’s in the living room on the couch with my human buddies! I was found on I40

and I love other dogs. Cats are my pals, too! Belly rubs and butt scratches are a couple of faves. At the shelter, I tend to sleep in my dog kennel a good part of the day and I keep a clean house, which suggests I’m crate-trained or house-trained already. At 8-years-old, I deserve a loving family! Please hurry, there are lots of dogs arriving and

not enough room for everyone. My adoption fee includes Distemper/Parvo vaccine, Kennel Cough vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, deworming, 30 day flea/tick treatment and my

spay surgery. The shelter is open on Sundays, from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week. It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. For more information, please call Pender County Animal Shelter

at 910-259-1484 or email [email protected].

◄Hello, my name is Shadow and I am a pure

bred, UKC registered, beautiful Blue Tick

Hound. I am a shy and submissive girl but I’m

very, very sweet. I have lived outside my whole

life and am now learning how to live inside - which by the way I LOVE. I am good with other dogs and cats and love to run and play. I am completely

vetted and ready for you to come and get me. I

need my own family!! Please call 910-579-0407 today!

◄Hi, our names are Dot and Doo Dad and we are very loving brothers who would love to be adopted together. Our owner is in a facility now so we find

ourselves homeless. We are looking for an indoor home where we can cud-

dle with you. We don't bite or scratch or act

crazy and wild. We are just the opposite - very calm and sweet. If you are looking for a terrific twosome, here we are!

Please call R.A.C.E. at 910-579-0407 to learn more about us and how we can become part of your family.

►Hi, I'm Dolly, a very sweet, ener-getic black and

white female Shih Tzu. I was born 3-years ago and

adopted by a family who

chained me up outside and never

gave me any medical care,

much less love and attention.

Since being res-cued, I've bonded very quickly to my foster mom and will do

the same with you. I really need a stable environment. Since I had never had vet care, I am blind in one eye and my vision is compromised in the other. I can see out of my somewhat

good eye but need patience. If you will take a chance on me, I promise to be your very best friend. I really am a lover. I will

need eye drops in my eyes a few times a week.

◄Hola, me llamo Patches. I am an adorable little Chi-huahua mix. We

are not sure what I am mixed with, my face is all Chihua-

hua but my legs are longer than usual. I am a really hand-

some, 8-pound, tri-colored boy. I love

other dogs and cats. I was in the shelter where I was very shy and scared but now I am doing better. I may be shy at first but bond quickly. I love to play and will chase the tennis ball. Please call 910-579-0407 or visit us on

the web at raceshelter.org.

◄You will not be able to resist me once you meet me. My name is Hattie and I am one sweet girl. I am a 9-month-old Pit mix who weighs under 20 pounds and I love everyone and every-

thing. I am gentle, too. My foster mom’s 4-year-old son walks me on a

leash, how about that! I am completely vetted

and interviewing for my forever home. You bet-

ter hurry because I won't last long. Please call R.A.C.E. at 910-579-0407 or visit us on the web at raceshelter.org.

►I'm Macha and I am a very happy, full-of-life, female Dachs-hund mix. I am just

adorable and will grab your heart as soon as you meet me. I love to have fun, go for walks and play with

my toys. I am only 9-months-old and would do well in a home or

apartment. I am com-pletely vetted and

microchipped. All you have to do is call my name and I'll come

running. Please give R.A.C.E. a call at

910-579-0407 or visit us on the web at raceshelter.org. Please like us on Facebook at R.A.C.E. Inc.

Hi, my name is Sweetie! I was a stray cat who wandered up to

someone's house in need of serious dental treatment. I currently am being treated for Periodontal Disease,

tooth abscesses, fleas, and being underweight. Treatment is going great - they have already re-

moved an infected tooth. My name says it all. I am very sweet and laid-

back. Although I am still undergoing treatment I want to find my furever home. Could it be with you? If you are interested in adopting me, please call 910-256-2624 or visit www.carewilmington.org and fill out an application.

Hi, I am Ricky Bobby! I was an outdoor dog who wasn't

properly taken care of. I was dehydrated and had acute

kidney disease with a possible spider bite. I am great with other dogs and have lots of energy. Plus I am a total

goofball. I am still undergoing treatment, but would love to

find my furever home. Could it be with you? If you are in-

terested in adopting me, please call 910-256-2624 or

visit www.carewilmington.org and fill out an application.

Are you ready for some fun? I am a little boy named

Singer and I love EVERYONE, even

dogs. I play a lot and when I was younger I

was playing with a sewing needle and decided to eat it.

Have you guessed how I got my name? I have learned from

my mistakes and hope to find a new home and family to love me. Is it with

you? If you are inter-ested in adopting me,

please call 910-256-2624 or visit us online at www.carewilmington.org and fill out an application.

SOAR (Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue) Please call 910-457-6340 to adopt us!

◄My name is Kita - and I am one of the sweetest Akita/Corgi mixes you will ever meet! I LOVE to be brushed and I love to love and to BE

loved! I am fine with other dogs - but cats

are OUT! I have been neutered and am up to date on all my vaccinations and I weigh in at about

37 pounds. My birthday is coming up in December - I will be 4-years-old. And all I want for my birthday is my "furr-ever"

home! Can't wait to meet you!

◄My friends at SOAR say that I remind them of a big Toto! I per-

sonally think I am cuter! But if I could click

my heels together I

would wish to be home,

too! I'm Allie and my story is a little sad - you can read all about me on the SOAR website—www.soar-nc.org - but I am doing really well at SOAR! I'm a Terrier mix, approxi-

mately 5-years-old and between 45 to 50 pounds. I can sit and shake paws! I will need someone with lots of love and patience and someone willing to keep a consistent sched-ule with me. You can find out more when you come visit!

►Am I a handsome boy or what? And know what I like even more than playing with my doggie friends? Giving

kisses! My name is Ollie and I'm an Australian Cattle Dog mix who is about 7-months-

old. Right now I weigh about 20 to 22 pounds. I had an

awesome home with a lady in the military, but she unexpect-edly got transferred to a base where they didn't allow ani-mals! I was sad for awhile - but now I am having fun at SOAR and I am excited that I may soon have my very own

“furr-ever” home! I play well with other dogs and so far have not had any run-ins with cats - but that's still an “iffy” subject! I am neutered and vaccinated - all you need to do is adopt me!

►Laid-back and loving are words that describe

me! I'm 1½-year-old Dixie - and I was actu-ally born at SOAR but

had to come back when my person could no

longer take care of me. I was sad at first - but I

love being at SOAR until I find my “furr-ever”

home! They take really good care of me and

brush me and give me all kinds of attention!

But I'm too beautiful to stay at SOAR for too long. Come see me soon!

►My, what a big tongue I have! Better

to give you big, sloppy, doggie kisses with! Hi, I'm Dixie! I'm 9-years-young, weigh 50 to 55

pounds and I’m also beautiful! I have a big heart with lots of love to give. I love to play

with tennis balls - probably because I am

a Pit/Lab mix - or at least that is what my

friends at SOAR think! Anyway - I

would love to meet you, so please hurry

over to the shelter!

►Sweet Sadie is what my friends at SOAR call me - I guess because I AM so sweet! They also say I have the most beautiful

brown eyes! I'm a Beagle/Hound mix weighing

around 30 pounds. I'm about 6-years-old but I have a puppy soul!

I love to play ball and I am learning how to play with

other dogs (I was once an “only child”) - as long as they are not too “in my

face”- because that scares me. It was sad when my person passed away and I had to come to SOAR but I am doing good now. I’d be so happy if

a nice family adopted me and took me home!

Page 38: PawPrints Magazine November 2014

My name is Tiger and I am very playful and smart. I have already been fixed and vaccinated and I would love to be in a home with another cat to play with. I don’t seem to

care about dogs. I have an independent streak like a typi-cal cat, so I can take you or leave you unless you spoil me with canned food! Then, I just may see your value. I am full of personality and will provide you with hours of enter-tainment - way better than any TV show out there. Call me for some TIGER TV! If you would like to know more

about me, give Adopt-An-ANGEL a call at 910-392-0557.

I am sponsored by Perry Davis. Thank you!

URGENT, URGENT!

My Time Is Running Out!

Now how does a lap-loving, affection-ate girl like me end up running out of time! My name is Daisy (A014172) and I’m a spayed, 4-year-old girl with reddish-brown fur.

They think I may be a Redbone Hound

mix, but I’m a smaller size so there may also be some Dachshund in me.

Whatever I am, it all adds up to Very Cute! I’m such a friendly girl and I play well with other dogs. I went to the Salty Paws Festival recently and behaved beautifully, but my forever family didn’t come along that day. Could the

one reading this be my new companion? I hope so! There are many dogs arriving at the shelter and not enough room for us all. My adoption fee includes Distemper/Parvo vac-cine, Kennel Cough vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, deworming, and 30 day flea/tick treatment! The shelter is now open on Sundays, from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week. It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm.

For more information, please call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-1484 or email

[email protected]. Don’t be surprised if we cuddle the entire time you’re here - I’m a cuddler!

Hi! My name is Clemson and I am a beautiful boy who will melt your heart.

I am loving and I love to play. I will be a great addition to some lucky fam-

ily. I am really good with cats, dogs and even

kids, too. I love to be touched and

stroked and I just cannot get enough petting. I am super

friendly and pretty smart. If you would like to know more about me or would like to inquire about the

adoption process, please call 910-392-0557.

My name is Janelle. I’m a 2-year-old

female Jack Russell Terrier mix. Don’t

you think I’m pretty? I’m also a people

person, through and through! I would

make a fabulous per-sonal assistant, if I do say so myself! I love to be by my person's side and I have such a friendly and intelli-gent demeanor! I have already been spayed and vaccinated. Please

come spend some quality time with me so you can see how amazing I am! For more information or to adopt

me, call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557.

My name is Trooper and I'm a Pit/Lab mix with a lot of person-ality. I was found as an ador-able 8-week-old pup but as I

grew, my first rescuer decided I was too much dog for her. Now I'm about 5-months-old and will probably grow to be a 60 pound dog - but I'm STILL adorable. I have a handsome brindle coat, I've been neutered and am up

to date on my vaccinations. I've been working on my basic

commands - they tell me I'm pretty smart and learn quickly. I'm good on a leash, very friendly, great with other dogs. I like to sit in lawn chairs - so if you have

an extra one at your house, maybe I could use it? Call 910-271-3101 for more information about me.

My name is Lady, I'm a black and white Lab/

Border Collie mix who is 3-years-old. When I ran

out of time at Animal Control, I was sched-uled to go to a rescue group in another state. Because of some sad circumstances, I was not able to go. I've

been looking for a home ever since. I'm a very sweet girl, who loves

being around people. I have a lot of energy and love the water. I've been spayed and am up to date on my

vaccinations. If you would like to meet me and see what a great dog I am, please call 910-271-3101.

Hi, I am Baxter and I’m a super friendly 4-year-old

male Pit mix. I am used to living in a home with other

dogs and being around people. Other than need-ing to shed a few pounds, I am a healthy boy. I am

cautious meeting new people but once I know

you’re cool, I want nothing more than kisses and

love. I do well with chil-dren who are familiar with

and can be around a large dog. I walk well on a leash, I’m house-trained, I’m neutered and vaccinated

and I have a microchip. To adopt me, please call 910-383-2100 or visit fureverfriendsanimalrescue.org.

Hello everyone! My name is Sadie (A072895) and I'm a female Walker

Hound, just over a year old. I'm a sweet girl who's

catching on quickly to how

awesome it can be when there are great people in

your life! I'm su-per-friendly and very intelligent -

pretty good combo if you ask me!

Please come out and meet me - it could be the start of a fantastic life to-

gether! My adoption fee includes a physical examination, heartworm test, rabies vaccination and spay surgery.

Wow, what a deal! For more info, call Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services at 910-754-8204.

I am sponsored by Willetts Horse Farm, Bolivia NC in loving memory of Maya and Meow. No one can ever

love you like a rescued pet.

I’m a very happy Lab mix boy named Angus and I’d love to be your new family dog! I have everything it

takes to be a successful fam-ily member: I’m house-trained, crate-trained,

friendly to kids, friendly to other dogs, friendly to cats, I

like to ride in the car and I enjoy trips to the beach! I’m a great swimmer and I know

commands such as ‘sit’, ‘shake’ and ‘lay down’. I

learned all these things in my former home, but there was a divorce in the family and I had to come to the shelter. I’m

just 2-years-old and am already neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. I play nicely in a fence and love to be a lap-dog when I’m inside the house. I enjoy playtime, so a

house with older kids or no kids is probably best as I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock a tiny tot down. If you’re looking for a fabulous family friend, I’m your guy! For more info, call

the New Hanover Humane Society at 910-763-6692.

I am sponsored by Levi Donovan. Everybody wins with adoption!

Adopt-An-ANGEL Seeks Volunteers Do you have some spare time? Would you like to help Adopt-An-ANGEL find homes for homeless animals? They are looking for some energetic, responsible, commit-ted, passionate people to help out at adoption fairs. They hold adoption fairs every Saturday and Sunday at Petco on South College Road in Wilmington from 10am to 6pm. Volunteer shifts generally run from 10am to 2pm or 2pm to 6pm one day on the weekend. You can sign up weekly so come when you can. It does require some manual labor such as lifting cages, cleaning cages and walking strong dogs. There are also a few weekly shifts open for cage cleaning at various pet stores throughout the week and some transport options, too. It can be very meaningful and rewarding to help a homeless animal find its forever home. For more information, please call Art at 203-994-3765. You may only be one person, but you can be one person who makes a difference. Life is too short, do stuff that matters!

My name is Digi and I'm a Shepherd mix who is almost 3-years-old. I'm a playful,

loving and de-voted dog who is a great com-panion. I am house-trained and I love peo-ple. I like riding

in the car or boat and going swimming. I'm well-behaved in public and en-joy going shopping at Home Depot. At night, I will sleep on my own bed in the bedroom with you. I'm fully vetted,

neutered and vaccinated. I'm hoping to find a home where I can be an only child. I haven't been around chil-dren or cats and would be happiest not sharing my home with other dogs. My current home has several small dogs and it's just too much for me to handle. However, I do like

going to play at Dog Club of Wilmington 2 to 3 times a week. If you would like to know more about me, please

call 910-620-0380 or email [email protected].

Double the Trouble! Double the LOVE!! Hi - I'm Casper! And I'm Blizzard! We are the only two kittens left from our litter of six! We can't figure out why! We

are sweet and BEAUTIFUL!! And funny! We are about 5-months-old and have been at SOAR since we were born! We are spayed and neutered and up to date on our shots. We are fine with other cats and though it

would be nice to be adopted together - we would be ok to be adopted separately. Come say Hi! We know you will

want to take us home! For driving directions or more information about adopting one of us, please call SOAR

at 910-457-6340.

We are sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to

the Rainbow Bridge.

BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE TEAM CAROLINA

My name is Jax and I’m a snug-gly sweet little Boston/Boxer mix

(45 pounds). I'm a loving and obedient boy who is eager to

please. I know commands like 'leave it', 'no' and 'sit', 'go to your bed' and I’m working on 'wait'. I will go into my crate without an

argument. I love other dogs and kids. I just had some obedience training and the trainer said she will follow up with another ses-

sion for free via Skype to help me get settled in my new home! I am an All-Star guy so get your application in today! For more information, please

email [email protected] or call 828-778-2045.

Do you have a special place in your heart and home for an ac-tive senior? Then you need to meet me, Snoopy! I’m esti-

mated to be 12-years-old and I’m a chocolate, miniature Poo-dle. I weigh 12 pounds and was

surrendered to the Greenville shelter (along with two other

Poodles) because of my owner's health. I’m very sweet and love

attention. I love to follow you around and be with you and I’m great with other dogs and cats. I had cataracts but thanks to some very special do-nors, I had cataract surgery and my vision has been re-

stored! I’m really loving life and thoroughly enjoying every-thing I see. Each day presents a new journey for me. If you would like to take this journey with me, call 864-489-3559 or

go to our website www.carolinapoodlerescue.org.

Hi, my name is Riley and I’m an almost 2-year-old, very

energetic, Boston Terrier mix who is looking for an active family to call my own. I get along great with male dogs and would probably excel in agility-training! I love to run and play and hang out on the couch! I’m very sweet and snuggly and my foster mom says I will melt your

heart. I will need to go on daily walks or runs and will be your best friend for life! If you are interested in adopting me, please email Boston Terrier Rescue Team of the Carolinas

at [email protected] or call 828-778-2045.

SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS

Hello there! My name is Willie and I’m an adult mini-Schnauzer who is

salt and pepper in color. I am neutered, house-

trained, purebred, up to date with shots, good

with kids, and good with other dogs. I’m a very

friendly little boy with the best possible personal-ity. If you would like to read more about me or other pets up for adop-tion, visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org. Please call 919-723-7145 if you need an application

mailed or faxed to you.

CAROLINA POODLE RESCUE

My name is Melody! What a journey I’ve had! Long story short - I was

pregnant and abandoned! I had 3 puppies and all of

them have found their forever homes. Now it is my turn! I am a 7-year-

old, 8 pound Toy Poodle. I have a super-sweet disposition and love to snuggle during an evening of reading or watching TV. I am content to share the sofa with my foster brothers and will do best in a home

with an older, more confident buddy to learn from. I also love to play and will share my toys to extend the play time. I love

to go for walks, do well with stairs and am learning some basic commands. By the way, I just had a dental and my

breath is now fabulous! If you have room in your heart and home for me, please go to www.carolinapoodlerescue.org

and apply or you can call 864-489-3559.

I fell in love with the Min Pin next door and our clandestine love

affair produced five beautiful pup-pies who look like little chocolate bunnies (4 boys and 1 girl), all of whom should be ready for adop-tion around Christmastime. My

name is Winnie and I’m a cotton-white mini-Schnauzer who

weighs just 13 pounds at this time. A good hearty puppy chow will add some weight on me, but those chunky little puppies keep me drained as quickly as I eat. I am far too interested in assuring that my babies are well cared for to worry about much of anything else.

When my babies are weaned, I will be ready for adoption! I’m a very sweet girl who deserves a loving family. If you would like to read

more about me, visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org. Call 919-723-7145 if you need an application mailed or faxed to you.

Hello, my name is Sadye! I’m a 2-year-old, Pomeranian/

Chihuahua mix who is no bigger than a minute.

I am also a young Mom with

newborn pup-pies. I love be-ing out in the sunshine and running in the yard. I love

people once I get to know them, and I am very good with other animals. I enjoy being with dogs my size, but I was attacked by larger dogs in my former home so my new family should not have large dogs, as I have not forgotten that trauma. Once my little family is weaned at the appropriate age, I will be re-

tired from motherhood permanently and be ready for adop-tion around the first of the year. My puppies are absolutely adorable and will also be up for adoption at about that time. To read more about me and the adoption process, please visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org. Adoption

applications are available online. You can also call 919-723-7145 if you need an application mailed or faxed.

SMALL DOG ALERT! Hey there, my name is Pluto and I’m a

certified Heart-Melter. I’m a small Schnauzer

boy - perfect for snuggling in your lap.

I’m SO precious! I was born in February 2013 so I’m really just

a puppy. I came to the shelter with my

brother, Otto, but he was adopted. Now

I’m looking for a new companion. How

about you? I’m a very loveable and friendly

fellow and I enjoy being with people and other dogs. My doggie roommate, Dixie, is a lot bigger than me, so I’m friendly to dogs of all

sizes! I’m also great at sitting on command. Come on over and meet me! For driving directions or more information,

please call Pender Humane Society at 910-259-7022. You’d better hurry, I’m a real gem!

I am sponsored by Fred and Carole Woods.

Thank you!
