Email is the best way to get in contact with me since I am typically in my classroom during the day, although if you're in the building, you're welcome to stop by. If you do choose to use email, please allow 24 hours for a response. You are also welcome to c all me if needed, but please be aware that I do not answer my phone during meal times, and I turn my phone off at 10 p.m. most evenings. Tech Tools for Teachers Course Description This course is designed to teach participants the basics of using and implementing selected online tools in their lessons in order to promote student engagement within the classroom, while also meeting the c urrently mandated standards. Through the creation of several project pieces during the course, participants are provided time to ask questions, gain feedback, and practice using tools prior to assigning the use o f those tools to students. In addition, participants are give n the opportunity to discuss potential uses in their classrooms and lesson plan ideas to facilitate the use of those tools. Although participants do not receive actual credit, completing the course provides an in-depth experience working with engaging online tools that can be used within the classroom. Course Location This is an online course supported by the Moodle learning management system. If you would like to preview the tools we are using in the course, you may visit the links below. Please be aware that some

these tools are free, while others require a very low subscription fee. If you do not want to incur charges for a paid

subscription, you can obtain a trial pass; however, if you do this too soon, you may not be able to access the tool during the

specified course module.

Technical Requirements 

If you choose to use a computer other than the one provided by the school, please be sure that there are internal speakers

available or that you have speakers that you can attach. In addition, you should ensure that any computer you use has

antivirus software installed. For the purposes of the course, you may use Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or Internet Explorer as yo

web browser. Please know that this course will be much more efficient if accessed via high speed internet connection.

Module 3: Not Your Average Tweet- Writing with Storybird

  Create a book to share with peers

  Discuss possible lessons using Storybird in your classroom

Module 4: Brainstorming and Connecting with Bubbl.us 

  Bubbl.us tutorial

  Create a mind map or flow chart to share with peers

  Discuss possible lessons using bubbl.us in your classroom

Module 5: Using Prezi to Show Your Learning 

  Prezi tutorial

  Create a Prezi documenting the lessons created using the specified online tools

  Discuss additional opportunities for using Prezi in your classroom

Assignments: More detailed information, along with rubrics used for grading, will be posted in each module. There will also

be information regarding how assignments should be submitted, as well as the deadline for each assignment.

Grades: Assignments will be graded no more than five days following submission. Detailed feedback will be provided in the

Moodle gradebook. If you have questions about your grade or feedback, or if you do not see a grade after the five day

timeframe, please contact me.
