The Cameron-Gatling House is one of the oldest homes in Historic Oakwood. The house was renovated in the early 20th century, and many elements survive from the period, including four mantels, wood trim and paneled doors, several light fi xtures and built-in cabinets. The house has

three bedrooms, two full baths, and a partially fi nished basement. This house is for sale through the Preservation NC Endangered Properties Program.

Ten years ago the city of Raleigh bought most of the properties in this area to aid revitalization efforts. The existing houses were replaced with new homes, adding value to the neighborhood. This house features an open fl oor plan and is perfect for a small family.

The Paramount won a national architecture award for masonry design. A pool, fi tness center, social room, and kitchen are located on the fi fth fl oor. The featured unit has a notably large terrace, ideal for outdoor living.

Built in the 1930s, this former Hudson Belk department store is now a mixed-use building with contemporary condominiums. Unit 304 is the largest in the building, with 13-foot ceilings, solid surface counter tops, exposed brick, and beautiful concrete fl oors.

The building was constructed in the late 1880s and was used as the loading portal for the rail lines on the building’s east side. The Cotton Mill was renovated in 1996 and now houses 50 condominiums ranging from 800 to 2,500 square feet. It is a historic landmark featuring exposed beams,

hardwood fl oors, 10-foot windows, and in some units, 19-foot ceilings.

Built in 2005 on the site of Pilot Mill Hill, this infi ll development is adjacent to Pilot Mills. This home features a traditional exterior, open fl oor plan with modern conveniences, and brick-enclosed courtyard. The Village offers maintenance-free lawns and common areas.

This beautiful home, built in 1875, was the fi rst house on Oakwood Avenue in what was formerly the pecan grove of Mordecai Plantation. At the turn of the century, the house was converted into apartments, but in the 1970s was returned to a single-family home. Recent renovations

include the addition of a side yard and courtyard garden. This house was constructed by the same builder of the Second Empire Restaurant on Hillsborough Street.

J.T. Moore, a merchant and cotton broker, built this Queen Anne style cottage in 1886. It has a cutaway bay window and a wraparound porch with turned columns. There are four coal-burning fi replaces inside, along with many antique furnishings.

In 2005, the builder customized the home for the current residents to include additional square footage and south facing windows. Bamboo fl ooring was also installed. A 400-square foot addition was completed in 2008. This beautiful home features a wonderful master bedroom and

front porch view of downtown Raleigh.

Adjacent to City Market, these beautiful townhome-style condominiums feature Syrian arches, skylights, and 12-foot ceilings. Some overlook the interior courtyards and fountains.

This two-story Queen Anne style house of 1,444 square feet has been extensively rehabilitated and renovated. It features a spacious living and dining room area and a second fl oor private master bedroom suite with a walk-in closet and views of the downtown skyline.

This beautiful home, which was built in 1995, has been extensively renovated and transformed. The property features stylish and eco-friendly bamboo fl ooring upstairs and downstairs, and the upstairs bathrooms have custom slate fl ooring. Custom cement countertops have also been

installed in the kitchen and bathrooms.

A single family home built in 1996, this house has bamboo fl oors throughout. The kitchen and living room have been recently remodeled.

Palladium Plaza residents enjoy living in close proximity to the popular City Market which thrives with activity and energy. A variety of fl ats, lofts, and studio walk-outs are available in this building. Units feature exposed ducts and pipes, concrete fl oors and columns, and a concrete wall.

This 33-story, mixed-use tower features fi rst-fl oor retail, nine fl oors of in-building parking, 11 fl oors of offi ce space and 11 fl oors of residential condominiums. As Raleigh’s tallest building and newest landmark, RBC Plaza transformed the

skyline and redefi nes the city. Residents enjoy a separate entrance from the offi ce dwellers and security screening from the privacy of their own television. Featured on the 23rd fl oor is an outdoor swimming pool and fi re-pit area, club room, kitchen, business center, home theater, and fi tness room. One, two, and three bedroom units are available.

The old adage “don’t judge a book by its cover” was never more correct than in the case of this house. Built between 1915 and 1919, its simple lines are characteristic of the Colonial Revival style bungalow. Two unique features include a prime location that provides stunning views of the

city skyline and a distinguishing addition.

Bloomsbury Estates was built on the former site of Joel Lane’s house and the location of Wake County’s fi rst courthouse. With the highest vantage point in downtown Raleigh, the views are spectacular. The graceful Second Empire architecture epitomizes grandeur both inside and out. The

romantic mansard roofs, inviting porches and European courtyards make living at Bloomsbury Estates especially welcoming. Bloomsbury Estates also offers distinctive customized homes all rich in elegance and luxury.

Since being built in 1917, this house has had several additions. A kitchen and screened porch were added to the lower level, along with a master bedroom upstairs. Eventually, the screened porch was enclosed to create a larger indoor living space downstairs.
