    What is Digital Etiquette?

    often times referred to as netiquette

    includes information that refers when it is appropriate to use different forms ofcommunication

    deemed as a set of vital rules to follow while interacting appropriately in thedigital world, such as texting, Emailing, social networking sites, and etc.

    Why is this important?

    Primary Importance: Educators should definitely be a positive role model to every student bysetting an example in/out of the classroom. Once teachers gain knowledge in this particulararea, they are able to instruct their students on the significance of digital etiquette and how itsolely affects others.

    At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to answer the following:1. Am I aware of how my usage of technology affects others?2. How can I help others become more conscious of the effects of their technology use?

    Objective(s): Teachers will be completely conscious of the set rules of etiquette that mainly is apparent

    with technology usage; therefore being able to instruct the material learned to students.

    Participants will recognize, clarify and educate the regulations of etiquette that exist withtechnology use.

    While attending the Senior Class Picnic, Jenniferdecided to take several images and videos. In

    particular, she was able to capture footage of herbestfriend Sara purposely getting pushed into

    the pool . Jennifer was even able to get Sarafrantically rushing out of the water highlyupset;embrassed. When Sara arrived home later

    that night she could hardly wait to upload thevideo to her Facebook account, which includeda horrible caption. After the upload, she noticed

    rude comments about Sara from the people shetagged, but did nothing. Sara later became awareof the video and the friendship with Jenniferended.

    John was totally excited about his datewith Emily. He just built up the courage toask her out on a date, after receivingpermission from her father. John decided

    to take her to see the latest movie, Man ofSteelwhich they were both eager aboutviewing. They arrived at the theatre andimmediately went to retrieve seating.When the movie trailors began, Emilyquietly switched her cellular phone tosilent mode. Half an hour into the show,Johns loud ring tone carried across the

    entire theatre. John scrambled to find hisphone, which was hidden inside one hisjacket pockets. He finally located hisphone and proceeded to answer his callwhile the movie was playing, with a loudwhisper. Spectators became annoyed; evenEmily and he ended his call.
