The simple way of working out the flow rate from measuring the signal or to understand what signal should be returned for a stated flow rate can be achieved by using a manufacturers flow chart.

Using this below example;Required Flow = 0.39 l/s (vertical line)Required pressure drop = 18kPa (Horizontal line)Setting = 4.9 (intersection of both lines)

operation and settingTo set the valve to the desired flow rate the anti tamper handle screw is removed to allow a 3mm hex key to be inserted and rotated to adjust the valve to the correct setting before re-inserting and tightening the anti tamper screw.

Verification of flow can be done using a suitable flow measurement device and utilising the built-in test points on the valve.

The Pegler Proflow BC3 flow measuring device is supplied pre –programmed with the loss coefficient data (k values) allowing a direct measurement of flow rate to be obtained ensuring the system is balanced correctly to achieve optimum efficiency.
