God the Father has bestowed upon His unique and only

begotten Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, the Fullness of the Godhead in

Bodily Form. This means that Jesus Christ is the Recognized Ruler

and Redeemer. Belief in Him and His finished work gives us the privi-

lege to be saved through His death, burial and resurrection.

In addition, His subsequent work in the believer assures us Sanctifica-

tion and Satisfaction. The Shekinah of the Old Testament was a power

of God’s presence, as mankind saw this presence as an unusual “glow”.

John 1:14 says, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,

(and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Fa-

ther,) full of grace and truth.”

We Glorify God in how we Live, how we Forgive, and how we Give.

SERMON SUMMARY

GOD’S PAINKILLERS ARE HIS PROMISES Jeremiah 29:9-10 ~ September 3, 2017

The Bible does not teach us to pray so God can send remedies

each time we experience pain. The remedy is already there.

Painkillers are His promises. The promises are there before the

problem. We must wait for God’s remedy as we go through pain.

His promises are medicinal; a medicine that heals our sin sick

souls. In the midst of our struggles, God sends His strength. We

are surrounded and supported by God’s strong promises in our

problems and in our pain. When our faith fails, God supplies us

with fortitude and favor.

When we feel plummeted and perplexed, God loves us with a

peace, a pardon, and prosperity to heal our hurts. Jeremiah was

prophesizing to Judah who was corrupt. He prophesized that

captivity was coming and Judah continually rebelled. When we

cannot hear God, He makes us listen. The name Jeremiah

means exalted of the Lord. Jeremiah remained unmarried be-

cause it would hinder his teaching to Judah.

Jeremiah went through a lot of personal pain because of his call-

ing. Jeremiah prophesized to those that continued to repent; In

the midst of our pain; there is purpose. In the midst of our pain,

there is pardon, prosperity, a preemption of evil and a profitable

blessing so that we are persuaded that God is praise worthy.

1. God Gives a Promise of His Presence (vs. 10)

Why 70 years? God is righteous. Israel sinned every seven years

for 490 years. God let their sins accumulate so they would only

have to serve seven years. God is everywhere at the same time.

He will visit us with favor. His presence means He will protect

us. People can sometimes give us a bad word. We cannot under-

stand the Good Word until we go back to creation (Genesis 2).

His Word cannot come back void. We need to practice the pres-

ence of God. The more we practice His presence, the less we

fear.

SERMON SUMMARY 2. God Gives a Promise of His Peace (vs.11)

We move from the presence to the peace; not of evil because He

is giving us an expected end (vs.11). Only God can take us where

He wants us to go. The Lord is able to bring peace. He will re-

gather and restructure us. He will restore the years the locust

has eaten. Locusts have eaten up our crops, our minds, our emo-

tions, and our will. God says once we repent He will restore the

years. God does not ask us to quote promises. The promise will

make us praise Him. Each time we feel fearful God will give us

Perfect Peace because we trust in Him.

3. God Gives a Promise of His Passion (Ch. 30)

God is speaking; He will make things happen. He speaks of a

New Covenant. The Bible is for our information, not our partici-

pation. When God spoke to Noah, Jeremiah, and Daniel, He was

not speaking to us. We have to pull out what belongs to us. All

the personal pronouns speak of a New Covenant. We also see a

new component (Ch. 31:33). When we get saved and the Holy

Ghost comes to live on the inside, He starts writing the laws on

our heart. When we meet Jesus, we cannot go back into the gar-

bage dump. He will mess up our circumstances. That’s what

makes Him God. Next, we see a new compassion and a new ca-

pacity. God gives us a promise of His power. The promise to per-

form His perfections and to promote His people, the promise to

pull us out of trouble, and the promise to please Himself. Thank

Jesus for a painkiller with blessed side effects!
