(I) Stationary Drills Command Meaning Timing

Sedia Sequence Timing: Check

1. Shift both hands to the side of the body. Straighten and lock arms. Clench fists, with thumbs facing forward.

2. Lift LEFT leg up, forming a 90-degree angle, thigh parallel to the ground. (Fig 1) 3. Right leg locked, straightened and anchored to the ground.

Timing: (Bang) 1. Drive left foot to strike the ground. 2. Heels should be clicked, forming a V-shape of about 30 degrees. (Fig 2)

Take Note Thumb aligned to seam line of skirt Straighten arms, lock elbows, clench fists Lift left leg up to 90 degrees when executing the drill Look straight, not the floor (No roving eyes)

Common Mistakes

Shoulders are slouched

Senang diri Sequence Timing: Check

1. Shift both hands to the back of the body (Right hand over left hand). Fingers should be straightened, in closed manner. (Fig 3)

2. Lift LEFT leg up, forming a 90-degree angle, thigh parallel to the ground. 3. Right leg locked, straightened and anchored to the ground.

Timing: (Bang) 1. Drive left foot to strike the ground. 2. Feet should be shoulder-width apart.

Take Note No gap between arm & body Feet are shoulder width apart Lift left leg up to 90 degrees when executing the drill Straighten arms and fingers, right hand over left hand Look straight, not the floor (No roving eyes)

Common Mistakes

Bending of wrists when moving

Arms not close to the body when going behind the back

Clenched fist is placed too low or too high on the left side of the chest.

1. Raise the right arm up with fingers straightened and bring the middle finger to touch the tip of the right eyebrow via the shortest route. 2. The upper right arm should be perpendicular to the body. The forearm, palm and fingers should be flushed straight. 3. Tilt the hand slightly so that the bottom of the palm and the thumb is not visible from the front.

Common Mistakes

Upper arm not horizontal and parallel to the ground.

Outer edge of the hand is not turned slightly downwards.

Ke-kanan lurus Sequence Timing: Up

1. Everybody turns her head 45 degrees to the right except the rightmost column (People behind the right marker).

2. All arms should be straightened and locked. Front rank: (Fig 4)

1. Extend right arm (90 degrees), such that the arm is parallel to the ground and perpendicular to your body. Do not follow the right person’s shoulder.

2. Fist should be clenched such that thumb is facing the front. 3. Fist should touch the person on the right. (When raised and fist is too near or far

from the person on the right, shift accordingly when timing 1, 2, 3 is given. If it’s so near that your arm overlaps the person on the right, extend your arm to her back first.)

Rightmost column: (Fig 5) 1. Raise arm forward to the back of the person in front (90 degrees), such that the

arm is parallel to the ground and perpendicular to your body. Do not follow the front person’s shoulder.

2. Fist should be clenched such that thumb is facing upwards (To the sky). 3. Fist should be 6 inches from front person. (When raised and fist is too near or

far from person in front, shift accordingly when timing 1, 2, 3 is given. If it’s so near that your arm overlaps the person in front, extend your arm to her right first.)

* No Movement for Right Marker Timing: Check

1. Everyone lift up left leg to 90 degrees, thigh parallel to ground. Timing: (Bang)

1. Force left/right foot to the ground. 2. Heels should be clicked, forming a V-shape of about 30 degrees.

Timing: 1, 2, 3 1. Front rank and rightmost column to keep their arms raised. 2. All to have their heads still turned 45 degrees to the right (Except rightmost

column). 3. Correct dressing by shuffling your feet. (Do not drag feet) 4. Take dressing from right marker. 5. Check your position by glancing out of the corner of your left eye. 6. Stop immediately when the timer finishes counting. 7. Timer needs to gauge how long of a time the squad needs to correct dressing.

1. Front rank takes 1 step backward with left leg, right leg lifted up to 90 degrees and force right foot to the ground.

2. Last rank takes 1 step forward with left leg, right leg lifted up to 90 degrees and force right foot to the ground.

3. Middle rank bang with right leg. Right leg lifted up to 90 degrees and force right foot to the ground.

4. Keep arms straightened and locked by the side Timing: Check Up Check (Bang) 1, 2, 3 Execute normal right dress (Ke-kanan lurus) Different from “Dalam buka barisan ke-kanan lurus”, rightmost column must raise their arms this time.

1. Turn head swiftly to the front 2. Cut down right arm sharply (Do not slam arm into side of skirt) 3. Look straight

Bersurai Sequence Timing: Turn Check (Bang)

1. Ke-kanan pusing Timing: Check Up

1. Turn head to the left. 2. At the same time, Salute: (Fig 8)

a. Hold your right upper arm horizontal and your forearm inclined at 45º. b. Palm straightened with index finger near your eyebrow/spectacles. c. Your palm should turn slightly towards the face.

Timing: Check Down 1. Cut down both hand and head swiftly back to original position.

Timing: Check Left Right Left 1. March (3 steps) according to timing and then move off immediately.

Take note Refer to “Ke-kanan pusing” & quick march During Check Down, do not smack the side of your skirt. Swift movement.

Saluting: Smart and snappy salute Keep thumb and fingers straight & firmly together Only salute when wearing headdress. If not wearing headdress, only turn head,

without saluting at the timing “up”.

Timing: Right (Alternating arms and legs)

Take note Marching always starts with left leg and right arm out to the front first. Always remember to swing arm 90 degrees to the front, 45 degrees to the back. Chop your feet. Do not drag your feet/shuffle. (Dig your heels) Glance from the corner of your eye to check if you are in line. Do not turn your

head or look down. Arms & legs should be alternating. (Right Leg, Left Arm. Left leg, Right Arm) Keep back straight at all times. Do not slouch. Lock arms and clench fingers at all times. Your leg follows timing, which means that when timer says LEFT, your left leg &

right arm should shoot out to the front, vice versa. * Shuffle when you are on the wrong leg. * Do mark time when there is an obstacle and no other command is given.

Common Mistakes

Arms are not locked

Not swinging the arm in a straight line from front to back

Berhenti (When doing quick march) Sequence Timing: Check

1. Bring in right leg (with front of foot) → 1 step 2. Raise left arm 90 degrees to the front and right arm 45 degrees to the back.

Timing: 1 1. Cut down left and right arm sharply to the sides of your body. 2. Bring left foot forward → 1 foot 3. Lift up right leg 90 degrees. 4. At the same time, when right leg is lifted to 90 degrees, both hands to be by the

side in a scissors-cut action. Timing: (Bang)

1. Force right foot to the ground such that it is beside the left foot. Click heels, forming a V shape opening at 30-degree angle.

Take note Remember: One step, One foot, Bang

Common Mistakes

Incorrect balance on completion of halt

2. Dressings between each person should be uniform throughout (Stand at attention, knuckles just touching)

3. Middle person should be in front of commander.

Take note Do not fidget, talk etc.

Situation 1: A new column has just been opened 1. Stand at side A1 or B1 (approximately 5 steps away from squad), in “Sedia” position, and ask for permission to fall in to the squad. 2. March in between the 1st and 2nd rank from the front and halt in between “A” and “C”. 3. Take 1 step into “A” using Pacing Drill. 4. Turn to face the front using Turning Drill. 5. If squad is in “Senang diri” position, execute the drill “Senang diri”. Situation 2: Only “A” is occupied, with “B” and “C” vacant 1. the squad walk off immediately. Situation 2: You are positioned at “B” 1. If you are in “Senang diri” position, execute the drill “Sedia”. 2. Take 1 step to the front using Pacing Drill. 3. Turn to face side A2 or B2 using Turning Drill. 4. March in between the 2nd and 3rd rank from the front and out of the squad. Once approximately 5 steps away from the squad walk off immediately. Situation 3: You are positioned at “C” 1. If you are in “Senang diri” position, execute the drill “Sedia”. 2. Take 1 step to the front or back using Pacing Drill. 3. Turn to face side A1/B1 OR A2/B2 using Turning Drill. 4. March in between the 1st and 2nd rank from the front OR march in between the 2nd and 3rd rank from the front and out of the squad. Once approximately 5 steps away from the squad walk off immediately.
