Introduction:

Leonard Cheshire Disability & Development Programme (LCDDP)-Pakistan conducted three Days

“Perfume Making Training” for its 19 valued beneficiaries including Visually & Physically challenged at

its Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC)-Islamabad from January 07-09, 2013. Batch -2 of this training was

organized in continuation of the perfume making training Batch -1 conducted last year in October, 2012.

Resource person of this training was also a visually challenged young potential guy, took perfume making

training from LRC-Islamabad in batch -1. He got inspired and started his own business of fragrances with

the support of LRC-Team and now offered his services as a cologne trainer. LCDDP organized this

training workshop to provide self-employment opportunities to PWDs.

Training Objectives:

The training workshop was conducted to give orientation to PWDs regarding

Introduction to Cologne Industry Orientation of Local & International Market Chemical Orientation Components Introduction

To aware PWDs about the Mixing and Blending in Perfume Making

Preparing Base , Synthetic Chemical & Essential Oil Base , Middle & Top Node Blending Packages 1,2,3

To enhance the innovation and creativity among PWDs

To refer interested potential PWDs to micro financing institutions in order to take self-

employment initiative in perfume market

To link interested PWDs to distribution network working in the Rural /Urban areas of

Rawalpindi/Islamabad.

Total 19 PWDs attended three days “Perfume Making Vocational” training at LRC-Islamabad. 10 PWDs

have been participated from Scottish Project while 09 participants belong to Accenture Project.

Participants Feedback:

Training participants were satisfied with the training methodology adopted by trainer. They appreciated

the trainer knowledge, skill and confidence who was visually challenged young energetic guy, took

perfume making training from the platform of LRC-Islamabad few months back. Participants gave

positive feedback regarding training contents to different TV channels. They maintained good training

decorum and did experiment with different kind of fragrances and chemicals to produce a new fragrance.

At the end of the training, participants exhibit their strong interest in the micro financing of Perfume

business in the rural areas of Rawalpindi/Islamabad. Detail market orientation was given to all

participants by trainer & LCDDP team, which was highly appreciated. Some of the participants were

interested in making more fragrances and requested for Advance Level of Perfume making training with

minimum six days duration.

Way Forward:

Interested PWDs, wanted to start their own aroma work, can get interest free loan (up to Rs.50,

000) from Akhuwat Organization. Akhuwat representative encouraged PWDs to step forward and

these PWDs can link up to wide network of fragrance distributors.

Four privilege media channels of Pakistan (ATV, GEO, CNBC and ROHI) gave extensive

coverage to Perfume Making Training at LRC-Islamabad that resulted in spreading LCDDP

message at massive level.

Media Representatives also shoot small documentary of the event while taking interviews from

training participants and LCDDP Representative.

Keeping in view the interest of PWDs in the said training course, LCDDP is keen to launch this

training course in Lahore City with the kind collaboration of LABARD.

Certificate Distribution Ceremony:

Certificate distribution ceremony was organized at the end of the training. Mr. Fazal ur Rehman, Member

Steering Committee-Akhuwat, Saeed Ahmed Bhatti-Vice President-ICCI and Touseef Zaman-Senior

Vice President-ICCI were the special guest of the certificate distribution ceremony. They distributed

certificates to the pass out training graduates and Akhuwat Representative offered interest free micro

finance facility (up to Rs.50, 000) for interested PWDs wanting to start their own work

Following reputed Local, National and International TV Channels gave coverage to the trainingevent, took interviews from Trainees and LCDDP Representatives and shoot small documentary.
