The Bumper Stickers
Probably not the best way to deal with personality types
• National Culture • Example: A “Lion” won’t be viewed as favorably in a collectivistic culture (e.g. Latin America,
Asia, Africa, much of Europe) vs. an individualistic culture (e.g. U.S., U.K., Australia)
• Corporate Culture • Example: Deciding you should act more like an “Otter” because that personality type
often gets promoted (or your boss is one)
• Assuming different roles at work vs. home • Example: You are a “Lion” at work, but need to be a “Golden Retriever” at home
• Having to pay the bills • Example: An “Otter” taking a job more suited for a “Beaver” because it is an economic
necessity at this time in her life
A person may modify his/her “default” personality due to:
• Understand and recognize that:
• There is no “correct” personality type
• Every positive personality trait likely has a “down side”
• Different “hearts and minds” around the table (including different personalities) can:
• Drive amazing success, but also
• Cause conflict / inefficiency within the team
• You will often need to adjust your behavior to create a PEACEABLE KINGDOM at home or work.
• There is great value in knowing the personality types of all the people in your workplace (and home!)
