The Beginning ,
January 5, 2005 As soon as they came home from the doctor’s office, I could tell it was not good news. I heard the Missus on the phone saying Mr. Don had just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She told me she was going to need my help in caring for Mr. Don.
Soon after that I noticed Mr. Don was no longer able to play with me and frequently struggled for words. I often let the Missus know when Mr. Don wasn’t where he ought to be. Mr. Don was not the same person he used to be, but he still had feelings and was still capable of giving and receiving a lot of love.
I think the hardest times for the Missus was when Mr. Don was depressed and just sat and cried. I don’t know for sure, but I think he knew what was happening and knew there was nothing anyone could do. They sometimes sat and held each other as they cried together for the life they were losing. I stayed pretty close to him, because just petting me made him happy.
Mr. Don started staring more often than not. There were a few times when he seemed to recognize the Missus and
smiled lovingly. She never complained or was short or impatient with him. As the Missus always said, “We have a loving God looking over us that is bigger than any ol’ Alzheimer’s.”
The Rest of the Story, February 7, 2007 One day it became obvious the Alzheimer’s was progressing. With many tears and a
broken heart the Missus placed him in a Memory Care facility. We thanked God for the place He provided and for the wonderful people.
The Missus took me to see Mr. Don often. I don’t think Mr. Don remembered my name anymore, but he was always so excited to see me. I loved seeing him. The Missus still cried a lot, and I did a lot of tear-licking. However, I knew God was in control.
The End of the Story, January 24, 2008Mr. Don is gone now. The Missus tells methatheisnothurtinganymore.Nowthat Mr. Don is walking the streets of gold and swimming in the crystal sea (lucky guy), my job is to take care of the Missus. The Missus and I look forward to heaven
where we will see our beloved Mr. Don whole again.

“Vic’s fantastic Handymen built a beautiful custom iron gate & installed a stockade fence at our new home in Lincoln Terrace. They made sure our three Big Baby Dogs were safe & secure during the fence fabrication, then installed it perfectly! Now our home looks beautiful, complete & secure, while our dogs have a stylishly protected yard all thanks to Vic & his amazing craftsmen. It has been our pleasure to work with them, & we highly recommend their handy-work!” —Maggie Howell, Owner of Aunt Pittypat’s Catering

“My husband Drew and I have used Handymen ‘R’ Us for more than fifteen years. Their work is professional and long-lasting. They provide an estimate before the work is started, and it doesn’t change. Payment is not expected until the task is completed satisfactorily. I’ve never hesitated to let the workmen in my house, even when I was gone.” —Linda Edmondson

It was only a few years ago that Brent & Trisha Clark had never considered reading an ingredient list on a bag of dog food. Even if they had, they would not have known if it was good or bad. When their young Pug, Bonnie, began licking her paws and chewing her feet, they decided to go one simple step beyond the common practice of frequent shots at the vet. They did their homework and found there was a ton of information available; it just never occurred to them to look for it. What they ultimately discovered was that Bonnie had a severe allergy to grain. Grains like corn & wheat are in just about every brand of dog food at grocery stores and big box stores. With a little research they located a good food and in a couple of weeks all of Bonnie’s symptoms disappeared.
Brent and Trisha's experience inspired them to open A1 Pet Emporium at May & Britton Road in NW OKC and will be celebrating their third year in business in February 2013 at their new larger location!
Brent & Trisha work closely with local Pet Rescues, and they have spent countless hours learning about pet nutrition. Their primary mission is to help consumers learn about good food choices for dogs and cats. None of their food brands contain any corn, wheat, by-products, or artificial colors.
Some consumers have come to consider A1 Pet Emporium to be “Oklahoma’s Authority on Healthy Nutrition for Dogs and Cats”. They have an extensive selection of brands and types of foods that cannot be found at your local grocer. A1 is a specialty store, but that does not mean that they are expensive. They have high quality foods, treats and other items at very reasonable prices. They also offer a “Rewards Program” and free food samples.
If your furry friend is suffering from food related allergies, or even if it's just finicky, visit A1 Pet Emporium today!
