Spring 2015 Phi Delta Theta - Georgia Alpha Chapter
Securing a Bright Future: Since the chapter’s re-‐founding in the fall of 2012 we have re-‐established ourselves within UGA and the Greek Life community and have been recognized by our persistent efforts. We are currently a 105 man chapter, 33 of whom were initiated on 10/14/14 with 8 new initiates as of this semester!
Ø We hosted the 2015 Phi Delta Theta General Convention here at Georgia Alpha. Ø This spring we have had socials with ΑΧΩ, ΑΟΠ, Theta, ΧΩ, ΓΦΒ, and Tri Delta with more to
come. We have had successful date nights, enjoyed a spectacular spring Formal in Nashville, and have a Hawks date night and Spring Party – featuring the Dirty Guv’nahs – still to come.
Ø Several brothers attended the 2015 Founders Day event in at the Capital City Club in Atlanta on March 25. This Golden Legion induction ceremony was one of the most significant in recent years.
Ø This semester Philanthropy at GA Alpha has taken off, successfully raising by far the most money towards ALS since our refounding in 2012.
o Philanthropy Chairman Grant Gosden set up the Athens Iron Phi-‐ve K, which raised thousands of dollars for the ALS Foundation, as well as a secondary philanthropy event called “Pelt-‐a-‐Phi” scheduled for April 14th.
Ø We are involved and successful in intramural sports, including flag football, softball and soccer.
Success, Involvement, and 100 Members!
Yours in the Bond, Sam Hepburn 2312
Alumni Relations Ga Alpha Phi Delta Theta
This February we had our Spring Formal at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. This is the premier resort in the city, and this weekend is regarded among brothers to be one of the best since refounding!
This Year at GA Alpha and Beyond
Our most successful Philanthropy event since 2012, the Iron Phive K! All proceeds went to the ALS Foundation, of course.
Spring Community Service:
Cleaning up our beloved Athens
Brother Shurett has started a business called Athentic, which specializes in Mediterranean food and craft hummus. Grayson is the CEO of this rapidly growing operation, and has been having success marketing and selling his product on campus and throughout Athens. If you’d like to give Athentic a try, look them up on Facebook!

Recruitment Success As everyone in the fraternity knows, recruitment is a huge deal and is essential to a chapter’s long term establishment and success. This past summer 2014, we worked tirelessly day and night to find well-balanced, quality guys that would represent the chapter well. We initiated 33 new men (pictured above) from different backgrounds who have become highly involved and successful at the University of Georgia.
Alumni Recognition
GA Alpha recognizes the dedicated efforts of our chapter advisory board and all alumni who have helped us re-found to be as successful as we are today. Your selflessness, time, and contributions do not go unnoticed. I hope that you get to see what we have accomplished if you have not already done so because great things are ahead for the GA Alpha Phi Delta Theta Chapter!

Looking Ahead Our goal is for alumni relations to be regular and always-improving. In the fall we will continue to have the alumni luncheon and in the spring to have a Founder’s Day event. If you are at all interested in speaking to the chapter about your career, how to be successful after graduation, or any area of interest, please do not hesitate to contact me! We would love to meet more of you guys and hear your stories. I’m hoping we can work together to improve on scholarships, community service, philanthropy, social life, and house management and renovation. Contact me with any ideas, questions or concerns – we need your support!
Please inform the chapter if your business email, address or phone number changes to make sure our records are updated and we do not lose contact with you! Proud to Be a Phi!
