PHOENIX MILITARY ACADEMY

a college preparatory high school

A message from the Academy Superintendent / Principal

Welcome to Phoenix Military Academy:

Phoenix Military Academy is a college-preparatory Chicago Public High School where students are engaged in a challenging and rewarding educational experience. Our goal is to provide a strong foundation for post-secondary educational success. Structure, guidance, and a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum are the base by which we help build self-discipline and self-confidence in each of our students. From registration through graduation we provide the planning and support students need to attain their goals. We encourage each student to explore the myriad of opportunities available to them after high school. The teachers and staff members of Phoenix Military Academy strive to know every student personally. We believe that building strong relationships with our students fosters higher achievement and greater success. Furthermore, each student is highly encouraged to participate in a full range of extracurricular activities such as academic teams, sports teams and clubs. We believe that the more involved students are in their school and education, the greater their potential will be for a rewarding future.

I encourage you and your families to take the opportunity to learn more about Phoenix Military Academy and the promise it holds for future of those who attend. I wish you success in all of your endeavors.

Sincerely,

Ferdinand WipachitAcademy Superintendent/Principal

Vision

Phoenix Military Academy seeks to develop young people that they may become citizens of leadership,

character, and vision for our nation.

Mission

The staff of Phoenix Military Academy will promote student development in five (5) areas of focus: Leadership, Character, Citizenship, Service, Academics.

Why attend Phoenix Military Academy

Students who attend Phoenix Military Academy are afforded the opportunity to reach their highest academic potential. This is accomplished through a team of highly qualified educators who are committed to providing the best education both inside and outside of the classroom. Our educators are trained in using research-supported instructional practices, assessments, and evaluations that promote growth in learning.

Integral to the Phoenix Military Academy education is the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) of which every student is a member. The JROTC program prepares high school students for leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. It is a stimulus for promoting higher academic achievement and provides instruction and rewarding opportunities which will benefit the student, community, and nation.

Student Opportunities

Every student who attends Phoenix Military Academy participates in the Student Development Program which addresses academic, social, and emotional growth through a structured series of activities and workshops. From the start of freshman year, students begin planning for college and their future using Choices Planner , a computerized planning program endorsed by the Chicago Public Schools Department of Post-Secondary Education. Each student is also assigned a Mentor who monitors the student’s academic achievement serving both as an advocate and role model.

Phoenix Military Academy students also enjoy a wide variety of extra-curricular activities like sports teams, academic teams, social clubs, and much more. We believe that a well-rounded education includes participation in other structured activities that are safe, fun, and challenge students both physically and mentally.
