Introduction
These are the Sky Photography Guidelinesfor Deliverable Programmes.
This document is an outline of how photography commissioned by Sky should be delivered to the Sky Stills Department.
It will cover the following requirements:
It will explain the different requirements for both Unit and Specials imagery.
It will also include a checklist of requirements on the back page that must be completed that must be completed by the Sky Stills Deptfor image delivery to pass BSkyB Stills Quality Control.
Pre Production Photography Meeting
A Pre Production Photography meeting must be organised prior to shooting and should be attended by a representative from the Sky Stills Dept, Sky PR, Sky Production and the Production company.
This Meeting will agree the following:
• Photography brief• Unit Day Allocation• Image Delivery Deadlines• Method of Image Delivery• Level Of Retouch expected• Times of update meetings to be scheduled
where necessary
• How imagery should be delivered• What formats should be submited• The level of post production work expected• The required photography licence agreement• Talent approval• Captioning information requirements
Image Delivery
Imagery must be delivered to the Sky Stills Dept by the deadline agreed at the Pre Production meeting.
All images must be delivered talent approved.
Imagery must be captioned to BSkyB guideline specifications listed on page 3/4.
Imagery to meet technical specifications listed on page 3/4.
All imagery submitted should be colour corrected and retouched where appropriate to a professional standard.
A photographers licence must be delivered with imagery.
The Stills Dept can also help with supplying or selecting a photographer for your production through the Photography Production team.
Photography Production have two staff photographers who are experienced in both Unit and Specials photography and both are available at a reduced rate on Sky productions.
Photography Production also has a roster of pre approved freelance photographers that will meet your budget and licensing needs.

Unit Imagery
Licence
A Photographers licence must be providedwhen Unit imagery is delivered.
The licence must be cleared for:
• All Media • WorldWide• In Perpetuity
Delivery & Technical Specifications
A Minimum of 20 varied stills per episode to include varied key moments/action points and characters in both landscape and portrait format.
Photography should be delivered after eachepisode or as agreed with the Sky Stills Dept at the Photography Pre Production Meeting.
Imagery Should be supplied as :
• Minimum 300dpi• Minimum 30mb uncompressed• Talent approved• Colour corrected RAW & TIF imagery• An additional set of Lo-res Jpegs
Imagery must be supplied colour corrected to a professional standard as agreed in the Photography Pre Production Meeting.
Artist Approval
All imagery should be submitted to the stills department artist approved in accordance with any artist contracts.
File names & Caption Information
All imagery must be supplied fully captioned within the metadata of each file.
The File names applied to both the Raw, Tif and also the Jpeg files, must match to keep everything consistent.
Caption information must include:
Headline:
Title of the Programme with series number if applicable.
Description:Title of the programme Series number Episode number and name (if applicable)Channel details (if known)Cast name followed by character name Short description of SceneCopyright/Picture credit details
Keywords:
Included in the keywords we would require:Programme Name; Channel (if known); Series number; Episode number; Cast Names

Specials Imagery
Licence
A Photographers licence must be provided when Specials imagery is delivered.
The licence must be for:
• All Media • WorldWide• In Perpetuity
Delivery & Technical Specifications
Imagery must be delivered in the time frame agreed and retouched to the level specified by Sky PR and Stills during the Photography Pre Production meeting.
Caption information must include:
Headline:
Title of the Programme with series number if applicable.
Description: Title of the programme Series number Channel details (if known)Cast name followed by character name Copyright/Picture credit details
Keywords:
Included in the keywords we would require:Programme Name; Channel (if known); Series number; Cast Names

The Checklist provided is an easy reference for completing delivery to Sky Stills Department specifications.
Failure to complete the Unit and/or Specials imagery checklist will result in your submitted photography not passing BSkyB Stills quality control.
