Going away to college is a fun, exciting, and a sometimes-scary experience. We
are only given four short years, five if we are lucky, and it is important that you get the
most out of you college campus. Purdue has so many great legends, traditions, and
activities to offer it is important that you know where to go and what to see before your
time is up. The pictures I chose are only a few of the many things Purdue has to offer. I
chose the things that I think, in my opinion, are important to do and see before you
graduate. Although these things may vary from person to person I am confident that the
pictures I included are things that every student should experience and would find
enjoyable.
The design of my project is simple but eye-catching. I chose to use the yellow-
gold that is a traditional Purdue school color. I used Trebuchet MS regular and used the
inner and outer glow along with the drop shadow for the font. All of the photos have
been enhanced and edited in some way. I chose the cover page picture because it is one
of the few gates to Purdue and everything in my project has to do with Purdue’s campus.
I chose the simple yellow-gold background to stay consistent throughout the project. I
kept the backgrounds for the rest of the pictures simple so that it wasn’t distracting for the
viewer and so that the pictures could be the main focus of each page. I distorted very few
of the pictures so that you could see a clear and vibrant picture in the majority of them.
For the photo of XXX I wanted the Black and Orange to be what caught the viewer’s eye
first since that is what catches the attention of those who dine there. In my opinion less is
more and although the backgrounds and fonts are not crazy I feel that it is the picture that
should be the main focus in this project.

As stated in my thesis, the four years you have at Purdue fly by and you need to
experience everything Purdue has to offer in these short years. It seems like just
yesterday I was moving into Shreve dormitory but yet I am already going to be a junior
this coming year. I only have nine pictures but yet I have only experienced six of them.
This just goes to show you that you need to use your time wisely while you are here and
make the most of you college experience. I have said every year so far that I will do a
fountain run, but two years later I still haven’t done one and I only have two years left.
When looking at my project you may be surprised to learn about some of the things
important to Purdue’s history. Many of these myths and legends are unknown to students
and as a student on this campus I think that it is important that you know your school’s
history and what it has to offer. When looking at my project I feel that it is pleasing to
the eye and easy to look at. My captions are creative and my paragraphs accurately
express why I feel it is important to experience each of these things. I didn’t want the
pages to be distracting so I kept them simple with one picture per page, a caption, and a
paragraph. When looking at the CRAP principle I feel that I did a good job keeping the
pages consistent. The contrast on each page is enough that it stands out but not too much
where it hurts your eyes. The alignment varies on a few pages because of the shape of
the picture but for the most part everything is aligned similarly. The caption, picture, and
paragraph are spaced out so that it is pleasing to the eye and so that you can pay attention
to each item individually. My project as a whole is unique and interesting to read. I
know that I learned some new things about Purdue and I hope that you did too.
