    Phase two consultation

    During our phase two consultation

    (4 November 2011 10 February2012) we asked or your views onour preerred sites and preerredmain tunnel route.

    Over the 14 week period we held57 exhibitions at over 20 locationsalong the route o the proposedtunnel. Over 2,000 people attendedthese sessions and there wereover 70,000 hits on our website.In addition to this, we held 48public meetings. In total we receivedover 6,000 responses twice theamount we received during ourfrst phase o consultation.

    Statement o communityconsultation and thePlanning Act 2008

    We expect the project to bedesignated as a NationallySignifcant Inrastructure Project,which would all under the remito the Planning Inspectorate.We have thereore been ollowingthe requirements or pre-applicationconsultation as set out in thePlanning Act 2008.

    In our Statement of communityconsultation, we recognised thatwe might need to amend our projectin the light o comments receivedduring phase two consultation.We made a commitment to considerwhether any changes we proposedwould aect the nature o thecomments received during thisperiod o ormal consultation andwhere appropriate to undertake

    targeted consultation.

    Targeted consultationFollowing our second phase o public consultationwe are considering some changes to our plans or theproposed Thames Tunnel project.

    As a result o the eedbackwe received during phase twoconsultation, we are consideringchanges to some o the proposalsor certain sites. We are nowconsulting on these changesand are seeking peoples views.As with our frst two phases opublic consultation, we have madeinormation about these changes

    available on our website, at relevantlibraries and town halls, and atlocal exhibitions. The targetedconsultation will last or 28 days.

    In addition to changes at thesites mentioned we have madesome modifcations to theproposed tunnel alignmentand site boundaries. We havewritten to those who arepotentially aected notiyingthem o these changes andinorming them o this consultation.

    To help you understand ouramended proposals we havedeveloped the ollowing material:

    A supplementary siteinormation paper or the oursites. These papers ocus on thechanges that have been made

    to the inormation we presentedat phase two consultation.

    An updated Book of plansassociated with these our sites.

    A series of maps showing theproposed changes in site andtunnel limits to the inormationpresented at phase twoconsultation.

    Addendums to the relevantPreliminary environmentalinformation report chapters.

    Next stepsAny urther comments we receive asa result o this targeted consultationwill be taken into account as weprepare our Development ConsentOrder (DCO) application.

    We will publish our drat applicationoutlining the route and sites we intendto include in our DCO application insummer 2012. At that time we willpublicise our proposals or at leastsix weeks.

    We expect to submit our DCOapplication to the PlanningInspectorate in early 2013.

    Construction o the project isexpected to begin in 2016 andtake six to seven years to complete.

    About the changes

    Barn Elms a change tothe access road. We are nowproposing to access the siterom Queen Elizabeth Walk.

    Putney EmbankmentForeshore we are proposingto modiy the location andlayout o the temporary worksand our permanent design.

    Albert EmbankmentForeshore a proposedalternative to the accessroad proposed at phase twoconsultation. Were consideringaccessing the site via atemporary road betweenTintagel House andCamelord House.

    Victoria Embankment

    Foreshore a new designor the permanent workswhich takes into accountthe need to preserve thedesign o the existingGrade II listed embankmentby Sir Joseph Bazelgette.
