Sponsorship Proposal

Pål Krogdahl

How This Sponsorship Will Benefit

You and Your Business

A racecar sponsorship is more than just a rolling billboard. Sure, you will have your company’s name on the car

but there are many other valuable benefits.

You get a driver who can help network and promote your business.

Provide exposure for your business.

Corporate entertainment for your customers and suppliers.

Possible tax write-offs.

Can be utilized to improve employee morale – it will definitely be fun for you and your employees to be-

come involved in.

You are welcome to get as involved with the racing as you would like, and can even include your customers.

I would be more than happy to discuss any ideas you may have, and look forward to continuing discussions with

you.

How can motorsports sponsorship

benefit your business?

There are some common myths about Motorsports Sponsorship that are not quite true, such as:

Providing sponsorship is simply too expensive. Not true! You determine how you would like to provide

assistance – there are many different forms of sponsorship and it does not have to include financial sup-

port.

All that you receive in return for sponsoring is your company’s name on the car. As briefly stated on the

following page, there are many other benefits you will receive.

Motorsports sponsorship can increase name and brand awareness through visibility in the community, improve

revenue, and employee morale. Of course, an added benefit is the potential tax break through advertising write-

off you may be able to obtain for your business.

Have you ever passed a trailer carrying a racecar on the road? Let me ask you, did it catch your eye? The atten-

tion received while transporting the racecar to races is tremendous. Maybe we could park the car in front of

your business? It will definitely draw attention. You’ll find customers coming in and asking about the racecar.

Use the opportunity as a public relations vehicle by displaying the racing team picture on the wall of the office or

store.

Racing sponsorship improves the loyalty of a company’s employees. Think of simple things such as a polo shirt

with the race team name and your company’s logo on it. Racing events can be a very fun family outing - employ-

ees and their children would really appreciate a day at the track. Another incentive that can be used to build a

company’s morale is to allow an employee(s) to work on the car preparation. Obviously this will apply more if

you are an automotive shop or related business.

Even if you personally have no interest in racing, you can still take advantage of the promotional advantage it

can provide your business. Racing events can be a great environment for the prospective client or existing cus-

tomer who happens to be a race fan. Again, use the opportunity to be creative and differentiate your company

from other companies in your market. There is no doubt that more exposure in the community will translate into

a sale down the road.

A racing sponsorship is more than just a

rolling billboard ...

You also develop a relationship with a driver who can help you network and promote your business. A driver’s

performance can be evaluated in several different areas. Is the driver a person you want representing and selling

your company? What is the driver willing to do for you? Would you feel comfortable going to an event with your

employees and prospective customers? How would the driver treat you?

I realize the importance of supporting my sponsors through many different methods and am always willing to

discuss various ways that we can make this relationship even more beneficial for you.

What types of sponsorship opportunities are there?

There are many different ways you can provide sponsorship. Sometimes it just takes a little creativity. Of course

there is always monetary support. You could also become a product sponsor by providing items needed for the

racing season. Often times sponsors will provide racers with unique types of sponsorship that have no direct

correlation to racing itself, but allow funds that would normally be spent on other products or services to be

used for the racing. I would be more than happy to discuss any ideas you may have.

Additional Benefits Sponsors Will Receive

Your company’s name will be placed on the racecar and may also include contact information such as your e-

mail address, phone number, location, etc. You can also use this space for special promotional advertisements or

as a reward to your suppliers or customers. The size of the sign will coincide with the value of support given. It is

also possible to obtain in-car racing video with your company’s name displayed in the video. I would be more

than happy to provide you with these videos for you to use for promotional purposes or simply for you to watch

for fun. You will also receive race tickets and pit passes so you or others can attend races where the option is

available. Anyone interested in becoming more involved in racing is also welcome to become a part of the “race

crew” for any of the events.

Basic signage to appear on the racecar will be provided at no charge. This includes all letters and numbers for

your signs. If you are interested in incorporating pictures, logos or other advertising signage, it will be necessary

to discuss how this will be provided and associated costs.

What is road racing and the

PRCF Sports Cup?

Road racing is conducted on paved roadways / tracks that utilize both left and right turns that form a track. Some

professional examples of road racing leagues are the World Touring Car Championships and Formula One. The

clubs I race with is called the Porsche Racing Club Finland (PRCF) Sports Cup.

The PRCF is a large non-profit organization featuring active membership participation in Finnish motorsports

related to Porsche racing. The foundation of the PRCF remains its Club Racing program. The club racing program

is very successful in grooming top-class drivers which progress onto the Porsche GT3 Cup Trophy and the Por-

sche Carrera Cup.

The racecar

2001 Porsche Boxster S...

The car I race now is a 2001 Porsche Boxster S and races within the PRCF Sports Cup in class 8B. Many racing

fans, for obvious reasons, can easily associate with the vehicles racing in the Sports Cup such as the Boxster I

run. While it is often difficult to picture yourself driving a Formula One car, it is easy to dream of racing a

“regular” streetcar like these.

The car was built for me by Specialist Vehicle Preparations in the UK during 2010 and delivered to Finland in ear-

ly 2011 in time for the season start. The car retains the factory 3.2 litre engine rated at 252Bhp, but the car has

been substantially striped and is therefore much lighter than a normal Porsche Boxster S.

To give better acceleration, the factory 6 speed transmission has been replaced with a closer ratio 5 speed one

from the smaller 2.7 litre Porsche Boxster. The car has also been fitted with a custom designed aero kit to in-

crease down force and give much better cornering characteristics.

At the end of the 2012 season, the suspension was replaced and the car was fitted with wider wheels, which

improved the overall performance of the car and helped to secure the 2013 championship.

The car is now maintained and serviced by CCR Motorsports Engineering in Espoo.

The driver

Pa l Krogdahl...

I am a husband, a father, a amateur racer and a car enthusiast…

I have a loving and supporting family who puts up with my mad desire for cars and motorsport as well as my (at

times) failure to balance work and family. I have three lovely children and a great wife who I would be lost with-

out.

Whilst I have had a close relationship with cars and the Porsche brand for many years, I am relatively new to

racing. My first season in competitive racing was in 2011, where I spent most of my time finding my limits and

getting to know my car. For the last two years I have had great success with team CoolCava Racing. My highlights

to date have been:

2013: 1st overall for the season and 1st in class.

2012: 2nd overall for the season and 1st in class.

2011: 20th overall for the season.

I hope that next year will be just as successful for both me and the team in the PRCF Sports Cup.

Please feel free to contact me to further discuss potential sponsorship opportunities and to learn more about its

many benefits to you. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you in person to further discuss the bene-

fits this relationship will provide you. Thank you for your consideration!

Motorsport and racing

is a team effort…

At the end of the 2011 PRCF Sports Cup racing season, three drivers came to-

gether and formed the team CoolCava Racing. Built on the back of a small motor-

sports engineering company based in Espoo, the racing team entered the 2012

season with one Porsche 996 GT3 Cup car and two street based racing cars. The

team then proceeded to win the 2012 season with the three drivers taking over-

all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

For the 2013 season the team won the season again, with the drivers taking

overall 1st, 2nd and 6th in the PRCF Sports Cup.

The current line-up of the CoolCava Racing team includes the three drivers and

one team mechanic.

Pål Krogdahl: A Norwegian living in Espoo, Pål has 3 years racing experience in

PRCF Sports Cup with a 2001 Porsche Boxster S.

Timo Virkki: Timo who lives in Tampere has 3 years experience racing in PRCF

Sports Cup with several cars, including a Porsche 996 GT3 Cup.

Toni Niemelä: Also based in Tampere, Toni has extensive racing history both with

PRCF and in Auto Cross. Toni currently runs in the Sports Cup and the GT3 Cup

Trophy with a Porsche 996 GT3 Cup

Shardul Gawas: Indian borne but currently living in Espoo, Shardul has an exten-

sive history in motor vehicle repair and maintenance, and works for a successful

independent garage in Vantaa.
