From the desk of the Professor–In-Charge
I, through this column, extend a warm welcome to the prospective recruiters of CLC for the
upcoming campus placements, 2019-20.
With a legacy that spans over a period of 95 years, CLC is a deep-rooted institution that has proven
its academic excellence in the legal field not only in India, but also in Asia. In consonance with the
development and evolution in legal education worldwide, CLC encourages the supplementation of
classroom teaching with extra and co- curricular activities. Further, it provides students with
leadership opportunities and the space to develop a healthy team spirit. I take pride in stating that
CLC is the alma mater of various reputed personalities who are now placed in top-ranking law firms,
corporate houses and has also been instrumental in producing numerous cabinet ministers, senior
advocates, Chief justices and law officers.
Journal "The Campus Law Centre Student Law Review", which is the result of the sheer hard work,
the students put in, speaks volumes about their research and writing capabilities. Our students,
with their strong foundation of conceptual understanding of legal principles and with practical
exposure through internships in different realms, have always proven to be valuable assets in
whatever capacity they have been recruited in the past.
Looking forward to welcome you at Campus Law Centre.

From the Desk of the
Teacher Convener
Intellectual and professional prowess resonates from an astute and a dynamic education. A
student is a reflection of his alma mater. To gauge the success of legal education one need
only to look at the alumnus.
The Campus Law Centre has proved its self-time and again as a center for excellence which
has undoubtedly put it in the highest echelons of legal education. Our alumni are shining
examples of how diverse the education they receive and how adaptable they are. We have
produced Judges in the higher judiciary, advocates who have gone on to become renowned
senior counsels, teachers, in-house lawyers, politicians and journalists, each of whom are at
the very pinnacle of professional excellence.
In this day and age where legal education has transformed itself to a great magnitude and
law has become a Profession of choice, rather than necessity, the CLC has kept abreast
with international best practices to churn out well rounded students who are ready to take
on the world and will be an asset to any organization. I wish the batch of 2020 the very best
as they take up the mantle, as ambassadors of this august institution.

Established in 1924, Campus Law Centre (CLC) began as
the morning classes for Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
CLC offers three-year LL.B. courses to graduates and is one
of the oldest and most prestigious institutions.
Noting the growing reputation and popularity of full-time
day classes, it was given a distinct identity and was renamed
as CLC in 1975 and Faculty of Law was to administer LL.M.
and Ph.D. Programmes. A full time Professor was appointed
as Professor-In-Charge to run CLC independently. Professor
(Dr.) Lotika Sarkarwas its first Professor-In-Charge. Professor
(Dr.) Raman Mittal, who presently occupies this position is
twenty-fifth Professor-In-Charge of CLC.
In its 95-year legacy, CLC has maintained its
reputation of producing excellent lawyers, academicians and
judges. The notable Alumni of Campus Law Centre have been
serving the Nation as Union Cabinet Ministers, Chief Justice
and Judges of The Supreme Court of India, Judges and
successful advocates practicing in various courts as well as
lawyers in the private sector.
The institution has endeavoured to adapt to the changing
demands of legal education, responding by introducing not
only new subjects and concepts but also adapting to
socially more relevant teaching.

CAMPUS LAW CENTRE
By virtue of offering the three-year law degree, CLC
attracts a very illustrious and bright minded student
population each year. The student body at the institution
is one of the most diverse at law colleges, not only multi-
cultural and multi-lingual but also, having different
backgrounds ranging from engineers to arts and even
finance graduates and even students already holding
multiple degrees. It is a deep-rooted legal institution of
par excellence having a glorious past and a bright future
ahead.
Qualitative teaching, moot-court competitions, campus
placements, legal-aid services, regular discussions, and
illustrious alumni are some of the features, which have
established CLC as a Centre of Excellence. Apart from
encouraging discussions and participation, CLC has
focused on ‘case-study’ based teaching methodology,
allowing the students
to inculcate a deep understanding of theoretical legal
knowledge along with the understanding of case-laws.
Along with academics, CLC offers many co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities to the students through societies.
The four major facilitators for this purpose are – Moot
Court Society, Legal Aid Society, Debates and Discussion
Society and the Placement Assistance Council.
