Clinical�Pharmacy�DepartmentGlance�of�the�Department
The�department�of�Clinical�Pharmacy�was�established�in�the�year�2009�at�Adichunchanagiri�Hospital�and�
Research�centre,�B.G�Nagar�to�facilitate�easy�accessibility�of�pharmacist�with�doctors�and�patients.�The�
Department� is� facilitated�with� spacious� class� rooms,�modern� seminar�hall,� library,� electronic�database�
(Micromedex),� Internet,�drug� information�centre�and�equipped�with�basic�amenities�and�resources� for�
professional�need.��The�staffs�were�involved�in�the�various�research�activities�which�is�need�of�the�hour�and�
they�actively�monitoring�students�for�ward�rounds,�adverse�drug�reaction�monitoring�and�reporting�drug�
information,�patient�counselling,�medication�history�interview�and�other�clinical�pharmacy�services.
Research
The�department�is�engaged�in�research�activities�on�the�theme�of�patient�safety,�promoting�rational�use�of�
drugs,�cost�effectiveness�of�the�therapy�(Pharmaco�economics),�adverse�drug�reactions�monitoring�and�
reporting,�patient�counselling�etc.
Achievements:
•� The�department�has�extended�its�services�to�the�medical�healthcare�camps�and�mega�health�melas���
� organized�by�the�hospital�and�by�the�government�in�community�on�various�occasions.
•� During� natural� calamities� like� floods,� in� affected� part� of� the� district;� the� post� graduate� students�
� responded�enthusiastically�for�this�humble�cause�of�services�and�as�a�responsible�pharmacists�together�
� with�medical�team�took�part�in�dispensing�of�medications.�

The�department�of�Clinical�Pharmacy�was�established�in�the�year�2009�at�Adichunchanagiri�Hospital�and�
Research�centre,�B.G�Nagar�to�facilitate�easy�accessibility�of�pharmacist�with�doctors�and�patients.�The�
Department� is� facilitated�with� spacious� class� rooms,�modern� seminar�hall,� library,� electronic�database�
(Micromedex),� Internet,�drug� information�centre�and�equipped�with�basic�amenities�and�resources� for�
professional�need.��The�staffs�were�involved�in�the�various�research�activities�which�is�need�of�the�hour�and�
they�actively�monitoring�students�for�ward�rounds,�adverse�drug�reaction�monitoring�and�reporting�drug�
information,�patient�counselling,�medication�history�interview�and�other�clinical�pharmacy�services.
Research
The�department�is�engaged�in�research�activities�on�the�theme�of�patient�safety,�promoting�rational�use�of�
drugs,�cost�effectiveness�of�the�therapy�(Pharmaco�economics),�adverse�drug�reactions�monitoring�and�
reporting,�patient�counselling�etc.
Achievements:
•� The�department�has�extended�its�services�to�the�medical�healthcare�camps�and�mega�health�melas���
� organized�by�the�hospital�and�by�the�government�in�community�on�various�occasions.
•� During� natural� calamities� like� floods,� in� affected� part� of� the� district;� the� post� graduate� students�
� responded�enthusiastically�for�this�humble�cause�of�services�and�as�a�responsible�pharmacists�together�
� with�medical�team�took�part�in�dispensing�of�medications.�
•� Patient�counselling�is�the�most�important�part�of�pharmaceutical�care;�it�leads�to�better�understanding�
