What  is  a  Visual  Maintenance  Board

•  It  is  a  board  that  has  pictures  of  equipment  and  the  manufacturing  facility  broken  down  into  secNons.

•  It  is  a  common  place  for  all  equipment  keys  to  hung.

•  At  a  glance  it’s  stop  light  gauging  visually  shows  the  status  of  the  plant  and  every  piece  of  equipment  in  it.

What  drove  the  idea?

-‐ Individuals  were  not  always  reporNng  issues  to  the  same  person.  -‐   calls  were  being  made  mulNple  Nmes  for  the  same  issue.  -‐   supervisors  were  told  about  the  same  issue  from  different  people.  -‐   “KEYS”  –  where  or  who  has  the  keys?  -‐   MulNple  pieces  of  equipment,  so  exactly  which  one  is  it?  -‐   small  issues  inside  the  plant  were  not  being  taken  care  of  or  not  being  reported.

Why  the  need  for  Visual  Maintenance?

•  Stop  light  gauging  •  Red  –  Equipment  failure  and  is  inoperable.  •  Yellow  -‐  operaNonal  but  requires  maintenance  ASAP.  •  Green  –  Good  to  go!

Status  of  the  enNre  plant  at  a  glance

•  Team  Leaders  and  Supervisor  can  review  and  log  areas  and  equipment  in  one  area.

•  Status  of  plant  and  equipment  is  visual  to  all  EE’s.  •  Changing  shi[  can  see  equipment  status  before  entering  the  work  area.

Centralized  Maintenance

•  Next  to  the  picture  of  each  piece  of  equipment  is  a  hook  to  hang  the  keys.

•  Standardized  area  for  keys  instead  of  having  to  search  for  them.
