This fall, you can join us for our Epic Wilderness hiking series, learn to build a backyard pond or even test your skills at one of our stand up paddleboard clinics.

(18+) Join us on the field this fall as the Roanoke Valley’s only Virginia Flag Football Association (VFFA) sanctioned league is back again. Teams will have the opportunity to qualify for state and national tournament bids. Games are played on Sunday afternoons for eight weeks with an end-of-season tournament. We encourage you to try any of our fitness and wellness programs by participating in one class before registering to see if it’s the right fit!

Class rating system

Low intensity, low-impact class. Movements are slow and precise with no high-impact moves such as jumping, running, bouncing, etc. This class level is appropriate for all fitness levels.

Moderate intensity, low-impact class. This class does not contain high-impact moves such as jumping and running; however, some exercises will be intense requiring some muscular strength and endurance. This class level is appropriate for active participants at beginning, intermediate or advanced fitness levels.

Moderate/high-intensity, moderate/high-impact class. A mixture of slow, controlled movements with fast-paced more intense moves including some low jumping and bouncing. This class level is designed for intermediate to advanced fitness levels.

High-intensity/high-impact class. Movements are intense and require the ability to perform high-impact moves like lifting heavier weight, jumping, sprinting and running. This class level is designed for advanced fitness levels.

The “Roanoke 7 Summits” is a fun play-off of the international mountaineering challenge of climbing each of the seven continent’s highest mountains. Voted the most difficult hike of past Roanoke 7 Summits programs, this 6.6 mile out and back hike was also voted the best of the series last year. 28SEPT. On the Trails Duathlon

Course # 5154 10 a.m. VARIES

(18+, 10+ with an adult) The inaugural On the Trails Duathlon will take place at Carvins Cove this September and showcase some of the most popular views and trails the Cove has to offer. The race starts with a 2.5 mile out and back trail run up and down Waters Edge Trail. Participants then transition to mountain bikes for a 12 mile loop on Happy Valley, Schoolhouse, Enchanted Forest, and Arrowhead trails. The course wraps up with another 2.5 mile out and back run. This is a great course that offers everything from fire roads to technical, hilly single track and is designed to show you what the Cove has to offer for both runners and bikers. It is highly recommended that all mountain bikers ride a functional mountain bike as the bike section of the trail comprises about half of the distance with technical single track. Early Registration until Aug. 30: $40 for individuals/$60 for teams. Pre-Register until Sept.25: $50 for individuals/$70 for teamsLocation: Hollins boat landing at Carvins Cove. The Odyssey Mill Mountain Trail Half Marathon will be a scenic, but challenging trail running race that will start and finish at the Roanoke GO Outside Festival.
