Adult Ministry

Ever Feel Stressed Out? The adult Sunday School class (meeting in auditorium) is going through a four week video series by bestselling author and pastor Bill Hybels where he unpacks ten key areas of life that can get out of focus—from finances to relationships to time commitments—and offers practical insights for making changes to create a life with greater peace and energy anchored in the priorities that matter most.

Calling all Preschoolers!!! WeeJAM Summer Slam July 28th & 29th from 5:30-8pm We are offering a Thursday & Friday mini VBS for Preschoolers (2year olds through 5 year olds, which includes those going into Kindergarten) called the WeeJAM Summer Slam. We will feed these little tikes supper promptly at 5:30, and then have them divide into their age appropriate classes for some fun hands- on activities, energetic sing and praise, and an awesome Bible adventure. There will be lots of summer fun activities included throughout the two evenings which will include a kid-sized water slide and a kiddie pool party.

There is no charge. Each child will need to bring a swim suit and a towel each evening, for the outdoor summer fun activity, weather permitting☺ This event is a great opportunity to invite friends with preschoolers. Please register children at www.tscoc.com under Children’s Ministry. If you have any questions, contact Sissy Giffin at [email protected] or 338-2248. As always, we need plenty of hands to help, especially with preschool age. If you are willing to volunteer, please text Sissy at 619-2592 or email as soon as possible. Looking forward to the WeeJAM Summer Slam with our wee ones!!!

Summer Fun Super Sleepover For kids going into 1st-6th grades The fun begins Friday, July 15 at 8pm !!!

We need at least 4 adult volunteers to help out! It’s time for another Super Sleep-Over! It’s going to be an awesome evening spent consuming lots of yummy food, playing outrageous games, scooting, skating, and of course, hanging with friends! All attending will need to register. You can do that online at www.tscoc.com under Children’s Ministry/Events or by filling out the paper form located at Kid Check. This lets us know an approximate number to prepare for. Parents or guardians will need to come in and sign the children “in” that evening and “out” that morning. If someone else is picking your child up, you need to inform us that evening. This event is for all kids that are going into 1st - 6th grades, and we encourage the children to invite their friends. Each child will need a sleeping bag, pillow, and sweats or shorts and a T-shirt to sleep in. Don’t forget your skates and scooters, and if you have an extra, please bring them to share. No skateboards or motorized scooters. There will be a rest time around 12:00 when the children will be required to be sitting or laying on their bedding, with a movie and snack. Usually the kids are asleep before the movie ends☺ Wake-up call is at 7am. We help the children pack-up and then have a light breakfast together until parents arrive at 8am for pick-up. If you have any questions, please see or contact Sissy Giffin at [email protected]. If you can be a volunteer for this event, please let Sissy know ASAP.

Community

Celebrate Recovery on Friday Nights The Celebrate Recovery group meets on Fridays at 6:30 in the JAM room. Anyone is welcome to attend. Please enter by the back door into the kids’ area.

Looking For an Opportunity to Serve Our Community? There is a need for volunteers to assist in serving a meal at the SOULS (Serving Others in Unity and Love) services on Saturdays. The meals are prepared, we just need some help. If you are able to help please contact Rod Sershen, 252-562-2502 for details.

Volunteers Needed for Coast Guard Base Women's Bible Study Childcare assistance needed for the Coast Guard Base Women’s Bible study from 9:30-11:30am on Tuesdays beginning this September. We need weekly and/or monthly volunteers to assist with this important discipleship opportunity for ladies/mothers new to our community. The women’s chapel study is a vibrant ministry, and we would greatly appreciate your help. If a base pass is needed, we may be able to provide one. Volunteers please contact Amy Sheffield, 843-327-4707.

Great Opportunity in August - Good Grief Ministry Johnny and Beverly Herbst will be with us on August 14-16 to help us learn to cope with grief. Johnny and Beverly both lost their spouses to cancer in 2012. Two years later they married and realized they had unique circumstances that they could share with others through Good Grief Ministry. Their desire is to help those grieving through sharing Biblical truth, practical tips, and personal testimony. Johnny has served for years as a minister (Jonathan Snoots is one of his Timothies) and Beverly served years as a school counselor.

Johnny will preach on Sunday morning. The seminar will be on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. PLEASE use your personal relationships with people in other churches to invite them to this very valuable and helpful seminar.

Towne South's First Annual Great Giveaway - August 20th, 8am to Noon This is a community outreach where everyone can get involved in some way. We will need many volunteers in many capacities to make this outreach the blessing and success we hope it will be. One of the ways that just about all of us can help is by cleaning out closets, attics, garages, etc., and then donating the items to the Great Giveaway.

Donated items are needed: from appliances to xylophones! Donations can be dropped off at TSCOC as early as Sunday, August 14 (following the service), and then Monday and Tuesday, August 15 and 16 from 9am to 8pm. The final day for taking donations will be Wednesday, August 17 from 9am to 5pm. This will allow two days for final preparation and organization of the items. This is no doubt a large undertaking, but with many hearts and hands involved it can be an incredible BLESSING to so many! We need your hands to help make the Giveaway a success. Please sign up to volunteer.
