:he remar$able development of information on the Web has

forced new challenges for the construction of eective searchengines.

:he only input to the search engine is the $eyword and it searchesthe whole WWW to provide the relevant information to the users.

However, most of users are li$ely to use only a few $eywords toconvey their information requirements, and thus the searchqueries usually do not correspond to what the users wantspecically. !n addition, with the huge development of theinformation presented on the Web, it is very complicated for Websearch engines to satisfy the user information requirement onlywith a short ambiguous query.

:o overcome such a basic diFculty of information retrieval,personalized search, which is to provide the customized searchresults to each user, is a very promising solution.

Bundamentally, in studying how a search can be personalized, themost signicant thing is to accurately identify usersG
