    WHATISAPODCAST?

Name comes from an iPod and Broadcast merged

    together and you have podcast.

Typically the definition is a Internet-based program

much like shows on traditional radio or television.

    But they are DIFFERENT

    They are flexible

Stored as digital files on the Internet or a MP3 player

Can be played again and again

The listener controls when they want to hear the

program (think On-Demand for audio files)

However, these files are only useable in Audacity.

They can not be heard on a media device or a

computer that does not have Audacity.

It does however allow you to continue to edit thefiles.

is done when the project is completed and you are

ready to publish it to a server.

NOTE: Before you can do this you need to locate

    the LAME driver.

    AGGREGATORS

RSS allows us to choose which kinds of subjectswe want to learn about via Internet articles. Thesame is true of a podcasting aggregator. You couldthink of a podcasting aggregator as RSPS, RealSimple Podcast Syndication.

The podcasting aggregator streams audio signalsthat you specify to yourMP3 player, or computer.

Perhaps the most well-known example of apodcasting aggregator today is Apple's iTunes. This

kind of podcasting aggregator is tied to Apple'sonlinemusic store, although podcasts are free ofcharge. Other online examples of the podcastingaggregator include Podcast Alley and Podcast.net.

    DOWNLOADSDONTHAVETOBELIVE

The podcasting aggregator is built on the theory

that downloads don't always have to be live. In

other words, we can set up a podcasting

aggregator to subscribe to podcasts and download

new episodes whenever they become available. Unlike radio, podcasts can be downloaded and

listened to at our leisure. They are there when we're

ready to listen to them, thanks to the podcasting

    aggregator.
