Loneliness

I feel so aloneDoes anyone hear the rich, the poor?

Can you see the tears as they start to fall?Or does anyone really care at all?

I look at my hands; a tear falls down my faceI know no beauty, no love no grace

My life’s so fast it’s a never ending raceHow long can I keep living at this lonely pace?

I look back on the years and cryI don’t wanna get old and dieI must keep my youth, I sigh

I look in the mirror and say who am I? But who am I you may ask

I can’t answer with such a taskThis day ahead may be my last

I say farewell cruel world this may be my lastBeyond the fields and hills untold As I sit and cry on a lonely road.

Lost Love

I feel the tears of love that’s lostOur broken hearts have a pricey costSeconds pass and now they’re lost

It’s like you and I were never togetherMy bitter tears fall down my face

There used to be love but now there is only spaceI’ll never tell you sweet words again

I never help you when you are in painWe both know we were good together

But now we’re apart so now we have broken heartsWe had love but now it’s past

We need time to heal so that we can love againYou are my lost love and I need to know if I’m right for the part

I met someoneWe dated on and off

I really felt a connection with himI began to fall for him

Then I fell in love with himWe aren’t together now

I am From

I’d love to be back in the countryWith fried chicken and collard greens drenched in hot sauce

Where my family and I sit around the table and talk about our day and how they can get better

Yeah it’s true, I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina

When I sit alone, I think about the world goes different ways instead of one way

The world changes its way everyday in everydayThe troubles in the world affect everyoneThe election is a big impact on the world

Cause we don’t know who we want to change the world

My family is from the countryWhere you hang your clothes outside to dry

The start of a brand new dayBegins with a smile

Well see I used to tell you I don’t love you

But I had to realize that I doI had to love you in order

About the Author

Renee Stinson is a student at SEED Public

Charter School. Her poetry name is Sweet Desire.

Renee is the third of seven children. Renee was the first

girl to be born. Most of Renée’s family lives in North

Carolina. She enjoys singing, dancing, writing, reading, playing the steel

pans, and helping those in need. Renee has traveled with Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra to

Florida and Illinois. She has been playing pan for twelve years. She has been writing poetry since the third grade. She loves to write because it gives her a chance to really

be able to open her heart and mind in the way of

poetry writing. She hopes that by writing this book it

will allow teenagers all around the world to see her meaning for life in poetry. Her favorite saying is, “Don’t stop until you reach the top.” She is saying that you should never settle for ok. If you really want it, go for it.

Renee lives in Washington, DC with her Aunt and brother. She believes that any body can write poetry, but it takes the heart to become a poet. Renee
