Poetry Portfolio Assignment You will be completing a portfolio style summative assessment for this unit. Over the course of the unit, you will write your OWN, ORIGINAL poems. This is your chance to use your imagination and show your creativity through poetry and writing! At the end of the unit, we will share these in a “Coffeehouse” setting. This will be worth a total of 205 points and will be due at the end of the unit. Requirements: Folder or Binder--Submit portfolio in a folder, binder, etc. NO loose sheets of paper will be accepted. 15 points Typed--Portfolios MUST be typed in 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font, with the exception of the cover page. NO “messy” portfolios will be accepted. You will have plenty of time to complete your portfolio, so that is plenty of time to track down a computer for typing. Portfolios that are not typed will receive a 15% point deduction. Cover page—Make sure that you include a cover page which includes an interesting TITLE for your poetry portfolio, your name, your teacher’s name, class period, and date. Also, add some color or a picture to the title page in order to make it creative! 15 points Table of Contents—You should have a table of contents that clearly state the title and type of poem and where it appears in your book, so that there will be no confusion during the grading process. The page numbers must match up to the numbers provided in the Table of Contents. 5 points Grammar and Conventions—you need to proofread your writing carefully. Obviously there will be some leniency toward punctuation, since poems aren’t sentences. But, you still must have writing free of errors in spelling, capitalization, etc. 30 points Your OWN, ORIGINAL poems WITH drafts/brainstorming sheets: 1. 9/11 Poem—You must write ONE poem……………………….............................20 points 2. Anaphora Poem—You must write ONE poem…………………………………..20 points
