Students who live south of Ulmerton Road must apply to the Center for Wellness at Boca Ciega High School. Students who live north of Ulmerton Road and south of Highway 60 may apply to either Center but not both. TRANSPORTATION Arterial bus transportation (buses that operate on main roads with a limited number of stops) is provided to students who live more than two miles from the school. Magnet bus stop locations may require that parents drive their children to and from the stop. ABOUT USThe Center for Wellness and Medical Professions is a four year program designed to prepare students for entry into postsecondary programs as well as direct entry into health industry careers. They will exit the program with a strong backgroundin medical technology, pathophysiology and numerous hands-on experiences that culminate in clinicals in their chosen field.

MEDICAL PROGRAMPrepares students for institutions of higher learningrequiring postgraduate studies leading to careers suchas:• Physician • Dentist, Dental Hygienist • Pharmacist,Pharmacy Technician • Veterinarian, Veterinary Technician• Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant •Registered Nurse • Radiologist • Respiratory Therapist

TECHNICALPrepares students for a license when they graduatehigh school in:• Nursing Assistant (CNA) • Eco Cardia Technician (EKG)• Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

The Center for Medical Wellness Professions at PalmHarbor University High School is an academicallyrigorous program in which students may participate inhonors or Advanced Placement (AP) level courses inmath, science, social studies or language arts. Inaddition, students in this program participate inelective courses which may include technology, worldlanguage, or other honors and AP level academicelectives. Students who typically do well in thisprogram earn mostly As and Bs on their report cards,maintaining a 2.0 average and earn proficient scoreson their FSA mathematics and language arts annualassessments. Students new to Pinellas County Schoolswho do not have an FSA score, can look at theirstandardized test scores from their previous school todetermine if they have at least a 4 stanine or higher inboth reading/language arts and mathematics.

Once enrolled in the program, students must attend allclasses regularly, maintain a minimum unweightedGPA of 2.0 in 9th grade, 2.3 in 10th grade and 2.5 in11th and 12th grades as well as abide by the Code ofStudent Conduct. Falling below these expectationsmay result in placement on probation and/or dismissalfrom the program.
