The cultural relationship between Romanians and Polish began in the 15th century, when few Moldavian boyars went to study in Krakow. It was partly due to the

historical studies of the young Romanian students in Poland that the Latin origin of the Romanian language was rediscovered in the Renaissance.

Over the years, the Polish interest on the Romanian language and culture increased as well, so in 1921, the first Romanian lectureship was established in Krakow. At this moment, there are three Romanian lectureships, at the Universities of Warsaw, Poznań and Krakow, functioning with the consistent help of the Romanian Cultural Institute. The interest on the Romanian culture is shown by the academic activities, such as exhibitions, Romanian cultural nights, the “Harap-Alb” magazine in Poznań or “The Romanian-Polish Association of Krakow”.

The cooperation between Poland and Romania in the interwar period was very intense. On the one hand, it was an attempt to defend Central Europe against the expansion of Russia and Germany, but on the other, in a broader sense, particularly in the 1930s, it was also the defence of

European civilisation against the spread of two totalitarian systems.

The Romanian government also received the treasury of the National Bank of Poland in 1939. One part of it, consisting of

1,261 crates containing 82,403 kg of gold, was loaded aboard a commercial ship in the port of Constanța, and transported

to Western Europe. The transport was escorted by ships from the Romanian Navy, in order to prevent an interception by

Soviet submarines in the Black Sea. The second part of the treasury was deposited in the Romanian National Bank. It was returned to

Poland on 17 September 1947.

Romania, like Spain was a part of the Roman Empire for about three centuries as a province named "Dacia". And like in those other countries, they colonized it by

giving away land to citizens from all over the Roman empires, most of them former legionaries. The Vulgar Roman dialects they spoke romanized the remaining native Dacian population and gave rise to another Romance language. The debate is now between scientists if the contemporary Romanian population descends mainly or

partly from this Romanized population.

Why is Romanian very similar to Spanish

Romanian is related to all Romance languages cause all of them derived from vulgar Latin; Romanian is closer to Latin than Spanish and almost any other Romance language because of the isolation.Unlike the other Romance language speaking

countries that are very close geographically to each other, Romania is in the East(only big Eastern Romance language) surrounded by Slavic countries like Bulgaria, Ukraine and Serbia and a Finno-Ugric one (Hungary); this helped preserve the original Latin influences even though we do have some words of Slavic origins. The only historical connection between Romania and Spain is a linguistic one; both were provinces of the

Roman Empire. Also, Romanian sounds very different from the other Romance languages; if you hear it you tend to think that it's a Slavic one (well known

stereotypical Dracula accent) cause of the influence of Slavs.
