We are a volunteer-led, not-for-profit charitable society in the heart of “old” Port Moody. We pride ourselves in recruiting professional artists and musicians as our instructors, so that your learning experience is as rewarding as possible.

Here are a few highlights from Winter/Spring 2014/2015…• Music in the Morning – a new music-oriented play session for infants age 0 – 2 years.• Michael Cham, our resident guitar instructor, is offering several special Guitar Workshops. • Kimberly Blackstock is back with a new class called Modern Arts for the Modern Child (6 –12 years) and we have special offerings for Home School kids. • Seniors’ Theatre in the morning is back!• And, Mark Anthony will continue to amaze us with his exquisite Classical Drawing classes.

How You Can Register:Online at pomoarts.ca. Click on the “Program Information & Registration’” button where you will find information about each class including detailed course outlines, material lists, pictures, and more.

All programs are located at the Port Moody Arts Centre unless indicated otherwise

Prices include all applicable taxes and the registration fee.

Memberships pay for themselves! All prices include the $5.51 per person registration fee. This fee is waived for Arts Centre members. Annual memberships are $21 for individuals and $36.75 for families.

The Port Moody Arts Centre reserves the right to correct, at any time, any pricing errors and to refuse to complete a sale that is the subject of a pricing error.

Refund PolicyIf we cancel: We encourage participants to register early for Arts Centre programs to ensure minimum class numbers are reached; however, programs that do not meet the minimum number of registrants may be cancelled. Cancellation decisions are usually made 4-5 calendar days before the start date. If we cancel, we will refund 100% of your payment. 

If you cancel: Sessional Classes:  Full refunds up to 4 calendar days before class starts. After that date, and including the first class, a 75% credit of the class fee only will be applied towards a future PMAC class. No refunds after the second class. There will be no refund given on registration fees, supply fees, or membership fees.Camp Programs:  Full refunds or transfers will be granted up to 5 calendar days before the first class.  Within 4 days, no refunds will be issued. No refunds granted for classes missed by students. Private Music Programs:  Please contact our front desk staff at 604.931.2008 for information.Workshops:  Full refunds up to 5 calendar days before the workshop starts. No refunds if cancelled within 4 days.

In the first week’s class we build and decorate our creations. SPRING BREAK CAMPS (6-17 yrs)

*Full day camp includes a supervised lunch hour at the park (weather permitting). If two classes are combined children may join us for the supervised lunch hour at the park. All participants must bring lunch, hat, and sunscreen and must be toilet trained.

*After-camp care available from 3:00-5:30pm, payable prior to the start the start of each class for $10.00 per day, including tax.

LegoMation (8-13 yrs) with Mike Schoenhals and Team LMMS NewMon-Fri Mar 9-Mar 13 9:00am-3:00pm 5 classes $215.51Animate Lego through the process of stop motion capture. Students write, storyboard, animate and edit their own animated short film. Working with a partner, a story is developed and animated; visual effects, voice-overs and music are then added. On the final day, all productions are shown in a gala event for parents, friends and siblings. Each participant leaves with a set of Lego of their choice and a camp DVD with all of their productions on it. Students may bring their own laptops. Software provided.

LegoMation Advance (10-13 yrs) with Mike Schoenhals and Team LMAD NewMon-Fri Mar 9-Mar 13 9:00am-3:00pm 5 classes $235.51This is a chance for previous LegoMation Camp participants to take their filmmaking to the next level. Each participant will use DV Cameras for animation capturing, After Effects for visual effects and composition, Adobe Premiere for editing, advanced visual storytelling and more! The advanced group will also receive larger sets of Lego to use for their production and to take home at the end of the camp. Participants must have attended a minimum of one previous LegoMation Classic Camp and be at least 10 years old. Students may bring their own laptop. Software provided.

Pottery Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding in the Morning Youth (11-17 yrs) with Clive Tucker YTHPOMon-Fri Mar 9-Mar 13 9:30am-12:00pm 5 classes $166.42 Mon-Fri Mar 16-Mar 20 9:30am-12:00pm 5 classes $166.42 Students will make their own vessels and sculptures in this hands-on class with experienced potter, Clive Tucker. There are two mornings of creating pottery using tools and by hand, followed by two mornings of using the potter’s wheel. The last day is dedicated to glazing and decorating your work. Piano and Theory with Sylvia MaltbyIndividual piano lessons and individual or group lessons in theory, harmony, music history, counterpoint and form and analysis.Sylvia Maltby, BMus., MA (Musicology), RMT, was well established as a private instructor, accompanist, theatre musician and soloist in the Edmonton area before relocating to Port Moody several years ago. She instructs piano lessons to all ages; from beginner to accomplished performer, in jazz and classical styles. Sylvia also teaches advanced theoretical subjects for Royal Conservatory and Conservatory Canada examinations.

He holds a Masters of Music and has won the gold medal at the international “Foyer Des Artistes”. Learn to play violin or advance your current skills. All levels are welcome!Classical and Suzuki methods are available as well as a large variety of styles from folk, fiddle to pop. Participants bring their own violin to class.

Voice with Leanne KochLeanne holds a BMus and MMus from UBC in voice and opera performance. Having taught for more than 10 years, she is a member of the BCRMTA and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has further training in teaching and singing Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) from Shenandoah University where she completed Somatic Voicework – the Lo Vetri Method™ Levels I-III, and courses for Voice and Movement, Gospel Singing, and Working with Injured Voices.

Piano and Theory with Sathia AruliahSathia studied piano, organ and harpsichord at the Trinity College of Music, London. She holds their highest diploma, a Fellowship in Harpsichord Performance and studied at UBC to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Music.
