After the service a reception followed whereby the guests were asked to bring a plate of food to share instead of a wedding gift. RIDE FOR SICK KIDS

“Ride for Sick Kids” raises funds for the Ronald McDonald House Adelaide. Ronald McDonald House is an independent not-for-profit organisation that provides practical assistance to families whose children are receiving treatment at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The House provides accommodation and support to the families who live more than 100 km from metropolitan Adelaide. Staying at the house helps families by reducing the financial burden of travelling to Adelaide with their children for treatment and gives them immediate access to support network. The House relies upon community support in order to provide these services. This year 35 participants commenced the 1000 kilometre ride from Port Lincoln on Sunday 18th November and arrived at Mawson Lakes on Saturday day 24th November raising more than $250,000 along the 1000 kilometre ride.(Channel Nine News 24th November 2018)The riders are fully supported by on road crew including bike mechanics, first aid and massage. Accommodation and meals are provided to

ensure the riders are well looked after.

Participants in the fund raising bike ride, “Ride for Sick Kids SA” leave the Port Wakefield swimming lagoon/picnic area after a short break and head off to Clare. From Clare they will then ride to Mawson Lakes to end the ride.

We’re Sad The Newsletter typists are

sad and frustrated that members

of the community are not contributing NEWS to the

newsletter. This lack of information has led to newsletters with very little content and the typists wear the brunt of community negative comments. News information is included free of charge. We print notices and advertisements for community groups and would love to have follow up photos and information for inclusion in the newsletter for the whole community to enjoy. Sporting Clubs why not use the newsletter to advertise events, provide competition results, and provide photos and information to share with the community. Families often celebrate birthdays, anniversaries etc. Why not share your photos and celebration with the community through the newsletter. Let’s work together to improve our newsletter by including community information from all areas of the community. Email your news to [email protected]

Or Text your news to: 0409 286 177

Local Identity talks at Balaklava CWA

Joan Ramsay presents Susie with a gift after the talk.

Susie Pain was recently invited to talk to the ladies at Balaklava CWA. CWA latest theme is ‘Ireland’ and as Susie was born and raised in Ireland she was invited to talk about her life there. After a brief introduction the CWA ladies asked many questions about family life, living conditions compared to Australia, education comparisons and travel etc. All enjoyed a supper and chat after the discussion.
