4 February 2011 – 3 April 2011The Governor: Lachlan Macquarie 1810 to 1821 celebrates the 200th anniversary of Lachlan Macquarie’s governorship of New South Wales. His vision was to transform a colony from a penal outpost to a prosperous British settlement. Drawn from the State Library of NSW’s internationally renowned Macquarie collection, this exhibition explores his personality, family, life and relationships with prominent people. On display are personal letters, journals, maps, paintings and objects, that tell the story of his contribution to colonial Australia.

4 February 2011 – 3 April 2011Garden of Forking Paths draws together notable historic and contemporary computer games created by artists that push the bounds of the genre and break orthodox rules. Spanning the last three decades—from Jaron Lanier’s 1983 Commodore64 game ‘Moondust’ through to Tale-of-Tales 2009 release ‘The Path’—a period which has seen incredible advances in technology and the birth of the Information Age. All of the pieces in the show can be played by visitors.

Spooky Glasshouse Ghost Tours 6pm until 7pm (for children aged 5-9 and their parents)Children and parents will enjoy this spooky tour as ghost stories are bought to life on this evening Glasshouse tour. Kids will hear ghost stories and are invited to share their own as they make their way through the Glasshouse.
Play a part in an amazing story! 10am-12pm (ages 6-9)Children will take a step back in time to Australian ‘olden’ days, bringing to life the characters and stories from our vibrant history through games and play building. This drama workshop is held in association with Heritage Week.
Glass Painting 10am-12pm (ages 6-9), 1.30pm-3.30pm (ages 10-13)Inspired by stained and coloured glass windows, children will design and create unique glass objects to take home using stunning
luminous glass paints.
Fun with Fossils 10am-12pm (ages 6-9), 1.30pm-3.30pm (ages 10-13)Science & art collide in this fun workshop where children discover the interesting world of fossils. Children will discover how they are
formed and create a look-alike fossil to take home.
Painting with Sand 10am-12pm (ages 6-9), 1.30pm-3.30pm (ages 10-13)Children will explore and experiment with the unusual texture of sand and acrylic paints to create colourful and textured artworks on canvas board.
Inspiring Words of Art 10am-12pm (ages 6-9), 1.30pm-3.30pm (ages 10-13)Using mixed media, collage and paints, children will be inspired by quotes about friendship to create a colourful wall-hanging. Bring your own quote or use one provided. A great workshop for friends!
Tie Dyed T-shirts 10am-12pm (ages 6-9), 1.30pm-3.30pm (ages 10-13)Step back to the 60s! Kids will explore the process of tie-dying and create some funky t-shirts in this fun workshop. Bring along a cotton t-shirt or other cotton items that need a whole new groovy look and feel!
Drama Workshop 1.30pm-3.30pm (ages 6-9)Explore lively, funny Australian characters as we dive into the adventures of the past. Children will have dramatic fun through games, script work and play building activities.

TERmS aND CONDITIONS y Children are encouraged to bring a smock or an old T-shirt to prevent damage to clothing. y All workshops run for two hours, unless otherwise stated. y Enrolments must be completed before the class is scheduled to begin and must be accompanied
by payment. Places will be allocated in order of receipt of enrolment form and payment. y Children and/or their artwork may be photographed during the workshop and these photographs
may appear in Glasshouse promotional materials. No compensation will be extended for such use. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, please advise us in writing with registration.
y There is a maximum number of students for each class. y There is a minimum and maximum age for each workshop, which must be adhered to. y There is a minimum number of participants for each class. The Glasshouse reserves the right to
cancel any course due to insufficient numbers or due to unforeseen circumstances. In this event, a refund will be given.
y If you cancel a booking one week prior to the workshop, you will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations received within the last week will not be issued a refund.
y Parent/carers/other authorised person must accompany children to and from the workshop and sign them in and out. Children will not be allowed to leave the building without a supervisory adult signing them out.
y Children must be collected promptly at the finishing time of each workshop. Should there be any delays in collecting your children due to an emergency, you must advise Glasshouse Customer Service on (02) 6581 8888 for the message to be relayed to the tutor.
y Glasshouse does not accept responsibility for any personal property brought to the workshop. y No food is permitted in the workshop. Drink bottles are permitted, but must be clearly marked
with child’s name.

aBOUT OUR TUTORS
CATHErINE “CJ” GrOOTENBOErCJ has been a drama teacher and theatre practitioner for over 10 years in Sydney and the Hastings. She has extensive experience in drama education, directing, production design and stage management.
luCY pASCAlEAn accredited artist with a Diploma of Fine Art, Lucy specialises in workshops for children and adults in fine art, pastels, oils and watercolour. She regularly directs youth arts projects within the Hastings community.
JANE WHITFIElDAn artist and arts educator, Jane has a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in painting and printmaking. She has conducted workshops for adults and children throughout the mid-north coast, including gifted and talented and after-school programs.
BruCE THOMpSONBruce Thompson has been working in the entertainment industry for 20 years as an actor, stuntman, stand-up comedian, MC and ‘Ghost Host’ for the Rocks Ghost tours. He now owns and operates Port by Night Tours taking locals & tourists for spooky walks on ‘the dark side’ of Port Macquarie. Bruce is
decended from a First Fleet convict & has a passion for history.
