Now, Café Lucia is presenting a Fado Night event on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., at our very own Raven Theater. This is part of “Portuguese Wine Country Weekend” which includes Portuguese folk dancing at Raymond Burr Winery on Saturday. Fado (meaning “Fate” in Portuguese) is the national song style of Portugal and is loosely described as Portuguese Blues or Portuguese soul music. Fado Nights are very popular in the larger cities in Portugal. If you have traveled to Portugal or dined at Café Lucia, you have heard Fado music. Lucia Azevedo Fincher, who co-owns Café Lucia with her brother, Chef Manuel Azevedo, has lived in Healds- burg for the past 20 years. Lucia has always been pas- sionate about enrichment in schools, focusing primarily on fundraising during her many years as a PTO volun- teer. Holding a community event that benefits music enrichment through HEF is a way for Lucia to give back in a different capacity. Fado Night is an opportunity for the community to learn about the Portuguese culture while supporting lo- cal children’s music programs. Bring the entire family.
