Meeting InformationTarget AudienceThis activity is intended for osteopathic surgeons in the field of orthope-dics, orthopedic residents, allied health and any physician interested in the practice of orthopedics.

Overall Conference ObjectivesThe goal of this year’s program is to provide orthopedic surgeons with an update on current techniques and controversies in orthopedics. Leaders in the field will debate and discuss selected topics so that practicing orthope-dists will have knowledge to further develop their skills.Upon completion of this conference, participants will have learned:• To be more familiar with current techniques and controversies in ortho-

pedics;• To better understand the indications, techniques, complications

and outcomes of various surgical procedures within their specialty.

Goals of the ConferenceThrough lectures, panels, case discussions, question/answer sessions and technical exhibits, the goals of this conference are:• To offer a diversified program of continuing education

for practicing orthopedic surgeons;• To keep orthopedic surgeons and other interested phy-

sicians and health care professionals informed of recent developments, techniques and advances in orthopedics.

Statement of NeedResponses from our prior conferences identify the need for a greater understanding of specific aspects of orthopedic surgery within the specialties of Shoulder and Elbow, Trauma, Hand, Sports, Pediatrics, Spine and Adult Reconstructive and Arthritis. In addition, sessions have been added to address issues that affect the physician’s daily practice.

AOA CME CreditsThe AOAO anticipates being approved by the AOA Council on Continuing Medical Education for a maximum of 18 AOA Category 1-A CME credit hours and one AOA Category 1-A CME credit for the MTP Joint Hemiar-throplasty Cadaver Lab.

In order to create the best possible learning environment and afford each participant maximum hands-on time, workshop sizes are limited to 20 participants.

Target AudienceThis activity is intended for osteopathic surgeons in the field of orthope-dics, orthopedic residents, or any physician interested in the practice of orthopedics.

Workshop Overview and Educational ObjectivesUsing surgical demonstrations and hands-on experience, surgical ap-proaches will be reviewed and practiced in detail in a hands-on educational environment. Specific training will be dedicated to surgical exposures of

the foot, as well as proper techniques for use of the equipment. The lab will be instructed and moderated by experienced osteopathic orthopedic faculty currently using these devices and techniques in their practices. Industry representatives will also be on-site to answer technical questions related to their specific instrumentation and equipment. Ample time will be allowed for questions and interaction with workshop faculty.

Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to perform surgical approaches to the foot to address orthopedic pathology using cur-rent techniques and devices.

Statement of NeedRecent advances in devices and surgical approaches to use these devices make it necessary for the practicing orthopedic surgeon be efficient and knowledgeable in the performance of reconstructive procedures in the foot.
