Description of the cable construction
Conductor mostly use compact circular structure. For if copper conduct normal cross-section is in
range of 800 mm2 and above, and the Aluminiun conductor in the range of 1000mm2 and above the
structure should be Milliken conductor. We can achive the conductor longitudinal water-blocking
request.
Conductor screen is formed by wrapped semi-conducting tapes and semi-conducting layer.
Super-clean XLPE insulated materials shall be extruded on the screen of conductor.
Outer screen is made up of super-smooth cross-linked screen material extruded on the insulation.
Products in all types and size have longitudinal water-blocking layers which is made up of semi-
conducting water-blocking cushion tape wrapped between outer screen and radial water-blocking
layer
Metal screen adopts Cu wire winded sparsely and Cu tape wrapped. The nominal cross-section area of
the wire is 95 mm2, different cross-section area can be designed for various application means.
Aluminiun-plastic tape or corrugated aluminiun sheath can be taken as radial water-resistant layer.
Corrugated aluminiun sheath can be also taken as the metal screen layer.
Over sheaths shall be extruded PVC or PE, extruded or coated semiconductive layer on the surface.

Uni-tube loose sheath structure can allow optical fiber excess length, thus increase the strain window
to increase its tensile strength;
The uni-tube is filled with dedicated ointment, which can effectively avoid the occurrence of the
optic-fiber hydrogen loss, and not only can reduce the optical fiber cable's attenuation coefficient, but
also can increase its service life;
The flat structure with middle low and on both sides high can let the external pressure applied mainly
on the reinforcement pieces so as to improve the ability of cable resistance to lateral pressure;
Flat structure makes the optical cable more closely around the line core of the power cable , and can
effectively avoid the optical fiber fracture caused by too much optical fiber tension during the process
of cable bending;
Non-magnetic materials are adopted for reinforcement pieces, which can effectively avoid the electro-
magnetic interference generated.
The production of embedded optical electro-composite structure can avoid second laying of the
optical fiber cable, reducing the cost of the project.

Both ends of metal screen shall be bonded and grounded, in that case,
there is circulating current passing through the metal screen. It will
reduce the current rating of cable.
Grounding after the metal screen have been bonded at one end of the
cable. In that case, there is inductive voltage between metal screen and
ground, but no circulating current passing through. The inductive voltage
shall be in direct proportion to the length of the cable, so this grounding
method shall be only used in the line not too long.
Grounding after the two ends of metal screen have been bonded, and a
insulation splice housing shall be used in which the metal screens are
cross-bonded. In that case, there is no circulating current passing through
the metal screen, and no inductive voltage to ground at both ends of the
cable. But there is inductive voltage in the central part of the cable, and at
the positions of cross-bonding the value shall be the highest.

V. Inspection Program on Site for Optical Fiber Cable
VI. Cable Leads and Successive Program
Before and after the laying of the cable, the attenuation value of the optical fiber should be measured with
OTDR and the measured value should be within the standard range. In the cable laying process, if you encoun-
ter difficulties or severe abnormalities, it is better to stop, and monitor online the optical fiber attenuation.
Note: To test your fibre, you should first carefully open the cable outer sheath, and take out the optical cables
reserved in the cable head. If you cut the cable away from the cable head, you should carefully open the outer
sheath, locate the cable, and cut the cable with pliers first; do not cut the cable directly with a saw to avoid
the cable force. At the same time, when doing joint, sufficient cable length should be set aside.Anti-pressure: >1000N/100mmTemperature scope: -30℃~110℃min.bending radins: 30mm
1. Optical fiber cable installation steps at the cable terminal:
1.1 Open the cable outer sheath and aluminum creasing outer jacket cover, remove the cable ( cable head
approximately set aside 3 m, this cable completely retained). In the process of opening, do not damage the
fiber,and measure the fiber attenuation.
1.2 Cable terminal copper shell should have a cable exit, and lead directly the cable out and seal the cable;
1.3 Turn the optical fibers, which are at the terminal head close to the cable, one circle around the core, and
put them into the bending copper pipe, and protect the fibers with a hard plastic sleeve, and lead them into
the fiber optic terminal box.
1.4 Put the redundant fibers into the (terminal) box for connecting tail fibers.
1.5 For terminal processing, ensure the copper pipe stretching into the cable seal and insulated.

2.1 Laying type ( optical fiber connector placed within the copper shell)
2.1.1 Strip off both ends of the cable about 1.5m, while keeping fiber intact without damage, and
measure the fiber attenuation.
2.1.2 Before connecting the optical fiber, it should be wound on the middle connector, then carry on the
optical fiber fusion.
2.1.3 One end of the optical fiber should be pre-set a heat shrinkable tube or rubber tube. After being
connected, the hot-melt tube and the stripped part of the optical fiber cable should be extended into the
heat shrinkable tube or the rubber tube; both ends of the tube should be wrapped with "self-adhesive
tape" to prevent water, while ensuring the heat shrinkable tube or rubber tube free from bending force.
2.1.4 After being wrapped, it should be fastened with tape to prevent them from moving slip. then shell
the cable connector and optical fibe connector for protection.
2.2 External-laying (fiber optic connector placed outside the copper shell)
Strip off both ends of the cable about 1.5m, while keeping fiber intact without damage, the optical fiber
installation the same way as describes in 1.
4. Optical Fiber Connecting
At first, all the protective layer of the cable should be stripped off, exposing the fiber loose tube about 50
cm, one of the optical fiber should be pre-set with a heat shrinkable tube for later use; check the continued
identification, remove 4 ~ 6 cm of coating layer at the end of the optical fiber; then cut the optical fiber with
a fiber cutter, and place the optical fiber into the V-shaped groove of the welding machine, push the weld-
ing button for automatic welding.
5. Quality Check
After the optical fiber being welded, observe immediately the shape of the connecting position and the
splice loss values through the display. At this time, measure the attenuation of the connected line with
OTDR to ensure the value within the standard range.
6. Joint Protection
As the optical fiber joints are in bare state, after being welded, the joints should be immidiately heat-
shrinkable protected.
7. Remaining Fiber Accepting
Being connected, the remaining 60 ~ 80 cm of fiber, in accordance with the regulations, should be coiled
on disk with fixed radius and the joints should be fixed within the positioning slots. the optical fiber joints
should be marked or numbered in sequence.
VII. Waterproofing and Protection
Temperature measurement system should be installed behind the installation of the cable. All connection
and protection of the optical fiber cable should be same as ” Cable Leads and Successive Program”, but
the installation ends of the temperature measurement system need to be set aside and prepared with
protective measures. Leave a joint allowance, and coil the cable according to the specified bending radius,
and fix it with adhesive tape in a stable place. At the same time, add warning labels to prevent external
damage; cable ends should be treated with heat shrinkable seal and waterproofing.

3.1 Optical Fiber Preparation
The optical fiber cable preparation includes checking the structure of the cable, fiber length and attenua-
tion measurements. On each side of the connection area, set aside 3 ~ 5 m cable, which could be properly
adjusted according to site need.
3.2 Joint Box Installation
Secure the cable on the bracket of the joint box, and according to the design requirements, carry out
connecting and disconnecting treatment of the strengthening components.
