How to power down and power up your Octel 250 and Octel 350 systems =================================================================== The proper procedure for shutting down an Octel 250 or 350 is as follows: 1)Access the system manager terminal and login. 2)Enter menu 13, submenu 1. Two options are available: Enter a 1 to "allow lines to clear". This would be the preferred/graceful method . Enter a 2 to "shutdown immediately". This method would interrupt any subscribers currently in a session. When the system reboots, and stops at the "Enter Boot Command" prompt, the power switch can be shut off. Power Up procedure: =================== Turn on the power switch. Watch the system manager terminal, and when the "Enter Boot Command" prompt is d isplayed, enter an "A", for Autoboot. ================================================================================ == If and when you need to boot or reboot your Octel system (You should not have to reboot your system) you will go to menu 13 and sub menu 1. Once you use this utility to shut the system down it will not boot on it s own you will need to enter a boot command. The system will shut down and finally get t o a prompt that states enter boot command. At this point you can turn the power off to the unit. Or you can enter the letter A and the system will boot into a r unning state. If you power the unit off and then back on it will come up to the enter boot command prompt and you will enter A for auto boot. This means that id the power is lost and then restored it the system will boot on it s own to a ru nning state. Bottom line is if it is setting at an enter boot command just enter A and it wil l boot unless there is a hardware problem
