This session will outline the multiple avenues Carolinas Healthcare System has pursued to address the ever increasing out of pocket expenses facing patients as a result of the industry movement to high deductible health plans. Chris will provide an overview of the patient financial experience at CHS from pre-service through final account resolution including the statement redesign process, partnership with Family Advisory Councils, development of the Unified Business Office with a centralized call-center to process patient calls for the Hospital and Professional legacy billing systems as CHS migrates to Epic. Chris will also review processes currently used by CHS to expedite the financial assistance approval process as well as an overview of the account segmentation logic and long term payment options provided to patients.
