Religion this week:

In your religion book, which I’m pretty sure you all have at home, can you please read pages 82, 83 and 84. These pages look at Theme 10: Reconciliation and this week I want you to focus on Lesson 1: God Forgives Us.

Activity: Please write out the ‘Prayer for Forgiveness’ on pg 107. Try write out the prayer nicely and you can decorate around it with your colours and give the prayer a colourful heading ‘Prayer for Forgiveness’.

This week for history we’ll be learning about ‘Caring for the Sick’ and studying some people from the past that helped to care for the sick. The brave frontline workers in Ireland are helping to care for those affected by the Covid 19 Coronavirus and one day they will appear in the history books of the future.

Today I just want you to go to page 88 of your Small World History Book and read pg 88. Study the timeline on the left side of the page and read about ‘Ancient Greece’ and ‘A Good Doctor’ (Hippocrates).

She helped greatly in caring for the poor and sick people of Dublin in the 1800’s and her legacy lives on. You’ll also learn about the disease cholera, which struck Dublin in 1832. Make sure you read the ‘Hot History’ which explains what the ‘tenements’ were.

Answer the following question having learned about Catherine McAuley and the Mercy Sisters. You answer should be around 5 to 6 sentences long.

RESEARCH Today I want you to do some research for a one to two page project that I will be putting in Monday’s work next week.

When researching please write small notes/ print info and pictures if you have access to a printer. You can draw your pictures if you can’t print. Just gather as much info as you can today and keep it in a safe place for Monday.

I want you research a famous person in medicine that we have not already learned about.

Here are some names that you could use: Claudius Galen, Andreas Vesalius, William Harvey, Elizabeth Blackwell, Louis Pasteur, Joseph Lister, Christian Barnard.

Or you can find your own famous person in medicine to research. It can be someone who is around now or someone from the past.
