Time to Score1 Julia sat on her bed and tied her shoelaces. She took a deep breath. After two days

of practicing, she was about to play her first basketball game. She hoped she would

remember everything she had learned at school and at basketball camp. She did not want

    to disappoint her team.

2 Julia, are you almost ready? shouted Mr. Hernndez from the hall. Its time to

go. You cant be late for your very first game.

3 Yes, Dad, she yelled back. She took one more look in the mirror and smiled. Her

new team shirt had her last name on the back and her number, 15, on both sides. With her

bright white socks and her brand new shoes, she certainly looked like a basketball player!

Now, if her team scores more points than the other team, she might come back home with

    her first victory!
