    RECOMMENDATIONSThis chapter deals on the summary of findings,

    conclusions drawn and recommendations.

    Summary of the StudyThe major objective of this study was to

    describe and assess the Junior Fire Marshal of the

    Bureau of Fire Protection as implemented atBlessed Mary Academy in the lone district of

    Dasmarias City during the School year 2011-

    2012.

    Specifically, the study sought to answer the following

    Null Hypothesis

    A null hypothesis was formulated to test problem number three,to wit:

    There is no significant difference in the perceptions of the twogroups of respondents regarding the Junior Fire Marshal Project interms of the following:

    1.1 Mission/ Objectives;

    1.2 Junior Fire Marshal Project Teachers and their Qualifications;1.3 Instructional Methods and strategies used;

    1.4 Instructional Materials and Equipment; and

    1.5 Extent of Assistance given by principal/administrator?

    Findings of Study

    1. On the Status of Junior Fire Marshal Project at Blessed Mary Academyin Dasmarias City

    1.1 In Terms of Mission/Objectives

    The mission/objectives of Junior Fire Marshal Project are the following:

    1. To compensate for the deficiency of the BFP in terms of firefighting

    and apparatus, in order to intensify measures in fire prevention.

    2. To inculcate fire safety practices among the youth through the

    full supports/assistance of the Department of Education.

    3. To integrate in the existing high school curriculum

    1.2 In Terms of Junior Fire Marshal Project

    Teachers and their qualifications.

    In the Blessed Mary Academy, DasmarinasCitythere are, ten (10) teachers Junior Fire Marshal

    Project Teachers who possess the following

    educational to wit:

    Ten (10) or 100 percent are Bachelors degreeholders in education. The average number of years in

    teaching Junior Fire Marshal Project ranges from

    three years to five years. The age level ranges from

    21 to 25 years, six are still singles and four are

    married. All are LET passers.

    1.3 Instructional Methods and Strategies

    The Junior Fire Marshal Project teacheremphasizes the use of the old proven methods andstrategies such as the following;

    1. Discussion. Defined as a method ofteaching whereby a teacher can and the learner

    together engage in a cooperative examination ofviews in order to clarify issues and contribute to thelearners understanding.

    2. Lecture. Is referred at as times asteaching by telling.This method involve more than

    just telling. It a teaching procedure of clarifying orexplaining a major ideas cast in the form of aquestions or a problem ( Salandanan, Santos, Diaz,1996).

    3. Demonstration. This method is referred to as showinghow in an organized way, for as implied, it focuses on theprocess of doing something or the procedure in producingsomething (result demonstration) because the showing isoftentimes accompanied by explanation.

    4. Drill or Review. A teaching activity essential forhabit formation and mastery of lesson. Teaching is good whendrill or review is made an integral part of the teaching process(Busto, Arellano, 1999).

    5. Role Playing. Consist of an enactment of a learningsituation through which they depict real life responses andbehavior. Through this teaching strategy students are able toexpress their intimate feelings, problems and approvedsolutions. It makes use events, know personalities andcurrent activities presented in a dramatic way (Salandanan,Gloria,1999).

    However, introduction of teaching modules andlearning videos were utilized through thecourtesy/compliments of the local Bureau of Fire protection.

    1.4 On Instructional Materials and Equipment

    The Junior Fire Marshal Teachers make use of

    teaching modules, and learning videos made availableby the local Bureau of Fire Protection. The visual aids

    like pictures, reading materials, magazine and others

    related to fire prevention are found in the classroom.

    1.5 On the support System

    The support system refers to the extent of

    assistance given by school principal. In this regard,the primer on the Basic Education Curriculumelucidates:

    The efficient and effective implementation ofthe curriculum depends a great deal on the support

    system that is provided to the schools. Teachers whoimplement the curriculum should train; materials,equipment, and facilities should be made available.Enabling policies and administrative support shouldbe provided the work of the teacher. Where fundsare inadequate, the support to the local governmentunit must be secured to augment existing resources.

    1.5 On the support System

    With these guidelines, it is imperative that

    those belonging to the top hierarchy, the principaland administrator should lead the way in providingsupport and assistance to the teachers, inparticular, to the Junior Fire Marshal Project

    teachers who are subject/respondents of thisstudy.

    In connection with teachers trainings,instructional materials, equipment and facilities

    made available at Blessed Mary AcademyDasmarias City, as per observations undertakenby the researcher and his interviews with therespondents of this study.

    2. Perceptions of Respondent Teachers andStudents at Blessed Mary Academy inDasmarias City:

    The Junior Fire Marshal Project at BlessedMary Academy in Dasmarias City was assessed bythe Junior Fire Marshal Project teachers andsecondary level students in terms of:

    2.1 Accomplishment of Mission/ Objectives

    Teacher respondents perceived on themission/objectives of Junior Fire Marshal Projectagreed to a certain extent as evidenced by thecomputed average weighted mean of 4.36.

    On the other hand, the student respondentsperceived on the mission/objectives of Junior FireMarshal Project is agreed to a certain extent asevidenced by the computed average weighted mean

    of 4.15.

    2.2 Junior Fire Marshal Project Teachers and theirqualifications

    Both respondents agreed on the qualifications of

    the teachers of Blessed Mary Academy with regards tothe teaching of Junior Fire Marshal Project as evidencedby the computed average weighted mean of 4.50 forteacher and with the average weighted mean of 4.02 for

    student respondents.2.3 Teaching Methods and Strategies Used

    Both teacher and student respondentsperceived the use of instructional methods and strategies

    for Junior Fire Marshal Project agreed to a certain extentas evidenced by their computed average weighted meanof 4.30 for teacher and average weighted mean of 4.06for student respondents.

    2.4 On adequacy of Instructional MaterialsUsed

    Both groups of respondents agreed to acertain extent on the items describing thestatus of instructional materials and equipmentsuch as: (1) the use of instructional materials(modules) (2) the use of instructional materialssuch as pictures and visual aids (3) the use oflearning videos and (4) the use of instructional

    equipment (computers) as evidenced by thecomputed average weighted mean of 4.10 forteacher respondent and with 3.96 averageweighted mean for student respondents.

    2.5 On the Extent of Assistance Given by principal

    Both groups of respondents agreed to a certain

    extent on the items describing the extent of assistancegiven by principal to Junior Fire Marshal Project teachers,

    specifically, (1) on the adequacy of basic instructional

    materials like visual adequacy of basic instructional

    materials like visual aids, pictures and modules (2) on theadequacy of facilities and equipment provided and (3) in-

    service training in fire prevention given to teachers. These

    three items obtained the average weighted mean of 4.30

    for teacher respondents and with 4.02 average weighted

    mean for student respondents which means they agree to a

    certain extent.

    3. Result of the t-Test of Difference in the perceptions ofthe respondents regarding the Junior Fire MarshalProject at the Blessed Mary Academy in the lone district

    of Dasmarias CityResult of the t-test significant difference between

    the perceptions of the two groups of respondentsrevealed no significant difference in their perceptions asto how Junior Fire Marshal Project is implemented atBlessed Mary Academy based on the variables testedsuch as mission/objectives, teachers and theirqualifications, instructional methods and strategies used,instructional materials and equipment and extent

    assistance given by the principal where the overall t-value was 0.25 as compared with 1.98 critical value with108 degrees of freedom at 0.05 level of significance.

    Thus, the null hypothesis was accepted.

    4. Problems Encountered of the Junior Fire MarshalProject at the Blessed Mary Academy in the lonedistrict of Dasmarias

    Both respondents listed the followingproblems encountered

    1. Lack of guidelines and directive comingfrom

    the hierarchy of Department of Education.

    2. Lack of incentives to motivate them to carryon project.

    3. No implementing rules and regulation of the

    project.

    The following were the suggestions offered bythe two groups of respondents to help solve theproblems encountered.

    As offered by the Teachers

    1. Clarity in the program, what it wants toachieve.

    2. Provide Implementing Rules and Regulations.

    3. Provide guidelines and directive coming from

    the hierarchy of Department of Education.4. Have better coordination in conducting

    activities for the said project.

    1. Create more discussions regarding

    Conclusions

    Based on the findings of the study, the following

    conclusions were drawn:1. Junior Fire Marshal Project at Blessed Mary Academyis effective as it was implemented in the school.2. Both groups, namely the teachers and students assedthe Junior Fire Marshal Project at Blessed Mary Academyagreed to a certain extent.

    3. The implementers of Junior Fire Marshal Project shouldcontinue enhancing their professional growth andexpertise regarding fire safety and prevention throughattending seminars/trainings in the Fire SafetyEnforcement Section of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

    4. The problems indicate to identify areas that needclassification to stakeholders.

    5. There is still room for improvement by definingguidelines and authentic to make it clearer to the

    stakeholder.

    RecommendationsIn the light of the findings of the study and conclusions reached, the following

    recommendations are forwarded:

    1. Government should appropriate funds intended for Junior

    Fire Marshal Project.2. Full implementation with full attention from support system.

    3. The implementers of Junior Fire Marshal Project should

    continue enhancing their professional growth and expertise

    regarding fire safety and prevention through attending moreseminars/trainings in the Fire Safety Enforcement Section of the

    local Bureau of Fire Protection.

    4. Modules and learning videos should be provided for easy

    implementation to all concerned.

    5. More close supervision in line with administrative supportshould be provided.

    Recommendations

    In the light of the findings of the study and conclusions

    reached, the following recommendations are forwarded:

    1. Government should appropriate funds intendedfor Junior Fire Marshal Project.

    2. Full implementation with full attention from supportsystem.

    3. The implementers of Junior Fire Marshal Projectshould continue enhancing their professional growthand expertise regarding fire safety and preventionthrough attending more seminars/trainings in the FireSafety Enforcement Section of the local Bureau of

    Fire Protection.4. Modules and learning videos should be providedfor easy implementation to all concerned.

    5. More close supervision in line with administrative

    support should be provided.

    Chapter 4

    PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS ANDINTERPRETATION OF DATA

    This chapter deals with the presentation, analysis

    and interpretation of data gathered in pursuit of

    answering the problems raised in Chapter 1.
