National Day of Prayer for the Legal
Protection of the Unborn This January 22, 2021 will mark 48
years since the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade
permitting abortions throughout the United States. The USCCB
has designated January 22 as a National Day of Prayer for
the
Legal Protection of the Unborn. This year, we will be
hosting
Eucharistic Adoration at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred
Heart
from 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. All are invited to join us in
prayer!
This event is open to the public and will also be livestreamed
at
https://www.archgh.org/live. If your parish (or a group at
your
parish) would like to lead prayer, we have 30 or 60 - minute
time

Pro-Life Panel Discussion Join the Office of Pro-Life Activities
on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 9:00 a.m. for a live virtual
discussion of important pro-life topics, including 2021
pro-life
legislative priorities, vaccine ethics for Catholics and issues
sur-
rounding miscarriage, infant loss and prenatal diagnosis.

guests will include staff from the United States and Texas
Bishop's Conferences as well as local Catholic medical
profes-

Assistance for Parishioners in Need
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-
Houston continues to serve people in need during the COVID-19
pandemic through all of its programs. Food
pantries are open for drive-through food distribution with
hours each week at our three locations: Guadalupe
Center in Houston; Mamie George Community Center in
Richmond; Beacon of Hope Center in Galveston.

Stewardship Reflections
Baptism of the Lord: January 10 That we work in collaboration
with the Holy Spirit in
discerning how God is calling us to use our gifts.
“And a voice came from the heavens, ‘You are my beloved
Son; with you I am well pleased.’” – Mark 1:11
Through our baptism, we too, are daughters and sons of
God. We are disciples of Jesus. As true disciples we are
called to actively participate in our Catholic faith, not
just
be mere bystanders. This means working in collaboration
with Holy Spirit and discerning how we are being asked to
use our gifts. Using our gifts for the benefit of others and
not just for our own interests and comfort.
