Course DescriptionThis ASGE course provides your practice operations staff with the essentials needed to effectively and efficiently manage a GI unit. New presentations have been added to this course that provide insight on implementing new concepts in practice management and practice applications. This course is designed to be highly interactive and provide winning practical solutions that can be applied immediately in your practice.

Course DescriptionThis highly popular course was developed by ASGE to educate physicians and non-physician staff of endoscopy units on how to translate quality and safety concepts into everyday practice. Through a mixture of didactic lecture and interactive sessions taught by leading experts in the field, participants of the course will advance their knowledge of endoscopy unit quality and safety, as well as discuss emerging trends and evidence. They will also be prepared to apply for the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program or be able to renew their current participation.
Why AttendUpon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:• Identify ways to define and measure quality in endoscopy• Describe techniques to make endoscopy more efficient while maintaining safety• Describe methods to improve patient satisfaction in endoscopy, including
improved doctor-patient communication• Recognize the potential sources of infection from contact with various body
fluids, their transmissibility during gastrointestinal endoscopy, and their susceptibility to potential disinfectants
• Specify measures for improving unit quality, including training and credentialing for new procedures, quality assurance programs, sedation and monitoring, and unit accreditation and re-accreditation

Units interested in applying for the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program (EURP) or renewing their ASGE EURP Certificate are encouraged to send both a physician and a non-physician manager to the course. Program eligibility criteria require completion of this course by at least one unit representative within one year of the program application for new units and prior to expiration for renewing units.
This course qualifies for the ASGE Excellence in GI Practice Operations Recognition Program.

• Improving Quality and Safety in Your Endoscopy Unit: This activity was approved for a maximum of 8.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc., an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity was approved for 7.75 contact hours.
Physicians – The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. ASGE designates AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for these activities. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses – All nurse participants in the GI Practice Management 101 will receive a certificate of attendance specifying hours of education accredited for AMA PRA Course
Category 1 Credit.™ This certificate can be used toward nursing requirements.
For all nurse participants in the Quality and Safety course, this continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc., an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Practice Administrators – This program is eligible for American College of Medical Practice Executive (ACMPE) credit hours. To apply this program toward your ACMPE continuing medical education requirement, please calculate the total number of clock hours you spent in educational sessions and enter your hours online in the MY TRANSCRIPT area of mgma.com.
Coders – The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) will honor 1-for-1 CEUs for any live event offering AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™ You may claim only the actual hours that you are present during the education.
