PRESEN TATIO N DO SS IER
APRIL 2015
SOCIETAT CIVIL CATALANA
SCC is a private non-profit association, which aims to lend a voice to a majority of
Catalans who feel both Catalan and Spanish. The organization works with citizens
and the media alike to raise awareness of the strengths and opportunities of being
part of Spain
SCC's work is ruled by the unity in diversity and endorses the values of the Charter of
Fundamental Rights of the European Union: respect for democracy, the rule of law
and rights and freedoms for all citizen
What’s SCC?
Since 2012, the regional government plan is to create an independent state
Today, the nationalist ruling party, along with other separatist parties and social
organizations threaten the diversity of Catalan society by means of social
engineering
The regional government uses regional institutions for the promotion of partisan
goals. Public institutions must be impartial
___
Societat Civil Catalana is a social platform which stands for unity in diversity
We believe in an open and tolerant Catalonia as part of a pluralistic Spain that
respects all its cultures
We believe in political reform through dialogue and negotiation and oppose
radicalism
We want a government that serves the interests of all the people and that does not
favour an exclusivist ideology
The Problem | Our Solution
Since April 23rd 2014, SCC has worked tirelessly to promote its ideas within the
society as a whole
SCC uses the principles of cooperation, experience and the knowledge of all
channels to lobby and influence opinion leaders and target audiences
SCC has territorial and professional groups of collaborators to bring their value
proposition to society
SCC is funded entirely by the contributions of its 75 individual members and other
private entities
Our Model
SCC uses Public Relations and Communication Strategies and Tactics to convey a
consistent message to convince Catalan society of the benefits of unity
To date, 20,000 people have signed its manifesto and 4,000 have become
volunteers

PR & Communication
SCC’s aims are the opposite of The Catalan National Assembly (ANC) and Òmnium
Cultural who are the most important civil separatist organisations in Catalonia that
organised the massive pro-independence demonstrations in 2012, 2013 and 2014
with the support of nationalist and separatist parties: CUP, CiU, ERC and ICV-EUiA
ANC and Òmnium Cultural defend the independence at any cost even if it means
leaving the EU
ANC and Òmnium Cultural claim to represent the whole Catalan people

presides our misión in the future: Together and better.
The European Citizen Award 2014 gives us the opportunity to increase awareness in
Europe that there are citizens in Catalonia who do not believe in walls built with a
separatist thesis. We believe it is possible to live with respect for diversity, plurality of
ideas, identities and feelings
SCC is committed to a Europe of the citizens rather than a Europe of the peoples
