• January to July: Personal meeting with the stakeholders of the Argentine beef value chain to tell them about the GRSB iniciative and the importance of forming a local RT for Sustainable Beef.

• July 12: Preliminary meeting with important stakeholders of the argentine beef valuechain to tell about the GRSB and the posibility/oportunity of forming a local round table forSustainable Beef.

Objective:

• Present the GRSB initiative, as consumers are more and more concerned about how the food they consume is produced, processed and distributed and their related impacts.

• Presentation of the different GRSB principles that seek to ensure a balance among the environmental impact, the social and economic aspects and the advances in other countries.

- 2020 only will buy sustainable meat in the countries with the greatest volume of supply (US, Australia, Germany, Brazil, Ireland, Canada, France, NZ, UK, Poland).

- 2030 100% of the beef must be sustainable.

• He made the commitment clear of Mc Donald's to support the formation of the roundtable in Argentina.

• He highlighted the opportunity to define a sustainability standard by establishing the criteria according to the reality of the context.

• Emphasized the progress they are making through the work of NGOs and their sustainability programs.

• He presented the increasingly demanding requirements of banks in terms ofsustainability to free up corporate loans and rate reductions for companies that meet the standard.

• Highlighted the work of the different actors in the chain to ensure responsable production.

Exchange of ideas and opinions

among all participants

• Include the participation of the Government in the Sustainable Meat Roundtable of the different countries that are already formally formed.

• Advance with the initiative of the Roundtable, including the contribution of ideas such asexperienced producers and organizations and companies that already have good practice protocols.

• Define the conditions, measurement and control parameters for the project, withoutbeing too demanding to ensure they will meet and achieve the desired objectives.

• Define the requirements in compliance with the current legislation related to sustainability.

• The work must be multidisciplinary.

• The participation of ONGs and scientists linked to sustainability is important.

• The costs were discussed and how to reward the effort, with all participantsagreeing that costs could be absorbed by generating a scale.

• Ensure that it does not become a new tariff measure, having strong arguments tocounter it if it happens.

• In relation to Argentina, it was emphasized that the concept of sustainability isnot yet a limitation, but that the demand for the project is more focused on the quality (tenderness) and price of the product.

• The commitment of many slaugthering house meeting a sustainability standard, due to internal and external requirements that must already be met.

Actions after Preliminary meeting (July 12, 2017)

• July: Meeting with Salentein: The export to EU, a premium beef sold in restaurants and some supermarket. They are working with certified soy, and they are interested in adding "sustainability attributes“ to their export premium beef. John Quaine, Farming Managing Director, is actively involved.

• July: Meeting with Makro Argentina: Is launching a new sustainability standard for their suppliers. They are interesting in understanding better their supply chain. Its too soon to have a commitment on beef, but they are going on the right direction. We continue meeting the.

• July: Alsea (Franchisers of Burgetr King in Argentina. Also Starbucks and P.F.Chang): is a mexican company that has a newly developed sustainability strategy. They received örders"from BK on how to proceed, they are only verifying Food Safety and quality on their beef. They are interested in developing a risk assessment in Argentina to understand if they have deforestated or other risk presence in their beef supply chain.

• July: Meeting with UNEP Finance: Is active in Argentina with local banks to get them involved in sustainable finance. We are attending next conference to see if we can help influencing banks on this and inviting them to the local RT meetings.

• July 19: Meeting with ArreBeef: Is one of the biggest meat packers in Argentina. They source the local market and export to premium markets. They are interesting in developing a D-Free supply chain with other sustainability attributes. We are still discussing the way of doing it.

• July 20: Meeting with Gorina: They are also interested in getting actively involved in the RT, they see market opportunities abroad for non deforested or sustainable beef.

• July20: Meeting with Grupo Bermejo: Large beef producers in Argentina. Interested in participating in the local beef Roundtable.

• August 10: Meeting with AACREA and FVSA: AACREA is the most important association of agricultural producers in Argentina, they are very interested in forming a local roundtable . Planning the next meeting with all the members of the beef value chain and strategy to invite.

• August 14: Meeting with Grupo Bermejo: to inform them more in detail about the GRSB iniciative ,they confirm that they are going to participate on the next meeting for the local roundtable.

• September 11: Meeting with BID Argentina to tell them about the GRSB iniciative and the posibility of forming a local roundtable. They are very interesting in participate in the project.

• September 12: Call with WWF Paraguay to understand the process for the development of the Paraguayan RT and to know which were the last steps .

• September 6: Meeting with FVSA : Planning last details of the September 26.

Objectives for the meeting:• Make all the actors in the meat value chain of Argentina

know the initiative of the GRSB and the latest advances of the tables conform and in formation.

• Raise awareness of the importance of producing in an efficient and socially and environmentally responsible manner.

• Raise awareness that today for Argentina this is an opportunity and in the future can be a barrier to entry to different markets

• That participants leave the meeting with the specific question, if they want to participate actively in the roundtable of Argentine sustainable meat and know that we will be joining personally with each one after the meeting.

Post meeting objectives:• Have a personal meeting with each of the stakeholders to tell us if they want to be

members in case the local roundtable progress.
