Peace and Love, Rock and Roll at Presentation Night 2016 SUMMER EDITION Colourful, cool dudes – the Beethams Kevin, Sylvia, Andrew, Tracey and Syanne in the Peace Van. Anyone recognise these hippies? Bill and Matt Craig arrive ready to party! Having fun in the Kombi – John, Maureen, Bill and Janette Presentation Night was lots of fun. Tie dye colours were everywhere, along with wigs and beads. The band, Liquid Revival, played hit songs and great dance music. Bill Heath was an entertaining MC and kept the night moving. The night was enjoyed by 120 adults and 20 children, and all were well fed by Pam and Roger James. The James family make an awesome catering team. As usual a lot of great prizes were won by ticket holders. 16 gift cards of $25, $50, $75 and $100 were won, along with a ham and a $300 major door prize. So many volunteers help to make the night a success but the biggest thanks for the night went to Maureen Draper who took on the role of co-ordinator. She put in countless hours making decorations, tie dying hangings and painting the beautiful Kombi photo booth. She was assisted by John, son James and Janette Heath. Thank you Maureen – we really appreciate your amazing creative efforts. A big thank you to our very special guests – Dale Last, Stephen Griggs and Matt Beetham. All three are great supporters of our club and our community. Dale Welldon from the Fishing Warehouse was unable to attend. Page 1 Lots more photos and club information at cungullafishingclub.com

Fishing Competitions

The 2016 year was a very successful one for the club. More members weighed fish and

the points scored by anglers improved. This shows that there were more and better

quality fish available on competition weekends. Some anglers seriously pursue the prizes

on offer and others are content to weigh in a fish or crab to be included in the random

draw. There is room in our competition for all sorts of anglers.

2016 may have been dry but this does not seem to have been bad for mudcrabs. 48

people weighed in crabs compared to 37 in 2015. Weights also increased. The winning

aggregate was 10.07kg from 8 crabs. Last year the winning aggregate was 8.24kg, this

would have scored 9th this year. The top 10 scores in 2016 averaged over a kilo per crab

over 8 competitions, increasing from 1.03kg last year to 1.26kg.

The Fishing Warehouse has been a wonderful club sponsor. The cost of our prize

vouchers for Presentation Night was reduced by almost $1200. The amount of the discount depends on the amount spent by members throughout the year. Fishing

Warehouse also provides quality prizes for the Kid’s Fishing Day. Alligator Creek Roadhouse donates a fuel card valued at $50 for the random draw at each monthly

competition. Please continue to support our generous sponsors. A special thank you is extended to Fishing Co-ordinator, Marcus McCloskey and Assistant Stephen Woodford.
