Problems occur from home. parents is the role model for their children. Parent should be alert about that either direct

or indirectly. The parents lack the knowledge of a balanced

diet to their children.

Unhealthy Lifestyle

Unhealthy lifestyle children are often associated with frequent television viewing.

That make their eating habit is bad and nutrient of food affected.

That unhealthy eating habits can cause chronic diseases

Poverty

The poor families cannot provide nutritious food for their children because of poverty.

Their children are not getting enough nutrients makes physical condition and behaviors of their children are not like normal children other.

It is recommended breastfeeding mothers of children with breast milk exclusively for six month and continues up to age of two years.

Avoid giving food and drinks low in energy contents as plain water, tea, coffee and soup.

Make sure kids are fed at least 5-6 times a day.

Add a little oil, margarine or use milk in cooking, or include milk when making porridge.

Vary types of food according to the Malaysian Food Pyramid.

Children who are underweight should eat food that is high in calories (energy) to increase the weight to a more normal weight by age.

Make sure children eat breakfast every morning. Children who do not eat breakfast do not get the nutrients needed to initiate daily activities.

Encourage the child to eat with family members. Eat together peers. Serve foods rich in color and interesting shapes.

Parents should bring their children play together and exposed to outdoor activities.

Monitor their children and teach them to be more disciplined.

Buying sports equipment such as gym ball or runner machine in the house.

Parents need to monitor their activities so that children are not engrossed with current technology equipment.

Even if their parents are too busy with their careers, parents need to control their diet, especially fast food and home cooking that prioritize where it is more secure and cleaner.

Covering the prohibition of sale of carbonated drinks and energy drinks in the cafeteria.

Non-nutritious foods like crackers that contain high salt, sweets and unhealthy snacks should also be prohibited from sale in the school.

Juice drinks or isotonic drinks has high sugar content.

Outside the school district should also be monitored to prevent the existence of street vendors sell non-nutritious snacks like ice cream.

It will help children feel more confident, happy, relaxed, improve self esteem and self concept, sense of belonging, ability to sleep better, self expression and the opportunity to achieve.

Active children are happy and healthy and ready to be more likely to become active adults.

Proper nutrition is essential to a child’s well being.

Insufficient nutrient intake during childhood has been linked to physical and mental health problems as well as emotional and behavioral problems, learning deficiencies, and lower grades.

As parents, society, friends, the school, teachers, we need to work together in overcoming problems nutrient deficiencies in children.

Be healthy, be smart and have a good future.
