GRADUATION DAY

Graduation day is one of the most important days in the calendar of an educational

institution because it is the day the institution delivers what it has promised to the

society.

The seventh graduation day commenced in Chettinad Tech on 1st December, 2018.

Mrs. Grace Daisy Nallathambi, Senior Consultant, Tata Consultancy Service, Chennai

distributed medals and certificates to the rank holders of Chettinad Tech. During the

function, 302 students were conferred with degrees. “When you start your career it is

going to be technology driven, irrespective of the specialization you take. Application

of technology is there in every field and every profession” said Mrs. Grace Daisy

Nallathambi in her graduation day address. Dr. R. Murugesan, Director, Faculty of

Allied Health Sciences, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education presided over

the function. Dr. (Mrs). A. Punitha, the Principal of Chettinad Tech welcomed the

gathering and motivated the graduates to be curious and willing to learn new things

every day and ensure that each day is successful in this wonderful country filled with

opportunities. Head of departments, faculty members and other dignitaries were also

present.

DEPARTMENT OF ECE

GUEST LECTURE

A Guest lecture was organized by the department of ECE for III and IV year students on

29-12-2018. The Chief Guest Mr. M. Hariharan, Network Engineer from WIPRO

delivered lecture on the topic Communication Networks and Security Systems and the

interaction covered network designs, challenges and troubleshooting. Interaction gave

students information on networking.

On 29-12-2018 an alumni of ECE department, Mr. R. Manoj Prabahar of Chettinad Tech

systems and made the session interesting.

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

HANDS ON TRAINING

Hands-on-training program was organized by Mechanical Engineering Department on

11-12-2018. The training was on the topic Material Testing and Automobile Engine

assembly, for the benefit of II year Mechanical Engineerinhg students. It was given by

Mr. S. P. Premkumar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Department and

Mr. M. Gunashankar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Department .

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

INTERNSHIP TRAINING

Internship Training program for the students of III year and IV year Civil Engineering

was arranged from 01-12-2018 to 09-12-2018 and the students actively took part in

the building construction work undertaken by Chettinad Builders Pvt Ltd. Internship

Training program was organized at three different places namely Maruthamalai,

Coimbatore, NGP Institute of Technology, Coimbatore and Bannariamman Institute of

Technology, Sathyamangalam.

DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES

MOTIVATIONAL PROGRAM

Motivational Program was organized for the I year engineering students by Chettinad Tech on 30-11-2018, 03-12-2018 & 04-12-2018. The students were motivated on various aspects by special trainers, Mr. Surya & Ms. Prabha, White Elephant, Trichy. These sessions were intended to enable students to enhance their interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, decision-making and problem-solving skills. The sessions on soft skills also focused on team work, negotiations, mutual consent and evolving synergy.

SOFTS SKILL TRAINING PROGRAM

Soft skills and aptitude training program was organized by Chettinad Tech between

03.12.2018 - 06.12.2018 to enable the students to acquire various skills that not only

suit the corporate requirements but also result in the overall personality development

of students.

Students of all the departments geared up in the field of Aptitude training by Mr.Faizal

& Mr. Murali, Freelancers. The sessions were based on speed mathematics, logical

reasoning and analytical skills.

Apart from this, students were exposed to Soft skills by Ms. Divya & Mr. Parthasarathy.

The sessions on Soft skills focused on interpersonal skills, team spirit, group

discussions, personal interview techniques, communication skills etc. Handling stress

and developing emotional intelligence were a vital part of the training process.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

On 18-12-2018 a Faculty Development Program was organized by Chettinad Tech and

conducted at ‘C’ Block Seminar hall by Principal Dr. (Mrs). A. Punitha and Admin

Dr. K. Senthil. The FDP dealt with moulding the students as skilled engineers. Senior

faculty members from various departments participated in the program and got an

entirely different experience.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

An entrepreneurship program was organized by MSME Department, Govt. of

TamilNadu at Hotel Aarthi, Karur on 31.12.2018. Nearly 98 students accompanied by 3

faculty members of Chettinad Tech attended the program and got ideas about

becoming an entrepreneur.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department of Chettinad Tech organized an

Industrial visit to Welspun Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd., Karur 13.12.2018. The visit

expanded their views on renewable energy. 35 students of II year along with 3 faculty

members visited the plant.

II year Mechanical students of Chettinad Tech went for an industrial visit to Welspun

Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd., Karur and NTC Institute of Driver Trainer & Research,

Namakkal on 12-12-2018 and 14-12-2018.The visit gave an insight to the students on

the new machineries used in the mechanical field. Nearly 45 students along with 3

faculty members visited the sites.

SOCIAL CLUBS

INTERNATIONAL AIDS DAY

All the social clubs of Chettinad Tech

joined hands and arranged an AIDS

awareness program on 01.12.2018 at

Chettinad Tech campus. The students of

Chettinad Tech formed the symbol of

universal symbol of awareness and

serving food to the devotees. Volunteers of NSS

SAPLING PLANTATION

A mega project of planting 5000 saplings in and around Karur district was initiated

and organized by all the social clubs of Chettinad Tech (Rotaract Club, Leo Club and

NSS) to save the environment. The project began on 17.11.2018 from Melapalayam-

Thozhirpettai, Karur.

GAJA CYCLONE RELIEF

NSS, Leo, Rotaract and YRC Volunteers of Chettinad Tech joined hands and collected

the relief materials from the students and staff of Chettinad Tech for the people who

were in the devastated area of Aliyaanilai Village, Pudukottai District and Aranthangi

Town. The relief materials were distributed to the beneficiaries on 26.12.2018.

SPORTS DAY EVENTS

As part of sports day, various games such as Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Cricket,

Badmiton, Handball, Chess, Kabbadi, and Table Tennis were conducted for the

students from 26.12.2018 to 02.01.2019 during evening at Chettinad Tech Sports

complex.

VYUHAA’18

“VYUHAA'18”, an interdepartmental cultural fest was organized by Chettinad Tech on

22-12-2018 at Chettinad Tech campus. Students from various departments

participated in multiple events such as Solo Singing, Solo Dance, Face Painting,

Crafting, Veggie Carving, Cooking without fire, Mime and Group Dance. Students

talents were showcased in the cultural extravaganza that potrayed the competitive

spirit by participating in various events. The competitions were judged by the external

judges Mrs.Saraswathi, Cooking Expert and Mrs.Padmapriya, Teaching Assistant &

Cultural Coordinator, Chettinad Vidya Mandir. VYUHAA’18 facilitated the students to

work towards a fixed goal in unison and eventually developed a sense of

responsibility. It elevated confidence and also taught how to work in a team and in

various challenging situations. Winners and runners were honored with prizes and

certificates during the valedictory session at 4.30pm. The rolling trophy was given to

the overall best department and this year it was taken by the Computer Science and

Engineering Department. In the life of a student, revolving around studies,

“VYUHAA’18” showed a certain degree of inflation in the excitement levels of students.

PLACEMENTS The Placement Cell of Chettinad Tech creates a platform where students can showcase

their talents, which different companies seek to explore and utilize. ChettinadTech

have successfully placed a large section of graduates who have appeared for

placements. This year especially, the performance has been overwhelming. The

Placement Cell of ChettinadTech acts as an integral link between the students and

corporate organizations. A great number of new as well as regular companies visited

our college for Placements this year. It started off with Chettinad Software

Development Centre as the first, followed by companies such as M/s Ridsys Tech Pvt

Ltd., M/s Vernalis, NDOT Technologies, V care group of companies, GEEKYANTS,

GBOX, AMPHISOFT, M/s Oasys, Tata Consultancy Services, M/s Impiger Technologies,

FACE, M/s Ceasefire, SAVVY SOFT, Infosys.We have placed more students through on

campus drives and off campus interviews from all the departments.
